steenburg Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I do not have cable T.V. So the only parts I have seen is what someone loaded on You Tube. There are things folks are criticizing about the program and of course they for the most part do have a point, but only to a point. What I mean by that is I to hate the, (Blare Witch) type atmosphere this and almost every documentary on this subject has adopted. But I must point out that these programs are aimed not with the researcher in mind. They are aimed at the general public which only give the Sasquatch question about 15 minutes of thought a year if that. And the general public love this type of approach. The scary music, the camera stuck to the guys face as he is walking through the woods in the dark, etc, etc. If the script were geared to what Thomas Steenburg would like. The general viewing audience would tune out very quickly and the ratings would drop like a stone and the show wouldn't last past a few episodes. One has to remember that the producers are trying to garner public interest so they can at least try to last a season or two and hopefully come up with something tangible to show in a future episode. In the mean time bring out the monster stories to get the interest going. Also in the Bigfoot community allot of people have problems with MM and the way he does things. I myself have raised a eyebrow when listening to some of what he has to say but I really have never had any real problem with him or the BFRO. If he is able to follow up on reports than as far as I am concerned all the power to him. But at the same time do not hold back on thoughts and criticisms about how they are doing things and the conclusions they come up with for maybe they producers might take some of what other researchers suggest to heart and adjust the programs future episodes . If not well just sit back and realize that the general public are being entertained and hopefully starting to think a little bit, despite the fact that this program as well as most of the others are not treating this subject with the dignity we wish they would. Guest Ufo Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Hey guys! If you miss the skunk ape episode, here it is : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxstpJHZuXQ&feature=related Enjoy!
Guest wudewasa Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 I can understand why folks here liked the show. The police cam was of a sasquatch. Tracks found were made by a sasquatch. The thermal was of a sasquatch. The howl or yell was of a sasquatch. Conclusion: sasquatch is real and lives in Georgia. This is what the show's target audience wanted to hear. It heard it on Finding Bigfoot. jerrywayne, What an interesting parallel to this scenario: It's a SQUATCH, it zapped me with infrasound- I got better!
Guest Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Oh No, Pter, It's called chem 100 for people who don't need the higher sciences, but must meet academic requirements to be able to play. Shhhh, it's a secret. Actually, on the science side of the campus I attended Chem 101 was called nursing chemistry, but Geol 101 was called rocks for jocks. I like the ring of the latter, and can't think of anything to rhyme with chemistry.
Guest Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 (edited) I didn't catch the first episode shot in Georgia until a couple of days ago. Why did they promote the debut being June 5 and sneak in the actual debut on May 30? Odd. A couple of things that bothered me: Matt lead the flyfisher witness, thus influencing the witnesses responses. One might assume a witness would be eager to please the head of the BFRO, so answering for the witness to get him to agree to an unreasonable position is not a valid form of questioning. Matt is an attorney; he should know better. Cliff measured the stride length from toe to toe. However, I can curl or splay my toes between steps, thus altering the length of my foot -- not by a lot, but the proper measurement would be from heel to heel. The stride measurement is a minor issue. Matt's behavior I found shocking -- I'd interview a witness to seek information, not to lead him astray or substitute my preconceived notions (in this case -- that the witness was lying) for his. Despite these issues and the methane blunder in Florida episode, I'll watch the entire series. Edited June 10, 2011 by Pteronarcyd
Guest Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Matt went to law school but he has not passed the bar. I don't know if he ever tried but I know he hasn't passed the bar anywhere. I guess it depends on what your definition of attorney is but as far as I know he is not. I agree that if he hasn't passed the bar he isn't an attorney, he just has a law degree.
Guest Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Matt being an attorney does not mean that he can't make a mistake by trusting someone.. This isn't BFRO's first TV show. (1) When will he learn? (2) How much does he value the reputation of the BFRO?
