BobbyO Posted February 18, 2014 SSR Team Posted February 18, 2014 Hundreds of thousands do though sadly. 5m tonnes of bush meat per year is consumed in Africa, including large primates.
norseman Posted February 19, 2014 Admin Author Posted February 19, 2014 The orangs fare about as well. Obviously indigenous people have to eat, but we should be able to trade beef for gorilla/chimp safety.
bipedalist Posted February 19, 2014 BFF Patron Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) Penetrating or adhering type projectile with gps, think exploding paintball with a bit of mouse glue for good luck or superglue that bonds to skin. Only way to go, add a few treble barbs if necessary and hang on for the ride. Tell 'em bipedalist told you, lol. http://youtu.be/81k7zGFlbzM http://www.starchase.com/how-it-workss/howitworks.html http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/US-Police-trial-Starchaser-GPS-tracking-bullet-1641.php http://www.examiner.com/article/gps-bullets-help-make-police-car-chases-safer And to keep track of your expensive technology while on the hunt: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ENS17ZM/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00ENS17ZM&linkCode=as2&tag=petsw-20 Edited February 19, 2014 by bipedalist
norseman Posted February 19, 2014 Admin Author Posted February 19, 2014 Do they make a shoulder fired system?
bipedalist Posted February 19, 2014 BFF Patron Posted February 19, 2014 Well if you are an air cannon expert i believe you could find a way, even if they don't.
norseman Posted February 19, 2014 Admin Author Posted February 19, 2014 A couple of concerns is: https://www.starchase.com/uploads/products/marketing-slicks-3.pdf It's about the size of a V8 juice can. And I don't think they are gonna sell to the public. I know game biologists use a tranq dart and then collar the animal with a radio collar, exactly the same technology as we houndsman use. I think in order for this to work for our needs, I think we would need to shrink that technology and rely on a more positive method of attachment. Like you say, a dart with barbs or something like that. Paintball guns are cheap and .68 caliber. But again, I think 400 grains of lead would be a much surer way to "track" the creature. Once we have a type specimen? By all means let's develop less than lethal tactics to study them.
Cotter Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Nope, we don't grill Ape!!! http://www.koko.org/world/kokopix.php?page=1217 Fair enough, so, will you send me a t-bone instead then? :-)
norseman Posted April 4, 2014 Admin Author Posted April 4, 2014 Standing it is what it is, but I did notice him mention a curious thing that could be tried. He claims bigfoot actually tracks humans, if true considering the source this could be an easy way to ambush Grendel. Find a suitable ambush point like a ledge, button hook back and watch your own back trail while using concealment. The only animal I have ever had do this to me was a cougar. 1
Wheellug Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 http://www.teledartusa.com/products/gun-dart-transmitter.php the only issue I see with usage of a dart is this animal has hands, thumbs, they could grab the device and yank it out.
norseman Posted April 5, 2014 Admin Author Posted April 5, 2014 I think the range and battery life alone would not allow the teledart to be applicable for us.
Guest Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I just read that there is supposed to be another BF in a freezer. Possibly the one that was in the tent peeker video. Testing on it is supposed to start in January. So this might already be done. Of coarse that has been before. We will have to wait and see. I am not pro or anti kill either way...Good luck in your venture. The person who made the claim that you mentioned is Rick Dyer. Rick Dyer no more has a BF body in a freezer, or anywhere else for that matter, than I do, and trust me, I don't have one. If I had a body, I would contact this forum, and have people from here that I truly trust to come verify it, and then have them tell me what to do!
Guest keninsc Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 There's only one rule of thumb I have with Rick Dyer, if he's talking, he's lying, he loves to lie, he has no problems with lying and he'll lie about the lies he's told and is going to tell. Other than that he's a great guy.
norseman Posted April 10, 2014 Admin Author Posted April 10, 2014 First lie? The squatch in the freezer gambit? No harm no foul.......we got suckered, it happens! Now? If you believe the guy? You need your head examined!!!
