Searching For Bigfoot In Oregon

Guest

Recommended Posts

So I've decided to start a thread here about my adventures searching for Bigfoot here in Oregon.

I've had multiple audio encounters so far... have not yet seen one. I will not reveal the location, only say it is outside of the Springfield/Eugene, Oregon, area, which seems to have a lot of activity in every direction.

ONE

Date: August 19, 2012

Weather: Warm and perfectly clear summer night

Time: 9:15 - 10:15pm

Location: Me sitting in my minivan watching the stars waiting for my son at summer camp

What happened: To summarize something that's posted elsewhere on the BFF, I heard whistling in the woods behind the camp and whistled back. We traded whistles for over 45 minutes, until the two whistlers were behind buildings about four car lengths for one and about six car lengths for the other.

Follow-up: The next encounter several nights later, but I also went out the next morning to see what was back behind those buildings... a plowed, very dry field and forest. There is also a gravel pit much further back there. The forest is typical Oregon forest - mossy, mulchy, full of blackberry brambles and difficult to navigate. No sign of people etc. Started trying to get a hold of bigfoot researchers.

TWO

Date: August 22, 2012

Weather: Warm and perfectly clear summer night

Time: 9:15 - 10:15pm

Location: Me sitting in my minivan, same parking spot, same place

What happened: The whistling started as soon as I opened my van door and sat down with my coffee, camera, binoculars and remembered that my little old cell phone has a record function. I began recording. Traded whistles again, back and forth. Then I tested my hypothesis by knocking loudly on the side of my van... and the whistlers in the woods knocked back. We then traded knocks. After about a half hour, there was a huge crash in the woods, which startled me... and then I became utterly terrified and got into my van and locked the doors. I basically groveled on the van floor in fear for 10 minutes and then it was over and done with. I opened up the van door again, sat down and traded knocks and whistles for another 10 minutes. Then I grabbed my kid and left.

Follow-up: A few weeks later, went out as close as I could get to this site. See #3. Called and emailed more researchers.

THREE

Date: August 31, 2012

Time: 2:30pm

Weather: Beautiful warm summer afternoon

Location: Me taking a short walk to see if I could locate the camp from a different vantage point, while waiting for my kid to finish up at day camp at the same place.

What happened: Walked out to where I could see down river, to get the lay of the land. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw something move down in the blackberry brambles and trees off the road, in the woods by an irrigation ditch. It was grey/black and moved slightly until it was out of view. I whistled for 15 minutes but didn't get any response and no more movement. In retrospect, I'm glad I didn't because I was all alone and only about 30 feet away from whatever it was. Personally, I think it was the back of a bigfoot, hiding.

Follow-up: A few months later, after all the leaves had fallen off half the trees nearby, I can see that there is a tunnel in the bushes (December), if you look through the trees and bushes from the right angle. I am not going to look in it, too chicken. But it does make me wonder.

Madison, do you have audio recordings yet? Sounds like the interaction was going fine. My guess is Dad or Mom decided to discourage interaction.

Hello Madison and have been following some of your posts. We are here in Coos Bay, and I have had some of the same experiences that you've had. One possible sighting but just a quick flash of movement. I've interviewed 4 eye witnesses.

The whistling part just floored me one evening and still can't believe it was a BF but had to have been.

MISCELLANEOUS

Date: September 3, 2012

Time: All afternoon

Weather: Hot summer day, last day before school started up again

Location: Cottage Grove Reservoir, Oregon, south of Eugene 20 miles or thereabouts

What happened: Took my son and his best friend out to the lake for an afternoon of fun, swimming and picnicking. While there, found what looked like a shelter/hunting blind off to the side. What was unusual about the blind was that is was built into the trees surrounding the picnic area, but out of the actual area, through the far end of the parking lot and was built in the brush... not on the soft lawn area. It was curious because it did NOT look particularly comfortable at all. Got great pictures. It would be a perfect spot to watch for deer coming to the lake. It's very nearby a creek emptying into the river that has had a lot of bigfoot activity, and is across the lake from where the London Tracks were found 6 months ago.