Guest CaptainMorgan Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 My wife watched it with me and we both commented on how we were a bit taken aback by the interrogation of the witness. A common dialog in the BF community as a whole, is how there is such varied appearance from one geography to the next. Even prints are different. Combine this with the fact that the witness was looking up toward the sky to what would be a more shadowy figure, and some of the details would surely be skewed. Not because the witness was lying but because of the physics involved. The badgering in order to usurp that HE was the expert for the camera came off as rude and callous. How do you think the witness feels now that he has been broadcast on national TV and will forever be part history as the one person MM says he has doubts about? I would be deeply offended if I saw this program and found that my efforts to make his show successful was rewarded by practically calling me a liar in front of the world. Good thing Bobo was there or MM could have got pummeled. I can understand how Matt has been slighted by the editing of the program, perhaps he should consider how others feel slighted. Just sayin. .
Guest Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Hello Folks. I'm new to the forum but not to this subject matter. IMHO I think that everyone should remember that this kind of show is first and foremost for entertainment and is not geared to further the cause for unbiased research and investigation into the possible presence of an undiscovered North American primate. AP is in the game to make money and that only happens if the show is entertaining and draws viewers. As others have noted, this production follows much the same formula as other "dramatic cam" type shows populated with true believers (i.e. Destination Truth, Ghost Adventurers ect.)because currently that's what works to draw in viewers. You also have to remember that MM and the BFRO are not the only game in town so if they tried to flex some "creative control" muscle with the production I have little doubt they would have been told to take a hike. How long do you think it would take AP or the production company to have found replacements for the BFRO 4? Not long. There's no shortage of folks that want to be on television trying to "find Bigfoot". The BFRO team does however own everything it says or does that ends up on the show good, bad or indifferent. Shows like this can affect a person's reputation either in positive or negative fashion. We know how this series will finish because we've seen it all before (unfortunately) so let's just sit back and let the rest of episodes spin out.
Guest billgreen2010 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 hey everyone is there a new trailer link for tommarrow nite all new finding bigfoot segment im definetly tuneing in to be continued keep on squatching
Guest Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I think the Animal Planet people apparently picked the right combination of *characters* to make the BFRO team more entertaining. Moneymaker is the leader, with his smooth charisma and confident presense........Bobo is the big loveable, wacky guy who serves as the comedy to work off of Matt's straight man role......Barackman is the brains, reasoning, and statistics, and the gal is the needed female component. But seriously, the second episode was an improvement over the first, but they are still a bit too willing to deem everything a bigfoot, or signs of a bigfoot. But its all entertainment, and nothing more. Anyone expecting *good research* out of this are going to be letdown. Know that going into it. Accept it for what it is. Entertainment..........fluff. But I would think they could be a bit more discerning, even if it is only entertainment.
Guest Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 IMHO I think that everyone should remember that this kind of show is first and foremost for entertainment and is not geared to further the cause for unbiased research and investigation into the possible presence of an undiscovered North American primate. AP is in the game to make money and that only happens if the show is entertaining and draws viewers. You are enabling pseudoscience with your position. I'm sure Dr. Michio Kaku, the theoretical physcist from City University of New York who has hosted multi-part science specials for the Science and Discovery channels, would acknowledge that the channels are in the game to make money and want an entertaining show. However, Dr. Kaku does not appear to tolerate the channels ridiculing his science or to provide incorrect information during the course of his shows. As others have noted, this production follows much the same formula as other "dramatic cam" type shows populated with true believers (i.e. Destination Truth, Ghost Adventurers ect.)because currently that's what works to draw in viewers. How long do you think it would take AP or the production company to have found replacements for the BFRO 4? Not long. There's no shortage of folks that want to be on television trying to "find Bigfoot". Most women desire to live a comfortable life. Many search for a reliable man and get married. Some become prostitutes. It's a matter of what principles a woman has. The BFRO bills itself as "The only scientific research organization exploring the bigfoot/sasquatch mystery." After two episodes, how many truly believe they are coming across as advertized? If the BFRO wants to be taken seriously, they need to talk to Dr. Kaku and other esteemed scientists who host successful science specials.
Guest CaptainMorgan Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 If the BFRO wants to be taken seriously, they need to talk to Dr. Kaku and other esteemed scientists who host successful science specials.
