Guest shoot1
@shoot1: Well, there is a academic paper mentioned in another article about the finding! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/10384000/Yeti-lives-Abominable-Snowman-is-part-polar-bear-and-still-roams-the-Himalayas.html His new research, which has been submitted for publication in a peer-reviewed science journal, will feature in a new Channel 4 documentary series, Bigfoot Files, which starts on Sunday. Can't believe I missed that.
Guest
Lets just regroup Monday and leave this thread for a few days. Its seems like it will be quality entertainment for sure regardless.
Lake County Bigfooot
Finding a previously unidentified specie of bear, that some may have thought a Yeti, may still not explain the whole Yeti thing away, if footprint evidence suggests that a primate type specie was present, it is certainly possible that both exist. Just the fact that a bear existed undiscovered for all these years should make you take pause and wonder. To summarize I think that this should be encouraging to Squatchers. We do not have the patent on Crypto creatures, but the fact that one has been discovered, that has defied our study for the last 100 years, should shed light on the possibility of others existing. It is really pretty amazing, and we should expect more discoveries based on this initial genome study.

At least species of bear are recognized as official creatures. Bigfoot? Disregarded as complete myth.
indiefoot
Is Dr. Sykes suggesting that DNA evidence can determine the existence of a large mammal to any degree of certainty? If the results point to a new bear in the Himalayas and everyone agrees, what if the DNA findings point to something different in North America or Russia, or is DNA only reliable if it says what we want it to say? Guest
That is a good question indiefoot. If this discovery of a previously unknown animal (such as this bear) via DNA can be generally accepted - does that set the stage for using DNA to prove something like BF? Arrowhead
I have a simple question - Who's the giant dude that gets out of the car in the commercial? He's got to be at least 7'-6". Wonder if he was a BF stand in?

Oonjerah
Nikolai Valuev, Russian boxer, was World Champ; guess he didn't care to stay in shape. Sykes oughta test his DNA IMO.

Guest blackbriar
Looks like they have their heart set on a "special bear" here's hoping the next shows aren't as disappointing.
Guest
I've just seen the first episode. There's not really much in there that hasn't already been aired in the press, except one very interesting piece on how bears walk that shed light on yeti footprints.
