I'd like to reboot this topic to see if anyone has seen anything else along these lines in the last year.

Also, there was a video posted on here a while back where an investigator filmed a crude shelter from a distance.  It was during the spring thaw, and a lot of steam (but no smoke) was coming out of the top of the shelter.  It was interesting to me because it is exactly what would happen as snow covering a shelter containing a heating midden would thaw.  The snow, which would act as insulation at temperatures well below freezing would melt through the roof onto the midden during the thaw, and the midden would be hot enough at its center to vaporize the water.

If anyone could find that video (I've tried), I would be interested in seeing it again.
