Guest Cervelo Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 (edited) ^^^*^ J, My belief is 99.999999% of structures are natural occurring or manmade. The purpose of the vid was to show while I see this kinda stuff everywhere I go in Va and WVA to the point that if I stopped at evey "structure" I wouldn't cover a mile. But I do recognize the things that would make someone think something else is going on if that's what their looking for. I do not think anything in the any of the vids is anything but a natural occurring structure. Edited September 24, 2012 by Cervelo
Rockape Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I'm with Cervelo on this. Most stick structures I find unimpressive. Mostly because they are too easily natural or man-made. We used to make quick blinds like that all the time back when I hunted.
Scarecrow Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 (edited) As an Eagle Scout and former Boy Scout camp employee, I can not see any reason to think that these stick structures are anything but man made. The boy scouts learn to make these for their wilderness survival merit badges, mountain man rendezvous, Order of the Arrow ordeals and about a dozen other things including just for the fun of it like for a fort for capture the flag. I cannot count how many times I have made or started one of these structures. We even made these when just camping with my family or Church group. Everything I have learned about Sasquatch is that these creatures are the master of the forests. They have no need to break up their outline, or conceal themselves in a tree structure. And these type of structures only provide basic protection from the elements. They do not work very good against driving rain or snow. Sasquatch do just fine with their natural skills and abilities. Quite the opposite, to use one of these things would require them to squeeze into one of these structures, and then to get out of them would require some time and effort, hindering their ability to effectively hunt from or quickly get away to evade detection. There are lots of things that lead me to believe that Bigfoot is out there, but tree shelters are not one of them. Edited September 24, 2012 by Scarecrow
Sunflower Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Some of the shelters I've seen would certainly protect a little one if necessary.
bipedalist Posted September 24, 2012 BFF Patron Posted September 24, 2012 I find many elaborate structures that go beyond protective shelter or camouflage blinds. There are specific geometries involved which gives one pause to think that these are more than a monkey and more like a man. Ones I have seen go far beyond the ability of a boy scout to be communicating anything from dusk to dawn when none were in the area.
Guest Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 As I'm sure i mentioned in another thread.. The most impressive stick structure (for me), was one made overnight in an area we experienced activity. 99 % sure it was not made by nature, humans or beavers (had a recorder running in the same area). I don't know exactly how it was pulled off, or why it was constructed. It did not appear to be be done for observation purposes, as it would not have obscured anything. A marker of some form, would be my guess. All else, would be speculation. I do think.. that the vast majority of structures noted in the field, are either natural or man made, and hold no real value in this research. Sometimes, I see researchers (especially new and eager ones) putting too much emphasis on them. Still , there are a few I've seen (photos or live in the field), that cause me to wonder, and to consider.
Guest Cervelo Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I did put my game cam on the one "structure" ......already want to check it out. Maybe it will tell us who/what is chewing on the cedar tree.
Guest mdhunter Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 kbhunter, That deer kill is quite impressive to me. I've had to finish quite a few deer by hand (several methods) and breaking their neck ain't as easy as people make out sometimes. It's fairly long and flexible. Getting hold of one to break it in that fashion would border on super human. It's also not easy to spread the front legs in that manner on a dead one, much less a live one. As a side note that can be a fatal injury. It can break the ribs and puncture the lungs or heart and or separate the aorta. Even a smallish doe is pretty strong Not to mention how sharp the hooves can be. Did you do a necropsy? The thing that gets me is if it were a big cat, it should show teeth and claw marks.
salubrious Posted September 25, 2012 Moderator Posted September 25, 2012 I have mentioned this on another thread, but TimbergiantBigfoot on YT has a pretty cool video called 'Something , Has Been Here' (the comma is correct if you drop that text into YT). Certainly some stuff well beyond the scope of Boy Scouts and wind. He is careful to use the word 'possible' a lot but you know what he is thinking.
Sunflower Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Friends reported that 2 x 4's got moved around the yard on a nightly basis and I can't imagine the hairless neighbors from across the road are doing it. No boy scouts in the area it's private property and at another friend's house her garden furniture would be rearranged. A blind appeared at the end of her driveway near the mailbox, as if to watch her house and then one day it was dismantled and just gone. The spot where I take gifts and treats has been rearranged more times that I can count. I don't claim that the hairy guys are doing it because I didn't see them actually hauling dead trees and vines to that spot. It's private property as well but all I know is it's happening.
Guest SquatchinNY Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Apparently, there is quie a bit of evidence for that stuff being BF related.