Follow-up: Called the one researcher who had returned my calls and gave him the information. Don't know if he ever followed up on it, as I know now that Oregon researchers are kept very busy!

FOUR

Date: September 16, 2012

Time: 1:30 - 5:00/5:30pm

Weather: Sunny and clear, 80 degrees, slight breeze

Location: River, near original site

What happened: I took my neighbor and her three kids to the original site, to the river, to see if there were any footprints on what I thought might be a sand bar. Turns out, it is NOT sand, but river rocks... hence, no foot prints. The kids were my nine year old boy, her two year old boy and 5-week old twins, which we each wore in a sling, with a backpack. The boys threw rocks and caught frogs and generally made lots of happy boy noises. My friend and I set up a blanket and enjoyed the last fling of summer before winter rains set in. She was interested in coming because she'd had her own experience with bigfoots a few years previously. We made note of close by farms and orchards, and the salmon and trout in the river, and lots of edible greens. We sat and played for several hours, and on our way out, because I was disappointed not to have found anything, I whistled, the same one I'd used the previous nights. We immediately got a very strong and close wood knock. I looked at my neighbor and asked if she'd heard it too... yes! Because the wood knocks were closer to our sons than we were, I began yelling at my son to leave the frogs and get up here to leave immediately. When I finished shouting, we got a very loud branch snap or chest slap. I hurried the boys up and we got out of there immediately.

Follow-up: Got a call back from one of the Oregon researchers and scheduled a time the next day to go out there.

MISCELLANEOUS

Date: September 17, 2012

Time: 5:30 - 7:15pm

Weather: Clear, warm and breezy

Location: Near original site, on the river

What happened: The researcher arrived and we (me, my son and researcher) headed out onto the trails that were parallel to the river and going back towards the back end of the original site. We walked on well-maintained/well-used trails that were three- four feet wide. We did not see or hear anything unusual, and did not find any clear evidence of the branch snap that my neighbor and I heard. We also did not find any trash or evidence of homeless folks or druggies living in the woods - it was nearly devoid of all human evidence, except for one campfire ring on the river (old). Did find many game trails and some trails that dead-ended in possible observation points where you could see into the camp areas. Noted how close to the hills we are and yet how close to town. Put up a basket of veggies and glow-in-the-dark stars. We whooped and hollared and got no responses. We did not pass any other people on these trails so deep in the woods this direction the whole time we were there.

Follow-up: Next encounter

FIVE

Date: October 5, 2012

Time: 6:15 - 6:45pm, dusk with night falling quickly

Weather: Warm and clear

Location: River near original site

What happened: My friend Mona and I went out to see if we could find the basket I'd left a few days previously. We arrived at dusk and I was scared... I did NOT want to be there in the dark. We found the basket, moved 6 feet away and shoved under a tree. It was empty except for the stars and a few shriveled dry green beans. On our way back, we started to hear vocalizations out in the woods on the paths paralleling the sand bar (river rock) that we were on. The noises could be described as "whoofling" noises,.. chuffing and huffing and woofing. Mona was fascinated but I just wanted to leave. We didn't bring any recording gear because I didn't have any and I didn't record on my cell phone (beginners mistake) because I had forgotten to tell anyone where we were going, so I called my best friend and was on the phone when the noises began. We walked the half mile (?) out on the paths and had to cross the river over the bridge to get to her car. When we were half way across the bridge, we heard a huge snap/chest slap behind us in the dark woods at the far end of the bridge. We'd been escorted out. I turned around and smiled at them, but they did not seem happy to see us! We did not see any other people out there at any time.

Follow-up: Heard from another researcher and made an appointment.

