Guest Twilight Fan
Cliff Barackman claimed this on tonight's episode of Finding Bigfoot. I'm wondering what he's basing this on? That seems like something the people of Ghost Hunters would say, not a field researcher about Bigfoot. I wonder if Cliff sees Bigfoot as some sort of supernatural being? Any ideas why a BF would hang around in a cemetery?
Guest Transformer
Smokey the Bear puts out forest fires and sasquatches kill Zombies because all creatures have their own place in the eco-system.
Guest MikeG
.......because they're semi-wild places on the edge of built-up areas.....that would seem like the obvious explanation. They're probably seen there disproportionately often because other semi-wild areas on the edge of built-up areas are not so often visited by humans. I suggest that this explanation, or any other concerning the nature and location of graveyards, be considered before giving any creedence to purported associations with death or the supernatural. Guest Twilight Fan
I'm just wondering why he chose the word "cemetery" instead of saying they are often seen near the edge of the forest/built-up areas. Why would he specifically single out graveyards? I don't know, but how many reports are there of Bigfoot staring at somebody's tombstone, I wonder... Guest BFSleuth
Whenever I have a question like that come to mind I use a Google search starting with "BFRO" and then whatever search term I'm looking for. Use "BFRO cemetery" or "BFRO graveyard" in this case and you get a list of sighting reports like this: "Possible vocalization and footprint found near Bachelors Grove Cemetery" http://www.bfro.net/gdb/show_report.asp?id=30601 "Sighting by woman visiting an old rural cemetery, near Logan" http://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=378 "Man remembers seeing a large white hairy man at a cemetery outside the city of Jay" http://www.bfro.net/gdb/show_report.asp?id=27477 ... the list goes on with BFRO sighting reports from their database and other links like: "Cemetaries and Squatches, Part 1 (blog) - http://www.stancourtney.com/wordpress/cemeteries-ghosts-squatches/ One of my favorites is in Morton, WA. A young girl watched a BF chasing a deer around a cemetery across the street from her home: "Woman recalls as a young girl possibly watching a sasquatch chase a deer through a cemetary in Morton" - http://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=28301 I think deer like the grass in cemeteries, and BF like deer. Incorrigible1
Cemeteries are often fairly accessible to the public, and non-local vehicles are seen in them frequently. I surmise those might be reasons those interested in searching for the creature might tend to try out the cemeteries.
Guest
I think Stan Courtney's website also has some interesting information on Sasquatch sightings and cemeteries.
Branco
For some reason, known only to them, they are often seen around old rural cemeteries adjacent to churches. The most common are the cemeteries/churches that were situated in small rural communities that have dissolved, leaving the church/cemeteries alone with no residences in the vicinity. Many of these rural churches are still active with people driving some distance to attend services. Some folks believe the BF hang around these places because there is little hunting around them, and believe the BF like to hear the singing on church nights. (One of the best of many examples of this situation is at a church/cemetery in a southern county in Alabama.) They are known to inhabit areas around old, remote Native American burial and camp sites, That situation is common in many areas of the SE, and probably elsewhere. Guest
The concept of them being around to hear the singing is great, I can envisage that. I didnt know about this cemetary thing until this thread but I might add that recently I discovered something that might answer where BF bones go. I wont say where I discovered it (and it will be to do with yowies here in Australia). Thinking on it now this could relate to the cemetary thing... I found a skull that is closer to human but much larger amongst kangaroo bones, and some kangaroo skulls. I was going to take a picture (could still go there and do that ) but I have to go on someones land to do this and also I feel Im invading a special ground. I think it possible they move bones, and that their is a time when they do this each year and scatter them amongst other creatures bones so it is not noticible (or perhaps ceremonial). I think this based on a few things I have seen. Perhaps they mix their bones with old human bones too?........... ......(good it looks like noone really noticed my post so I dont feel that I too betrayed a burial rite) Edited February 28, 2012 by Encounter
Guest wild eyed willy
The logic for me here is that there is more visability for people passing by in a cemetary, good unobstructed field of view offers more to see for the viewer.. With nothing else moving, any motion should stand out.
Guest alford anthony
Twilight, you read my introduction to BFF.Dont know what we experienced at the (graveyard) but it was crazy.I do suspect BF,because back then BF wasnt the rage in that area.Check out the BFRO website,go to Illinois, then to Sangamon county. You will find articles from the State Journal Register, some on Chatham,Sugar Creek area,Sugar Creek covered bridge, and Cumberland Cemetery (graveyard). My encounter with whatever it was took place 25 years ago in the vert same graveyard. Has BF been in that area for that long? ( Like all the other sceptics, why havent we found a dead BF? nothing lives forever) With what I know now and what I experienced then, I DO BELIEVE<HOPE SOMEONE FINDS ONE SOON> (TWILIGHT SAGA ROCKS) Edited February 29, 2012 by alford anthony

Guest
I would personally change that to say....death. Not necessarily cemetaries. Dead, soon to be dead...etc Do a search on deaths around the folks that have had sightings. But now I am straying into forbidden teritory.
