  1. So much in society is crap. We’ve all experienced that with this phenomenon. A long list of grifters in every facet of society.

  2. My kids loved Bear Grylls. Watched him each week. Lo and behold he did a Salmon River episode. And in one shot he is standing in the Stoddard creek trailhead explaining that he was in the middle of the wilderness. I paused the episode with my kids all complaining and ran up the stairs and got my photo album and held it up to the screen. Dead ringer. It’s a mountain that the pack trail goes up the face. They cut the pack bridge and Forest service road out of the shot. It was at that moment my children’s hero shattered. Sorry!😬

  3. I don’t trust Todd Standing as far as I can throw him. But as you say? Who cares. This is about Les Stroud! And I trust Les completely! Way more honest than say Bear Grylls… who I had dirt on back in the day. Complete liar. That’s not to say I agree with Les all the time or whatever. But he absolutely is a man of integrity. 👍

  4. Apparently you did not get the memo about Matilda and Chewbacca toys. Perhaps Matilda can make a cameo appearance. There is time to make one or two furry things. Never seen any of Stroud's failures. How many years has failure marketing worked for him? Now he has over $262K. The cover for 'The Question of Bigfoot' is artwork. Seems like the only published photographic image is from 1967. Someone fact check me about his previous work. Are the scripted and choreographed scenes about 15 seconds in length? No one has taken the challenge about posts regarding scene lengths that I have previously posted. Failure marketing works well for those who are on social media but they run out of content quickly and get busted for rehashing previously rehashed material.

  5. Standing goes into extremely remote country and puts more time in than 99% of the "researchers" on the subject. Geniusis learn from fools every day. Listen to all, discern for yourself, and log it as data. To be fair, we are talking about a mythical forest beast here, and all of us are deemed crazy by the mainstream. Stroud had to start somewhere and I look forward to seeing where his journey has taken him over the past 5 years or however long it's been since he finished the Survivorman Bigfoot series. Stroud hasn't revealed much about the contents of his upcoming film. Let's not turn this into a Standing thread haha there are already enough of those

  6. Here is an interview with Survivor Man and Bob Gimlin. As expected, its mostly the typical story. Yet, I am struck how easy it is for Gimlin to tell it and how authentic and believable Gimlin is telling it:

  7. It's been noticed that the "Events" list isn't often checked, so here goes this. Also, there are signs this gathering will be very well attended by numerous Bigfoot people. Make hotel reservations. A Memorial Celebration of A Fortunate Life will be held for Peter on Sunday, September 17th 2023 from 2-4 pm PST at the Kiawanda Community Center (34600 Cape Kiwanda Dr, Pacific City, OR 97135). Friends can record their remarks/wishes on their cell phone and send to lmprods@gmail.com in order to be part this celebration. Remembrances: A journalism scholarship has been established in Peter's honor: The Peter Byrne Endowed Scholarship Fund in Journalism for the Talent and Love of Writing. Checks or funds may be sent payable to the Nestucca High School, PO Box 38, Cloverdale, Oregon 97112. Contributions can also be made to the International Wildlife Conservation Society which was founded by Peter in 1968. Please send your tax-deductible contribution to International Wildlife, PO Box 703, Pacific City, Oregon, 97135. The photo by Joe Beelart was made in October 2007 after Peter invited Joe to the coast to investigate a Bigfoot sighting in which the Bigfoot was walking and eating clams on an estuary shore. The van is one made to order by Peter in the 1970s and was modified into a camper. It has seen service in Nepal, India, and throughout the Pacific Northwest.

  8. Let me start by saying my experience watching Les Stroud is limited to his Survivorman time on TV. Where we were: When many of us older guys grew up, we had very limited access to the issue of Bigfoot. Two come to mind: 1) The Peter Graves Bigfoot show back in the 1970's 2) Kids books on the subject of monsters. They usually had the look back pic of Patty in them. Bigfoot as a subject seemed to drop off after that until the 1980's when people could rent and later purchase a VHS VCR. At that point the video place might have 4-5 videos on the subject of Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot. This allowed those who had an interest to revisit the PGF. One could slow motion or freeze frame the PGF which was impossible 10+ years before. Where we are: Today the subject of Bigfoot can be found on the internet/ YouTube. There are shows, podcasts and so on. This is great. We have this forum and other forums out there as well. There is some level of public interest. Some have just moved on and say, "oh i heard somewhere in the news there was some guy in a suit who admitted they made the whole thing up." They moved on from the subject to other areas of interest. Even with all of this out there now, the public probably doesn't have a passionate interest in the bigfoot subject. It doesn't help when bigfoot is a symbol of silliness along with Elvis sightings. Les Stroud: If Les Stroud or anyone else can shine a spotlight on the subject of bigfoot I'll take it. Naturally I am concerned how credible people in the bigfoot 'movement' really are. Are they using the bigfoot fandom to increase their own brand? Are they willing to fake or fraud those in the subject to sell books, videos, tv shows? I know Les from Survivorman and have enjoyed his shows on that subject. If Les scores a new PGF or the equivalent of a Body-on-a-slab we will owe him a debt of gratitude. I'm not surprised the money isn't flowing in on the subject of Bigfoot because I suspect the public generally doesn't care enough. I don't know enough about Les and his associations with Bigfoot people to like him, love him, or hate him. I can only hope the more people who are known to the public who shine a light on the subject can help increase a serious study of the subject. That will take resources. If Les can generate them, great. Finally, we need to be cautious how someone with credibility can be used (knowingly or unknowingly) to whitewash a subject. While I don't believe in the Yeti per se let's not forget how Marlin Perkins or Sir Edmund Hillary investigated the Yeti on the surface and essentially declared it folklore or a hoax. I wish we who are interested in the subject of bigfoot wouldn't have to rely on people like Les to move the ball forward. Other than a few times where Munns or Meldrum and others get some TV time, the subject needs more oxygen. Mr., Stroud, I wish you well and good luck.
