norseman Posted April 9, 2016 Admin Share Posted April 9, 2016 (edited) So older ones I guess since the link states 94ae my 94 timber is angle eject, however I like the ghost ring sight on it I am thinking of finding a flashlight mount for it though Wildwest guns has one. I run this one. https://beartoothmercantile-2.myshopify.com/products/guide-gun-light-mount-for-45-70 Would have to ask about a 30-30 or have someone turn it down. norseman Posted April 9, 2016 Admin Share Posted April 9, 2016 Mine has a weaver side mount on it. Works good. Though hate that I have to turn the scope so the rounds will eject. Still my .30-30 is my favourite of my rifles. Oddly enough one of the .303's I have has a similar mount on it. That just seems dumb to me as a Lee Enfield can have a top mount attached no need for a side mount. Is it the Pearson? http://mod94scoperail.com

Mine is just some weaver mount very similar to this (see link below). On a side note been looking for a good red dot sight for a mossberg (500 pump). Something for hunting and defense. http://www.opticsplanet.com/kwik-site-side-mount-for-winchester-94-27047.html Edited April 9, 2016 by Woodslore
norseman Posted April 10, 2016 Admin Share Posted April 10, 2016 How does that work? The scope is off to the side?
Woodslore
Well I can put 3 in the bulls eye at a 100 yards with it so I guess it works okay. It's not the ideal setup put gets the job done.
norseman Posted April 10, 2016 Admin Share Posted April 10, 2016 cool. im having problems visualizing it on the rifle, and shooting it with a solid cheek weld. Im left handed im assuming that would affect things?
Woodslore
Well it might. The solid but stock does cause a little difficulty at first. Though now it seems easier for me to line up on target. I got the rifle from aunt when she passed away. I could have changed it over but a part of just won't because of whose it was.

SWWASAS Posted April 25, 2016 BFF Patron Share Posted April 25, 2016 I watched the New in 2015 Jurassic Park movie last night because we had free HBO. I thought it interesting that the hero of the movie grabbed a guide gun of some sort like we have been talking about when he headed out to rescue the kids. Anyone that see the movie recognize the gun? Based on the size of the T-Rex like critter that was on the rampage I think he needed more gun. Not sure what that would be but whoever decides to clone or create a dinosaur better think that out before they do it. Don't make something dangerous you cannot kill. Kiwakwe
IIRC, a Marlin 1895SBL, in 45-70 or 450 marlin I'd guess. I don't think he managed to do any damage whatsoever with it. Hollywood got that right. They could have at least given the guy solids.
norseman Posted April 27, 2016 Admin Share Posted April 27, 2016 Plussed Kiwakwe on the right rifle. Although I think he could have done more damage with it as opposed to a SPAS12 shotgun from the first movie. http://www.range365.com/guns-jurassic-world
wiiawiwb
I love that rifle but would not use the rail so this model is on my list: http://www.hinterlandoutfitters.com/marlin-70483-model-1895-guide-gsbl-rifle-govt-lever-stock-stainless-finish-p-49795.html I was going to buy it last year but ended up getting a Dan Wesson 1911 instead. Going to grab this one some time this year. Edited May 4, 2016 by wiiawiwb

Going to grab this one some time this year. I know some folks don't care much about fit and finish but if you do, give a "JM" stamped "real" Marlin a look before you spend a grand on that Remlin. A very nice used 1895 GG can be had for around 450-500, pimp it out any way you like--extended mag tube, glove lever, peep sights, it'll still cost a bit less and you'll have a much nicer rifle. I've had a JM 444P and an 1895 GG, I've never picked up a new one that came close to their quality.
