This seems to be quickly moving from the original grass roots approach to something more on the national level. It was never meant to go to the national level and pushing it in that direction IMHO will only lead to failure. And though I appreciate the intentions a national hotline would be a nightmare. The SRN is a LOCAL entity in that it will only activate when a BF has been sighted. The SRN is not for eye shine, footprints, howls, wood knocking, or any other secondary report. In other words it would not be responding to a Class B or Class C report. ONLY Class A's where a BF was actually seen.

Im confused.

This organization is only a local entity? Local where?

And why wouldnt the organization be interested in fresh footprints? If your goal is to get ahead of it? A track way is much much more valuable than a sighting....

Hiflier, do you envision having the northeastern states involved, as they don't yield too many reports?

Specifically, eastern Massachusetts has very few recent sightings but western Mass. does. Would the interlocking circles stop, or would they just get a lot larger?

At any rate I would consider being a part of it. Being retired I could hotrod out to the locale quickly at least most days. However, I  don't live in the right area (outside Boston). And what would be the qualifications in terms of sasquatch research?

i do hope you keep this idea alive; perhaps try it in one small area of hot spots in the NW.

Considering your locale it probably wouldn't be practical. Yes, Western Mass. does have some history as does East Central NH (more so). As far as Maine goes there is not much at all. A couple of sightings followed up on by Bill Brock in the last five years. He went pretty well after the fact and in one instance had YouTube videos from his drone but nothing came of it. I know a researcher about three hours away from me who goes out more North on his own and have been out with him a couple of times but there just isn't enough going on to warrant trying to cover this state's massive area. Never know though......

And yes why not work something up in the hottest areas? The PacNW and The Ouachita along with maybe Georgia and Northern Tenn.. Places like the Rockies would be geographically difficult. I think one has to be as attentive and as practical as one can be for something like this.

Having said that our group is fairly well connected, due in no small part to Thomas' connections

And you are very fortunate to have that, M., and the ideal situation would be instead of Googling and finding your website they would have a phone number on their fridge to call right away? Don't jump on that one too harshly because only the people that have had experiences would want to keep the number handy. The general public probably wouldn't bother even if it was posted in the notices section of the local newspaper. Or even at hunting or camping outfitter stores on a bulletin board?

If I ever find a body, I'm sending dmaker a plane ticket to come view it.  I figure the flight will give me enough time to get the crow pot pie ready.  :-)

Why? For concern of personal safety?

Yes.    I nearly got run over by an adult BF and the experience was frightening enough in the daytime, when I could see at least a few yards around me.  At night I would not even know that I had those few yards.   The best way to describe the experience of hearing the BF breaking brush and those big thudding footsteps headed right at me, was a scene right out the original Jurassic Park movie where the T -Rex was coming through the woods to get the tied up goat.   At night I would have soiled myself for sure.   We are nearly blind at night and by all reports BF can move fairly rapidly through the woods at near total darkness.    Solo in the woods at night in my opinion you are truly a sitting duck.  If you are stationary, giving the BF time to place each footstep,  you may not even hear it move in.  Moving to keep up with you on a trail, we have many witness reports of hearing them breaking brush in the wood line as they follow the human.  .   So at least move and not make it easy for them to remain undetected.    Best case scenario they will simply let you leave.   Worst case is forcing them to make noise to keep pace with you, but by doing that, you know where they are.

Cotter,   we will probably never hear a peep out of these scoffers should existence be proven, or they will morph themselves and be telling us now they suspected it all along but had to wait for scientific proof.

Pretty much like that.

My ex wife and I got shadowed / herded out of a lake we were going to camp at on our 2nd anniversary.  She remembers that night walk out very vividly.   She's got a masters degree in biology.  She does not believe in bigfoot but she can't find a viable alternative that accounts for all that happened.   If she can't, with her qualifications, it is vanishingly unlikely that there is another explanation.

The other definitive factor here is when I have been semi stationary and one is moving around, in stealth mode trying to keep behind cover,   the thumps of footsteps come in two or threes.     Apparently as it moves from tree to tree to maintain cover.     I could not readily identify if what was there was bipedal or quadrapedal making the noise.   In the case where it was moving and did not know I was there,  the footsteps were obviously bipedal as it was not trying to avoid making noise.

Thanks for sharing that. I agree with her on both accounts. Difficult to explain away

I would love it if I could get a bigfoot to chase after me in the dark.

He would get 500 eye blinding lumens followed by 500 grains of hard cast lead to the face.

How close are you to Bridgewater?   Have you heard of the Bridgewater triangle?  Any place coined as special by Lauren Coleman would be as good as any place to start an investigation.

Have you read any of the missing 411 books?  You might want to look in to the hunters edition.  My take on it, if BF wants you dead, you will not know until you are dead.  If they are chasing you throw the woods, they just want you to leave.

The missing 411 are just speculations and accounts.   There is even less evidence in regards to BF killing or hurting humans than there is compared to evidence of BF existing.   I'm of the belief that perpetuating the myth of BF as a big bad scary animal cements its place in mythology as far as the genera public is concerned.

Thomas Steenburg has his phone number on his vehicle, business card and website.

Don't discount having a small local sasquatch forum, most of my group met on the formum. It used to be quite active until we all started hanging out together.

It still helps for new people that either want to research or report a sighting.

I have, and I find some of it very compelling. Bart Shleyer for sure.

Unfortunately I guess? Ive done all of the things on the “not to do” list. (Hunted solo, worn orange, hunted in stormy weather, etc) And I do not have a single report to tell. Never had anything out of the norm in my adult life happen. But Ive only hunted once in the Cascades. Most of my hunting was done in the Selkirks and Rockies. Mostly you worry about Grizzly bears and I have had fresh tracks within 100 yards of my wall tent. You never eat bacon for breakfast again the same way for sure. ;) And our BC brethren have better stories than that.

If Bigfoot wanted me dead or wanted me out of the woods? I guess he thought better of it...... Dunno.

Would you mind describing the 'herded out' scenario a bit more?  Were there any shows of strength (deliberately breaking branches or the like).  Was there any smell associated?

I had a pal (and his pal) get 'escorted' out of an area in SW Oregon in the early 90's. It was a dry summer and they were out prospecting and came upon a small spring fed pond.  Whatever was up there wanted them out, they were circled with by something and it surely let them know they were there.  They ended up retreating back down the mountain, back to back, with their shotguns drawn.  They never saw anything only heard and smelled it.  It stayed JUST out of sight in the thick brush.

The small spring fed pond may have been the key to why you were driven away.    Water in that area may have been so precious to the BF they felt the need to drive you away from it.       I had a patch of forest in my research area and I kept hearing movement back in the woods when I was in the area.   I could not figure out what the draw was to the area initially.     Then I noticed what looked like a very old road.   But there were 100+ year old trees right in the middle of it.   I doubted that a road that old would have been there.      I finally figured out that what looked like a road, was a collapsed lava tube.  Excited with the prospect of finding an opening to an un-collapsed portion of the lava tube and potential BF lair, I followed the lava tube.    Then I discovered what the draw was to the area.     Water in the form of an artisan spring was bubbling up out of the lava tube.   That water was pure and year round.   The BF likely were drawn there for the pure water.
