Guest OntarioSquatch Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 The Falcon Project sounds promising. I don't think anything like it has been done outside government operations. Can't wait
BobbyO Posted January 28, 2013 SSR Team Posted January 28, 2013 You'll have to wait Ontario, it didn't get the funding it needed to start. Less that 5% of it in fact.
Guest Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I think it sounds like a great project and I really hope that nothing goes wrong to screw it all up. The only thing I dont like is this (taken from that link) Its camera output will be streamed live on the internet, although there will be a “kill switch†in the command center – should a Bigfoot be spotted, viewers will only see the first few seconds, with the rest of the footage being saved for a planned educational documentary for the public. .....Aw thats not fair and is just asking for sceptics to pull apart the footage on the grounds of it being tampered with etc at a later date
Cotter Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 You'll have to wait Ontario, it didn't get the funding it needed to start. Less that 5% of it in fact. Hi Bobby, Where did you come across that?
Guest Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I got an email. It was letting me know, my donation was refunded.
Guest OntarioSquatch Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I heard they have more sources to get the funding from.
BobbyO Posted January 30, 2013 SSR Team Posted January 30, 2013 It looks like, per the Kickstarter page, they have failed to reach their funding goal. They generated only $11,865 in towards their $355,000 goal. Here Cotter.
1980squatch Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I got an email. It was letting me know, my donation was refunded. Wow. Did the email confirm that the project was cancelled or delayed enough that they could not keep your donation? i had considered sending them a little as well...
Guest Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 The email said that it did not meet its funding goal by the project deadline. It did not say anything about the status of the project.
Guest Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Why is flying up to 7500 feet such an important detail? Higher altitudes also less likely to “spook†wildlife.
bipedalist Posted June 22, 2013 BFF Patron Posted June 22, 2013 (edited) Being on the board of advisors, specifically helping with image analysis, I had suggested that some catalogue of thermal image signatures of known species and entities be assembled to then compare with an "unknown" the project may record in field service. Jeff concurred, saying he'd also envisioned that, as part of the initial test phase. So one of the fur costumes I made for my recent research will be tested as well, with a person wearing it at night and the craft tracking the subject above, to get reference thermal signatures of a person in costume who might try to "hoax" the project and see if we are fooled into thinking we've got a real sasquatch thermal image. That will be one of my contributions to the project, so there is data to identify a hoaxed biologic in a fur costume,if somebody knows the craft is flying in their area and thinks they can fake a sighting and then boast about fooling the project image analysts..