MISCELLANEOUS

Date: October 12, 2012

Time: 3:30 - 6:00pm

Weather: Drizzly and cool, overcast, leaves falling everywhere like snow

Location: River behind original site

What happened: Two researchers from a well known national organization came out and we met up at a restaurant. Was able to transfer my audio recordings of Event Two to his phone. We (me, my son and two of them) went out to the location and wandered around searching for several hours. We didn't find any bigfoot, but we did find lots of evidence of deer ahead of us on the trails (leaving lots of poop). We could not find the large trails because everything looked so different with the leaves falling and everywhere on the ground. We only found game trails and lots of those. We whistled, knocked on trees but didn't get any responses. There were no other people encountered at any time.

Follow-up: None

SIX

Date: October 16, 2012

Time: 5:30 - 6:00pm

Weather: Overcast, cool 60's

Location: A few miles upriver, my son and I were doing something else entirely, while waiting for results we took a short hike along the river

What happened: We walked up the paths that paralleled the river, killing time. I thought "that looks like a nice place for a bigfoot to live" so I whistled several times just to pass the time. Instead, we got two very clear wood knocks in reply! It was totally unexpected. It sounded like rocks clacking this time, not wood. My son heard them clearly - he had been arguing too much to have heard any of the other things he was present for - and was amazed. Now he believes, too. As we were continuing to whistle, every time I turned my back to look down the other way of the river, we had a rock thrown in the slough behind us. It happened three times. Then we left, as it was time to go and getting dark.

Follow-up: Google earth says the land there is actually an island in the river, one of many. The slough is probably 10 feet deep - too deep to wade across for homeless folks to get over there, I would imagine. Can't see who else would be there knocking and throwing rocks. Very curious. Across the river the other way are orchards and farms.

MISCELLANEOUS

Date: Sometime in the beginning of November

Time: Morning

Weather: Cool, overcase

Location: Several places on the river - near the original site, site of knocks/rocks and further up the river along a path on the edge of town

What happened: Went out to try my new audio recorder. At the river near the original site, i can see that the sandbar is now an island with the winter rains isolating it. Got nothing. Further on, down where we had knocks and rocks, nothing - though I did think I might have heard a yell - but I was monologing in my new recorder and by accident said exactly where I was, so I erased it (beginners mistake). Went out to the third trail and whistled... and out of the woods came two meth heads and I had to pretend to be looking for a lost dog. Very scary. Went home.

Follow-up: None, just wanted to practice with the recorder.

MISCELLANEOUS

Date: Early December

Time: afternoon

Weather: Cold and overcast

Location: River location near original site

What happened: I left a jar of honey, a slab of salt lick and a half dozen sweet potatoes as a gift. Went out alone, didn't see anyone else.

Follow-up: Next miscellaneous entry

MISCELLANEOUS:

Date: Mid-December, a week or so later than the above entry

Time: Afternoon

Weather: Cold and drizzly

Location: River location near original site

What happened: My friend Mona and I (she went with me and heard the vocalizations that dusk event) went to see if food gift was there or gone. While her daughter and my son climbed trees, we checked it out... the honey and salt were gone, but the sweet potatoes left. Nothing else, only saw one man and his dog.

Follow-up: None

MISCELLANEOUS

Date: Mid-December

Time: Not sure

Weather: Cold but not really applicable

Location: Coffee shop

What happened: Met with another researcher and hope to be able to find someone to go out there with who is knowledgeable. My friend Mona and I are willing to go out, but we lack experience and I'm sure we are making every newbie mistake there is to make! Heard some great stories, made a new friend I hope!

SEVEN

Date: January 4, 2013

Time: 7:15 - 8:15pm

Weather: Cold (40's) and partially cloudy, then fog rolled in

Location: Wayyy up in the hills in an area reputed to have lots of bigfoot activity according to local researchers, and that may connect via a creek system to the area where my original site is on the river. Thought this might be a travel corridor and was wondering if the bigfoot there were the same ones' I'd been encountering.

