New York 1896 - Wild Man Sightings Near Shawangunk Were Just Insane Union Soldier

Published in the Syracuse (NY) Herald-Journal on February 1, 1896.  Trigger Warning: Some language in this article may upset Forums members from south of the Mason-Dixon line!

I stumbled upon this article while looking for something else.  This part of New York could be good Bigfoot habitat even now and would have been more open in the late 1800s.  While the individual captured was clearly a human, his capture does not explain prior reports of wild creatures covered with hair.  There is a BFRO report from Ulster county in 1980s near Cragsmoor, which is near the Shawangunk Ridge.
