Guest Lone Squatcher Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 (edited) I applied to Alberta Parks for a permit to do scientific research within the Gregroire Provincial Park near Fort McMurray, Ab. Their reply was that I do not require a permit because it is not concidered scientific research because the creature does not exist. Have at it they said. So, away I went off into the woods to do my research. On the third day when I came to my campsite to cook some dinner, 2 conservation officers were waiting for me at my campsite. They evicted me from the park for doing sasquatch research. They told me that what i am doing is actually desturbing the wildlife which was against the law. they also told me that what i was doing was actually a form of hunting. I was officially evicted from the park for " Hunting Wildlife Without A licence. If this is so, shouldn't I have been arrested, Hell apparently I was hunting in a provincial park without a licence which is a more serious crime than hunting on crown land without a licence. By rights, I should have been handcuffed, arrested and charged with poaching and other charges. then they should have confinscated my truck, camping gear and all my technical equipment including my thermal imager then they should have halled me off to jail. This did not happen. They just simply did not want me there doing sasquatch research. So then why did they not tell me this when I allpied for the permit which they told me i did not need. I was trully a gong show. I attached the eviction notice so you all can see. Reason for eviction, Hunting Wildlife Without a licence, and as I said, if this were true, I should be in jail. Check it out. Click The check aboce then scroll down to see the eviction notice. Edited June 21, 2012 by Lone Squatcher
Guest BFSleuth Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Governments everywhere all seem to get their wires crossed... and their undies in a bunch...
bipedalist Posted June 21, 2012 BFF Patron Posted June 21, 2012 Hmmm.... seems to be a password protected forum splash screen.... how do you see the notice at that forum without having a user login?
Guest Lone Squatcher Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Here is the eviction notice, i figured out how to put it on the page
Guest BFSleuth Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 So you are evicted for 72 hours.... then what? You can go back? Sounds like something that could be challenged in court (at least in the USA).
Guest OntarioSquatch Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 It's possible they didn't believe your really searching for Sasquatch, but I had no idea we need a permit for science research in Alberta.
indiefoot Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 If they allow bird watching and wildlife photography, I don't see how they could keep you out.
salubrious Posted June 21, 2012 Moderator Posted June 21, 2012 Sounds like an intimidation tactic to me. There is something peculiar about this but I don't know Canadian law...If it were me I would have just moved my campsite.
Guest Twilight Fan Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Wow, that's really weird. It's almost like Area 51 but with Sasquatch...the gov thinks the less you know, the better for you!
Guest Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 (edited) Why would you tell them you planned on searching for Sasquatch? Why volunteer that much information? Next time say it's the elusive Red-Bellied Sap-Sucker that you wish to photograph. Tell them you are out looking for Sasquatch and I'm amazed they didn't search all your gear in hopes of finding a bag of lime and a shovel. Edited June 21, 2012 by Tautriadelta
Guest Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 'bout time the government got more involved in protecting Sasquatch.
Guest wudewasa Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Send an electronic copy of the warning to Jon Stewart so he can embarass them on international television.
Guest BFSleuth Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 LS - a question... when you were doing your research were you tree knocking or call blasting? Making any noise? If so, then I wonder whether they would then deem your activity a nuisance and trumped up a charge of "disturbing the peace animals" so to speak.
