I have been a dedicated volunteer all my life, from 4-H in my youth, through the Jaycees, Woman's Club, American Cancer Society, and so many other community and professional societies and organizations I've lost count. I have had incredible and amazing experiences. I have been humbled and blessed at how I have been put in places at times when I was needed to do something. I have met wonderful people and made my dearest friends through these activities - many of whom are on my friends list here. I have held leadership positions that have broadened my skills, and I have won so many awards that I cannot display them all. I am a better person for all I have been through, and I know that I have made the most of my time on this earth. However, as I'm entering the autumn of my life, it has become painfully obvious that helping others brings a disproportionate amount of grief, frustration, betrayal, slander, manipulation, theft, ingratitude, empty promises and disrespect -- all accompanied by convincing smiles that hide selfish, narcissistic, and downright evil ulterior motives. It seems that the older I get, the worse the people are whom I encounter. It's as if people nowadays simply do not possess the character of those I knew in my younger years. I am "retiring" from helping others because it has become too damaging to my spirit, health, reputation and bank account. But Dr. Ketchum was the one who to "took it public" by announcing she has severed ties with her spokesperson. I think it's starting to become clear who the flake is here, assuming Sally is not a member here. If she is, then I meant to say she's great! Sally, Dr Ketchum and hundreds more are all STILL dedicated to seeing the fruition of the release and eventual protection of this species. Unfortunately until we have publication, "the drama" is all there is to talk about.
