Washington 1982 - Man Claims to have Hoaxed 1928 Bigfoot Tracks - Tirademan!

UPDATE 4 August 2026: This story published in the Santa Barbara (CA) News-Press on April 13, 1982 appears to be the the first, or at least one of the first, stories about Rant Mullens' claim to be the father of the Bigfoot legend.  Too bad for him that there are stories that predate his first claimed Bigfoot hoax by over 100 years.

This looks like an AP or UPI story as I found this clipping in the Carroll County (MD) Times, published on April 14, 1982. The "Victim of Rooftop Murders" does not relate to this picture but I leave such snippets in because it demonstrates that newspapers were placing Wild Man/Bigfoot/Sasquatch stories with the other serious news stories.

While searching the Forums I found one of Tirademan's original clippings.  Mullens also claimed to have faked the Ape Canyon attack.

to add T'man's story, then to add the original story.

UPDATE: I found what appears to be the original newspaper article, first published in The Vancouver (WA) Columbian on April 11, 1982.  Rather having two entries for the same matter, I'm including it here.
