Soooooo much simpler that way. I've apparently "exceeded my quota of positive votes for the day" ( - the hell?), or I'd upvote your post.

I plussed it for you.  Thanks BobbyO!

I just read a news story saying Sykes results are that bigfoot/Yeti DNA matches an ancient bear. It seems to already have been pulled.   http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/new-research-finds-bigfoot-dna-matches-rare-bear-8884811.html

Nice job, thanks Wildman! Its already been deleted, but traces of it are still up. Looking forward to how he explains Zena then. She surely wasnt a bear. But then, wasnt it "bear" DNA on Smejas Shoe, when it was tested the second time? BearfootForums 2014? We will see :D

"Prof Sykes [...] revealed: “The hairs did not come from a yeti. The American black bear result was highly unusual. An explanation could be an animal escaped from a circus, zoo or private collection, but it is extraordinary.â€"

I hope he didn't get the Yeti sample mixed up with the Smeja sample ?? ;)

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I've never read any reports of "Yeti" doing such things.

I think everyone is missing something here. Those results are for the Yeti, everyone seems to be confusing that, even the news articles. He makes no mention to the Bigfoot of North America...

That and the title of his book makes me doubt that he will publish any conclusive findings about his Sasquatch research at all.  From http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/new-research-finds-bigfoot-dna-matches-rare-bear-8884811.html

 ...

A book by Prof Sykes about his research, The Yeti Enigma: A DNA Detective Story, is to be published next spring.

I think that is why there is no academic paper mentioned anywhere by anyone and why there are no dramatic leaks about a discovery -- he has a somewhat interesting story to tell about playing detective with DNA but he doesn't have anything to unveil about the Sasquatch creature itself.

@shoot1: Well, there is a academic paper mentioned in another article about the finding! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/10384000/Yeti-lives-Abominable-Snowman-is-part-polar-bear-and-still-roams-the-Himalayas.html

It is important to understand that in europe every bipedal Cryptid is called Yeti. As the Yeti is the Bigfoot of the Himalaya in the US, BF is the Yeti of north america in europe. Although I dont realy think much more will come out of this, some findings about BF and Almasty might come up. It was already mentioned that he found something about Zanas DNA. Maybe just a marker for a now known genetic failure, we will see.

@Austin: Well said. The Yeti is one of the least documented Cryptids, with the least evidence of it beeing anything humanoid or apelike. What made the "Abominable Snowman" were the famous mountaineers and scientists that reported all kinds of stuff. However since the german Himalaya expedition, it was proposed that the Yeti is a bear. Also Reinhold Messner came to that conclusion. If you remember Josh Gates track cast is actually the best ever, nothing to compare to BF tracks.

I'm not looking forward to the inevitable wailing and gnashing of teeth...  BF DNA will mean something when it is drawn from a steaming carcass...
