After unsuccessfully attempting to locate a Sargent Township in Canada, I found an earlier and more complete version of this story printed in several United States newspapers. This is Tirademan's original article The earliest available version of the more fulsome article was published in The Daily Republican of Monongahela (PA) on September 3, 1887. And even that story is attributed to an earlier story published in the New York Tribune. Edited September 13 by Trogluddite To improve chronology and accuracy.
