California 1870 - Two Hunters See Tracks and Two Gorillas

Published in the Martinez (CA) News-Gazette on October 1, 1870, skeptics apparently pounced quickly on this report.  That led to a lengthy letter to the editor revealing an earlier encounter, which is available at https://bigfootforums.com/topic/123404-california-1870-an-old-hunters-story-roguefooter/.  

 

NOTE: After setting this post up, I found a more fulsome account in the Merced (CA) Sun-Star; although it was not published until October 15, 1870, it appears to be republishing something printed in a third paper.  While that paper is included in Newspapers.com, there are limited editions from 1870, so the original article is unavailable.
