Guest HairyGreek
OK, so let's assume that recording is legit - that's really a bigfoot yelling out some gibberish that sounds a bit Japanese-y to American ears. What would make it a supernatural/paranormal/high strangeness bigfoot? It might be weird to consider a big, hairy monster that has a language and sounds like that, but would it be weird enough that we'd have to re-write the physics textbooks? Whoa...whoa! I am not that guy. You need to go back and read my posts more carefully. To answer your questions though, until it starts talking with it's mind and walking through walls, no. It has not bent or broken what we now understand the laws of physics and biology to be. I have been an eyewitness to things I cannot explain, but they were not related to Bigfoot and that's what this thread is about. The only other thing that the reports help with are establishing a pattern of behavior and I have not seen a close enough ratio in PN to FB reports. Of course, this could be because of folks like LAL who are more worried in what "serious" science will look at then following where the trail leads you. I honestly don't know. My point in joining this thread and my ideas is I can't stand the "absolutes" the PNs go for. They won't accept "perhaps" any more than a staunch scientist. This greatly annoys me. Sometimes there are things that we know nothing about yet and this is where you end up. It reminds me of the "The Thin Man" by Dashiell Hammett. At the end of the mystery, he tells what would be a fantastic tale in retrospect. When Nora questions the validity of his chain of events, he responds "It's the only way it makes sense". That's how life works sometimes. The good thing about science is that this drives them up the wall and makes them keep going. The bad thing is the ones that persue the peculiar are labelled "fringe" until they find the truth and then it becomes a "scientific discovery" again. Sigh. /rant Edited August 26, 2011 by HairyGreek
Bonehead74
Good discussion all around, but we seem to be heading back to debating the PN hypothesis which has been talked to death. I'm still waiting to hear from any PN proponents who could suggest a specific methodology to investigate their claims. Where is para ape when you need him? Guest
"High strangeness" is when you have eyes looking in 15'high windows, little shadowy things scurrying around inside your house, (sometimes big shadowy things, too), something poking you awake in the night, but nothing is there, glowing red or green eyes peering at you from behind a tree at night, balls of light floating around in your yard, etc, etc, etc. Yep, You are correct. All of that is indeed high strangeness. Do you live with that occurring where you are presently? Yikes, and I actually thought that my haunted house was bad! Guest krakatoa
Duly noted. I don't think this was set up to be an opinion thread on the paranormal argument. You and LAL are missing the point of this completely, Eeyore. You are giving off too much negativity man. You are throwing off the aura around the discussion...oh, GREAT. Now you've turned my mood ring black. Well done. Have not finished the thread, but I will say this: I always a appreciate a nod to the most colorful tank-gunner in Hollywood history. Guest krakatoa
If bigfoot is "paranormal", then by definition it shouldn't leave physical evidence around. If it did, that would make it "normal," i.e., it could be examined, measured, quantified, identified. So I think it's a cop-out to think of bigfoot as both flesh-and-blood and paranormal. If bigfoot is paranormal, there should be no foot of one collected by those guys in Oklahoma, there should no hairs collected by people all over the country, there should be no DNA that Dr. Ketchum has apparently analyzed, etc. The only thing that simultaneously explains the totality of experiences people claim for bigfoot and the apparent inability to confirm the identity of any physical evidence purported to be from these creatures is that there is no bigfoot outside of folklore. When the explanation for your experience is that the whole of scientific understanding of the physical universe is in error, that should be a big, flashy, red flag to seek an alternative and more parsimonious explanation. Given that we humans are really good at hallucinating, misidentifying, and storytelling, I'd consider those explanations far more likely than a paranormal bigfoot. Not good logic here at all. It is a difficult topic, certainly, since the term "paranormal" encompasses a broad variety of potential traits. Presuming some or all might exist, some or all might not exist in a "paranormal bigfoot", and most would not preclude the leaving of physical evidence. Using a term like "The only thing that... explains" is a false choice.
Guest
Thanks Art. That's next to last thing I wanted to do. My point is that there is endless arguing(sometimes even managing to rise to the level of debate) without anyone on either side doing anything. It's my little call to action. I do appreciate you giving it a chance. Bonehead.. it's the fact that you are encouraging a lively discussion, and asking for people to stop stating in a matter of fact fashion, and challenging them with coming up with way's to possibly prove one way or the other. That is why I edited my post, and changed my own tone.... Even moderators are human, and make mistakes once in a while (not often though ha ha ) Art
Bonehead74
Perhaps he's been endwelt by a Sasquatch and is roaming the woods like the old Wendigo tales... But do you have any evidence to back up your wild supposition?
Sasfooty
All of that is indeed high strangeness. Do you live with that occurring where you are presently? I still live in the same house, but the things that were going on inside the house have mostly stopped. You learn to fight that kind of thing after awhile if it bothers you. The lights are still around, sometimes even more so. I decided to try to get video of the lights a few weeks ago, & put the security camera on the wall beside my bedroom window. It got several hours of orbs & blinking & floating lights over a couple of weeks, but nothing "unusual".

Orbs and lights floating around (unless they are fireflies) are not normal. Yikes, Sas, You may need to have a paranormal specialist check out your home. Call someone who can help. Living like that is not healthy for you nor your family,IMVHO, I'm worried for you and yours.. Edited August 26, 2011 by SweetSusiq

If we assume a paranormal bigfoot does occasionally leave, you know, a foot lying around for someone to find, then that foot can be tested and identified. Until that happens . . . Sasfooty
If you call floating lights and Orbs nothing unusual, what exactly for you is *something*? Well, so far we haven't seen any space ships or little green men, & I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we never do. I don't think I could handle that. After awhile it became apparent that whatever is going on around here is not harmful to us, & with it happening over & over for 6 years or so, it finally got to be "usual". Guest
Surveyor, I agree it's unwise to try it yourself. I didn't look at your link because I am afraid of that stuff. Really. It's real, dude. JMHO and all. I first said enlist a clergyman, then you can do your little bit, just add a tag to his effort mostly. I meant it mostly as a clue to those who know what I am talking about already without offending those who would rather not know. I was just weaving a shape of floppy twigs and it went missing. That it went missing from my front fenced courtyard is weird and kind of creepy. I have no power to expel spirits more noxious than methane. Nor does any object I could make, but to me it's a symbol of what I believe does have power. It means a lot to me. And in my world, a clergyman is a conductor for that power as well. If a person is wiling to try that kind of thing, it might be a kind of test. I see different kinds of critters in images once I fool with the settings. Maybe we are talking about apples and oranges. Bigfoot might be one kind of them? MIght be associated, hang out with them? THey hang with bf? Some paranormal? NOne? It's too weird. And here in town. On the roof. what the heck. Maybe BFF might set up a forum area for para-sites. (nice phrasing by the way)
Guest HairyGreek
Maybe BFF might set up a forum area for para-sites. (nice phrasing by the way) It has been suggested and denied for the time being from what I understand. I feel the issue may be coming to a head unless folks want to see more para-discussions in the General Discussion board. I still think a sub-forum under the campfire chat section wold be most excellent. JMHO. Guess if I ever get on the steering commitee I can plead my case. The idea of this thread though, was to put the issue to bed unless you have proof or a way to provide it thanks to Bonehead74. No one is biting yet though.
