Guest tracker
Were currently experiencing snow storms, i'll try to make it out. Last year i was too bold and I crashed through the ice on a side road that froze over after flooding. What a mess and a few k $ worth of damage to teach me an expensive lesson to respect the weather. Guest tracker
Okay i am back and kinda bushed from Westport Ont, Can, I hiked the Folly mountain area plus some snooping in other areas. This weeks trip was a compromise. The town of Westport is a popular little shopping town. So my family made the trek also. Small battles right? Anyways this nice town is between two lakes and has some big hils and lots of thick forest regions for outdoor activity in all seasons and great for BF's. I kept my cam inside my jacket from the start this time, But it was only - 5-10 and lttle wind. Also i had to cut the day short because of a pesky flu bug that zaps my strength as the day wears on. the hiking up and down the hills in 18 '' of powder doesn't help. Seen snow shoe tracks so that might help you under stand the effort. Anyways as my fam hike the trails i go off trail to search in ravines, thick density tree areas and at along creeks for fresh tracks where no one else has been. here we go. Question of the week, how big does a hill have to be before you can call it a mountain? Here's two links with some of the recent BF history. http://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=27961 http://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=24733 I tried last time to take a pic of the sign but I was having arguments with my camera. http://i52.tinypic.com/s5byb5.jpg Bigfoots view of the town from the ridge http://i53.tinypic.com/fb9pvb.jpg What the tree cover is like and our back tracks. http://i51.tinypic.com/mwzfo3.jpg possible rest area branches appeared aranged unlike other natural tree breaks in the area. http://i53.tinypic.com/4nypl.jpg further on down the ridge view of the other lake http://i51.tinypic.com/rj03y8.jpg hopefully a pic of a rare winter rainbow on the trip home. enjoy http://i54.tinypic.com/1zy8r52.jpg This week there was no current lead, just tracker making his rounds at some high activity areas. Not the exact area of the reports(private property) but up here all the water ways and forest are linked so they can be anywhere at anytime. So there's nothing for it except to keep on searching. tracker.

Sasfooty
We were fishing one afternoon in November when I found these mussel shells that something had eaten & left in a pile. At first I thought it was probably a raccoon that had done it, but there were no small animal tracks in the edge of the water & I thought it was strange that an animal would gather them up & sit in one place to eat them. While we were fishing, there were some familiar whistles coming from the woods. We caught a lot of fish that day, so we left a few hanging in the bushes for them. gigantor Posted January 18, 2011 Admin Share Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) Great thread Tracker! Before I became a skeptic about BF existing, but especially about it living in MD, I read everything I could get my hands on that was related to BF, scouted most of MD and dragged my girlfriend (soon to be wife) with me. I focused on bodies of water and their feeding creeks and streams. I was surprised to discover that there are no natural lakes in MD, all are man-made (dammed). I've been up and down most of the 200+ dams in MD over the last 6 years. Some of the out-flowing creeks are pretty deep ravines and isolated with 50 - 75 ft tall tree canopies, it can get dark down there even at noon! Here is Liberty Dam in Reisterstown, MD: Lock Raven Dam in Baltimore County: Savage River Dam in Alagheny County, which is a natural earth dam: Edited January 18, 2011 by gigantor

Guest tracker
Hey Gigantor, Nice pic's, Here's a tip from tracker for the guys. The big buggers like our ladies, so be carefull not to put them at risk or too much risk?. We thought we may of heard some unatural bird chirps from this area below. So I led my fam back to the van, no need to put them in danger or have them scared. I want them to continue to enjoy being in the outdoors & not to be affraid. Westport is almost a sort of write off Sasq hunting trip but good for shopping, I guess?
Sasfooty
Wow, Gigantor, those are nice pictures! I had no idea it was so pretty "up north". If there aren't a lot of hairy folks living there, they're wasting a nice place.
Guest
It is wonderful to see the images all. Nice work. tracker, many tell me that when they bring women or girls into camp things get livelier and they expect to have better success with vocal recording. Numerous people from all walks have told me that so I agree. I think its another aspect that might help with results if the gal is interested.. Care always though. Beautiful shots Sass and gigantor. wow.

gigantor Posted January 20, 2011 Admin Share Posted January 20, 2011 (edited) The big buggers like our ladies, so be carefull not to put them at risk or too much risk?. Thanks tracker. I never really worried about that because I always go prepared, if you know what I mean. That is, until the trip to the Savage river dam. It's near WV and PA, not much out there and very rugged country. We were scouting the dam outflow creek and I gotta tell you, it was spooky even during the day. The forest is so dense and the canyon so deep, that it gets dark after 3pm in some places under the canopy. I'd hate to get stuck there overnight. I slipped and almost sprained an ankle, that's when I thought that if you get hurt out there, a few miles away from the truck, no cell phone coverage, it could get ugly in a hurry. We don't go out like that anymore, not just the two of us. The problem is that it's very difficult to find people that want to do that kind of thing. Oh well... If there is one area in MD where BF might live, that is it. Edited January 20, 2011 by gigantor
