BC witness Posted July 5, 2022 Author Posted July 5, 2022 @OkieFoot Yes, it was a very relaxed evening sitting around the fire, recalling past research outings, and planning new ones. We roasted smokies over the fire, and the light breeze changed direction often enough to make sure that everyone got their fair share of smoke. ;-) @cmknight I saw your FB post about the citizenship event, well done. I agree on the amazing amount of great forests around us. I've been exploring the backroads in BC for 60 years, and still regularly find places and views that I've never seen before. I love it!!

Catmandoo Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 ^^^^^ G, it is a dirty job but somebody has to do it. Again and again. 1
ShadowBorn Posted July 8, 2022 Moderator Posted July 8, 2022 You know Gigantor, those skunk apes do like to swim. It takes allot of work to be a skunk ape. So, I bet every so often they like to visit those beaches in Florida. Good luck in your research. 1

BC witness Posted July 12, 2022 Author Posted July 12, 2022 This past weekend was the warmest we've had here in the Fraser Valley so far this year. On Saturday, I hosed down the H3 and took it to a 4x4 show and shine. Of the 200+ trucks, there were 2 H3s and 1 H1 representing the Hummer brand. There were about $10,000 worth of raffle prizes, and a $2200 50/50 draw, and I didn't win a thing! 1
BC witness Posted July 12, 2022 Author Posted July 12, 2022 On Sunday afternoon, I drove out to the quietest mountain valley in the region, and explored all the old logging roads, right out to the headwaters of the big creek. In 5 hours out there I saw 1 dirt biker near the start, and 2 4x4s parked at the very end of the valley, probably hikers heading up into the alpine. I spotted several grouse, some bear scat, and some nice big deer tracks, but nothing Squatchy. I took 2 hikes along some very overgrown old roads, but the swarms of mosquitoes kept the time out of the truck short. On the east side of the valley, I couldn't reach the end of a couple of the roads due to snow banks blocking progress, but the west side road was clear all the way to the huge bluff that boxes the south end. The views from the high points were worth the drive. 1 1
norseman Posted July 13, 2022 Admin Posted July 13, 2022 Cutting out more trail. Finding more rock gardens as I go! Some may be too much. But the Newport property is shaping up to be a ORV adventure!

Been looking at property in northern Idaho alot lately and property nearby in Newport looks very affordable. Sold my rental house on Vancouver Island last week and if the house I'm in was in selling shape (mid renos, at the moment), I think I'd have my Visa already and be moving the family south. 1

North Idaho is dumb right now. I would move south of I 90. St. maries. Orofino. Etc. Get away from the lakes. Your welcome to come down anytime and stay here and go check things out!

I spoke to Mr. Hunster last year as Alaska is my first choice (I love the north) but I don't have any opportunities up there. 1
WanderingLorax Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 I got my long duration recorder out yesterday. Recording 6 hours a night, it will go for 36 days. Hopefully. We’ll see. This area is rarely visited other than hunting season. Most of the trails are overgrown and full of deadfalls. I’m worried about chipmunks chewing the box and mics. 1 1
WanderingLorax Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 (edited) We did find some oddities. And got a tree break or knock on audio. The granite rock wasn’t on top of the mushroom a few months ago. It’s about 10’ off the ground. The tree is probably nothing, just cool. Edited July 17, 2022 by WanderingLorax Wrong height 1