What happened: Mona and I drove up in the dark - VERY dark - a few miles up this street paralleling the creek. We brought the audio recorder and used it. The nearest house - in the rural/mountainous area - was about a half mile distant. There were NO lights anywhere. When I turned off the car, the stars were amazing. We rolled down the window and whistled. Mona wanted to hear more, so she got out of the car and stood by the door. I stayed inside. She heard a return howl off in the distance and got back into the van right away. I didn't hear it unfortunately. We continued to whistle and I tried whooping a few times for the first time. Discovered when you are nervous, it's hard to get a deep breath and to sustain a whoop! My whoops were rather pathetic, lol. We had parked about 50 feet from a ranger sign, I thought it would be good so if there were any bf, they could use it to hide behind and watch us. We looked but didn't see anything, no eye shine and no shadows, though it was very dark. Mona heard movement in the forest so we started up the van and locked the doors. We waited another 20 minutes and she felt watched. After being there for about an hour total, we left and headed back to pick up our kids from the sitter.

Follow-up: Upon listening to the recording device, it appears that when Mona got back into the car in a hurry, she shut off the recorder. The audio cuts off right after Mona hears the howl and gets back into the car. I cannot hear the howl on the audio, but this stupid recorder has no "pause" or "rewind" or anything, so I can't re-run it to listen. I have to listen to the whole 35 minutes it recorded of us talking. For some reason, the recording starts again when we are on the edge of town and records the last 15 minutes of our evening. There is a stop between the first 35 minutes and the last 15 minutes.... all the time between when Mona heard the howl, the remainder of our time there at the rural mountain road, and most of the drive back. Very frustrating. Next time - check the recorder to make sure the stupid thing is actually recording, especially when you actually GET something worth recording. I think we'll go back during the day to drive all the way up and see what it looks like in daytime.

EDITED TO ADD: I have emailed the researchers from the nationally known bigfoot researchers organization three times, and have had no response to my emails. I would like to know whether or not they were able to tease out any of the knocks and whistles I recorded in the four recordings I gave them, but I guess I'll never know. Disappointing. I will only work with local Oregon researchers from now on. Luckily, we have some of the best researchers in the biz here!

Thanks roblester, I read it and responded. I want to post some of what I posted there, here, so folks will know why I started another thread...

"I started this new thread because I intend to continue with the observations and encounters as we are able. I used a different format and welcome questions such as yours. The other one was all "OMG, THIS IS AMAZING, WHAT IS GOING ON", but this one, I want to put up to research and other standards. I want to post pix and audio as I'm able to figure out how to do so. And, I am saving up for a GoPro Camera, and want to start making my own videos. There's no limit on the numbers of posts you can make, so I want all my "research" and ongoing experiences in one spot, so people will know where to look. Eventually, I may team up with others like yourself or geo while going out there, or with known researchers, if they give permission to be on film. I want a "one-stop" thread to post it all on".

:)

Thanks! And happy searching to you!

Madison, my probable Bigfoot experience was also this past August. I've been reading like crazy ever since! I know you want to keep your location secret, but I'm very interested in local activity, and who the local "experts" are. Since I like to run and hike, and many of my friends are trail runners, I'd really like to know areas of activity where I might be running that would have potential bf activity. Is there any information you can share?

To Madison on this...

Would you share your locations to people who live near you?...In PM'd?.....Not like a herd of people will show up after all. ( Meaning, we know this living here )

Agree, Roblester. You're down south a ways? I'm in Eugene. I'm getting the impression that there are quite a number of bigfooters in this town - but other than the woman working the Clinique counter at Macy's, I haven't met any of them. Feeling very lonely in my unusual pursuit. :)

Maddison....I would like to come up around Summer time, and research what you are claiming also. I have over 20 years bow hunting experience, and add another 15 rifle hunting. I am familiar with the " out doors ", and have never had anyone give me the chance to follow up on anything. Having a " skeptic " look also may answer some questions. I was a avid believer, until I did more research other then crypto sites, and my own going out. I had " structures " video and pictures posted a while back on another site. After 3 years, I know what caused them, and it is far from what 90% of my suggestions were.

I am not saying nothing is out there to you, I am saying I would love the oppurtunity to be able to go out to places where claims are made and look and listen myself.

PS.....Can you do anything to keep Chip Kelly at Oregon?....PLEASE!
