Oregon 1850s - Prospectors Scared Out of Laughing Devil Canyon

A lengthier version of possible Oregon Bigfoot events in the 1850s can be found at https://truwe.sohs.org/files/bigfoot.html.  The only newspaper article I could find concerning these events was from the Statesman Journal of Salem (OR); this column was published on April 02, 1939 but references finding the story in an earlier newspaper.
