Update 22 Sept. 2026: Added the same story, but cut into two clippings to improve the ability to read it.  While doing so I discovered that this is another wild man story that traveled the United States with slight variations to make it sound like a local story.  The earliest version of this story discovered to date was from March, 1868.  It will be posted in this forum in the future.
