Guest
I just don't get the self-imposed deprivation concept. I had enough military-imposed deprivation during training to decide that it wasn't fun beyond a certain point. He's just not my cup of iodine water. I think the idea is for it to be somewhat educational, and I think it is.
JDL
I suspect the fun quotient increases for Les on pay day. I suspect that celebrity has something to do with it as well. I like Survivorman but sometimes I think he does things the hard way when he doesn't have to. AND there really are a lot more things to eat out there than he thinks, there is no need to fast so much. For example, make a fish weir, or a net, rather than hook and line to get fish... No fair! The target audience is not people who are smarter than he is. You're breaking the curve. Guest Biggie
I saw him mention that on his blog a couple years ago. Shame they didn't have the other encounter of his included in that clip as I haven't heard of it. I've enjoyed his shows over the years but I can't stand how he always smacks his food like a little kid. I thought he was absolutely insane jumping in the ocean with all those sharks swarming all over him in one of his shark shows last year. I didn't care for the parts of some shows where he went into trances with natives either. I like Dual Survivor the best of all the survivor shows. I enjoy their personalities and humor. EDIT: I get a kick out of Hawk being out in the boonies with his wife too. Funny when they have their arguments. Bringing your wife out in the woods what do you expect? lol Edited September 13, 2011 by Biggie
Guest FuriousGeorge
Didn't someone from this forum email him a long time ago, asking about bf encounters? Wasn't his response somewhere along the lines that he has been in extremely remote places for large amounts of time, seen it all, heard it all, and he has never had an indication that bf was around? <--paraphrasing. I don't remember. I'm asking because I'm wondering if these two encounters happened after the notion of bf was put in his mind from that email. Might be more valuable information than an actual sighting. Either now he is more aware as to what to look for or his imagination is now more active after that email. Great find though Mulder. I love his show. Sometimes it's over the top but it's very entertaining to me.

Guest BFSleuth
Guess he may have lost it, eh? Yes, he is human. And for those of us who have been in a position to "lose it" in a real survival situation I appreciate the candor of his presentation, sans film crew and sans Holiday Inn (or wherever Bear Grylis spends the night). kitakaze
I have always enjoyed Les Stroud and his series. I too remember the email Furious is referring to and I remember the BFRO representing him inaccurately as a witness. Why does the title of this thread say, "He's seen Bigfoot"? He makes no such claim at all in the link. Maybe a mod can change it to, "He's heard something."
Guest
Apparently there is something wrong with the video as it cuts off...my understanding is that he spoke in the interview of two seperate incidents, one visual and one no visual. I'll double check my source and see if I can scare up the rest of the interview.
Guest
Les is the man, eh? Would be useful to hear him talking about an actual sighting as I don't think in this one he definitely said one way or t'other that it was a squatch
Guest Swamper
This is one from his blog "Well……no luck with the net yet. But I’ll leave it out and hope for some action during the next high tide. Same goes for fishing with a line and hook. I went out in the kayak fishing for over an hour, but nothing bit. I did get out to ‘bounty bay’ for some more foraging, which keeps my spirits up. Tonight I even managed to make a short grass matt to sleep on and a hammock chair out of an old fishing net to hang on. The strangest thing happened tonight when I was making my grass matt. All of a sudden a deep and very loud grunting noise from about fifty yards away in the bush brought me to my feet and put the hairs up on the back of my neck. It repeated four times and I have to say sounded…..wait for it….just like a large gorilla! No, I’m not kidding. Hopefully I’m not losing it! But I swear. That’s what it sounded like. Not like a bear at all. Like a big gorilla. I will assume it was a bear though – a mother warning her cubs about my presence. But still…..it will be an interesting sleep tonight!" Guest
He makes no such claim at all in the link. Maybe a mod can change it to, "He's heard something." for the record- we can only change the main subject line (title) of the thread. there does not appear to be a way to change the sub-title (the part you wish to change). I've wanted too, tried several times on other threads, and it doesn't allow us too. I'll have to mention that to staff.. see if it can be addressed. EDITED- there is a way to do it... ! Thanks to Admin Chris B letting me know !! Art Edited September 19, 2011 by Art1972 to change response
Guest Biggie
Thanks bm. Sounds like he's a believer. I don't know why he said there were over 1M accounted sightings though. I've only seen that there are supposedly over 100k sightings.
Guest
^^^ great O&A interview ... Jim Norton is a funny dude too. I miss them from "terrestrial radio" from years ago. Used to have XM but let it lapse- just one of many things ive had to cut back on in last year or two...
Guest bmartin
I thought it was pretty interesting when he said he was asked to do a series about finding bigfoot. That would've been cool i think
