Something Closed In on Two Boys in the Western Massachusetts Woods

At 11 years old, Antonio and his best friend were walking home through familiar woods along the Southwick–Westfield border in Western Massachusetts when massive bipedal footsteps began closing in through dense brush.


The movement stopped within 10–15 feet. A deep guttural growl followed, and both boys suddenly found themselves unable to move. As they escaped toward a nearby house, Antonio looked back and saw an enormous black figure standing beside the only light pole in the area.

Antonio shares the encounter he carried privately for nearly 15 years, the recurring screams and wood knocks that followed, and how that night permanently changed his relationship with the woods.
