How many 30 dollar downloads do you think she'll generate from this?

100? 1000? that's not a lot of money considering the torpedo that is bearing down on her reputation.

Like all things BF, it's a circus. I however am going to wait to see what folks have to say about the DATA, which to my understanding is still not available?

I agree it's not a money maker at all. How many here have down loaded it? Not many and we're all interested. John Q Public isn't going to pay that to just read an article he won't understand anyway.

The only reputation she has is as a vet confirming the pedigrees of cats and dogs, who recently went out of business. I fail to see how this would have any effect on that.

The sanest statement yet.

"I won't accept bigfoot until you show me physical evidence."

"I won't accept physical evidence until you show me the DNA analysis."

"I won't accept the DNA analysis until you show me video."

"I won't accept video unless it shows the face"

"I won't accept video of the face unless I can see the teeth"

"I won't accept video of the teeth unless I can see the gums"

And so on.....

Well without a clear photo of the teeth and gums how can we know if they floss or not?

Ben Radford has read the paper.

Developing.

you might as well say your 4 yr old read it, radford will frown on the way and/but/or were used in a sentence, and claim it the reason the paper is bunk.

I read it. Of course I don't understand every bit of data, but I got the gist of it. It honestly doesn't matter what anybody here wants to believe or not believe. It's out there now. Science follows it's own path. Any scientist can pick it up and try to reproduce the findings.

There are 10 other names listed... just saying.

Melissa, you're absolutely right. It doesn't make any sense at all. This journal that supposedly has attorneys on retainer didn't exist until January; they've never published an issue, but they reviewed and accepted her paper, but change their mind due to legal advice and decide not to publish; so Melba buys them, changes the name and publishes it herself along with some high school level opinion paper on how mean academic scientists are.

But hey! For only $30 you can see the PROOF that the scientific establish didn't want you to see!

But wait! There's more! Act now and you get a bonus 15 seconds of footage of a shag carpet that breathes!

Yeah, I would say there are a lot of problems here.

Okay.. Question. Why would you buy a "reputable journal" and change the name - and not bring over the other papers published?? How does that give DeNovo any standing?

Now, maybe she bought it to get her hands on the reviews - but based on what she is saying - she already knows what the problems were. For example: Melba said they didn't like the stills... So, she took them out. So.... Why buy the journal if she already knows what the peer reviewers said? If she knows what was said, then information must have been sent back to her during the process.. Isn't that part of the process - telling the submitter the problems so they can be addressed?

This is making less sense to me all the time.

Anyone??

And here we go.....

http://neurodojo.blo...-or-vanity.html

From the article linked in this post... Note his critique has nothing to do with the science involved.

Now, I am a scientist who is on the record as people should sometimes submit papers to new journals.

I have occasionally taken a shot and submitted articles for new journals. Indeed, became one of my fastest papers to accumulate citations. I like to support new publishing ventures. Would I submit to DeNovo?

Nope.

There is no editor listed.

There is no editorial board listed.

There are no people who are identifiable by name anywhere on the website that I can see.

There is no physical address.

There is no phone number.

A section requesting people perform “Open peer review†has no manuscripts ready for anyone to review.

The bottom of some pages lists “denovoscientificpublishing.comâ€, which goes to a placeholder.

The journal was created with a service that “helps you easily design & create gorgeous websites with just a few clicks.â€

This whole thing looks completely dodgy, with the lack of any identifiable names being the one screaming warning to stay away from this journal. Far, far away.

I’m predicting this journal will never have a second issue. Meet me here in one year, and we’ll see if there has been any progress. Or if the journal is even still online.

Sorry new to this lol

My understanding is she bought this journal because it was the only one he paper passed peer review with. She wanted to preserve that when she found out they were not going to publish.

The revisions (such as taking out the stills) were for the journals it didn't make the cut for. At least that's the way I take it.
