Hey Irish........I was looking at that skull the other day, a mature animal, and so tiny, too bad the incisors fell out before I found it. There are Ring-tailed Cat's around, and I've only seen one (living).

Here are some better pictures.

that skull is too small to be an adult ringtail cat. I had a magical moment one moonlit night camped at the base of El Capitan in Yosemite when a ringtail cat came right over a boulder next to me and we locked eyes for several seconds before he silently cruised on down the boulder field. I could have easily reached over and touched him.

In moonlight those eyes really glow! I'd estimate his skull would be about 3-4" long, including snout.

The skull got crunched pretty good by whatever killed it.......I'm starting to think some type of Wessel as Irish suggested. What type of Wessel's are this small......any Wessel guys out there?

I am totally stoked, will be on the river in my kayak both during the afternoon & night tomorrow, until around 11:00PM....should be interesting. I'm doing a 2-nighter to a fairly remote area, and only accessible by kayak or similar. I will certainly try to exhibit some odd behavior to peak the interest of those who 'creep around during the night' :)

While on the subject.......what do you guys think this is? The other is a Black Vulture.......loaded and ready for the river.

Now I'm intrigued about the potential weasel skull. Did a google image search for "weasel skull texas" and came up with this, but it looks like a much shorter snout than your little skull...

Had a great trip, but was a sad one too. My wonderful camp since the 60's, and base camp for one of my main BF research areas, has gone from a beautiful forest to something that resembles a Mars landscape. My fears from last year came true, as the entire area was ravaged by fire, completely devastated, and burned to the ground. The rocks are discolored, and many are breaking apart.

I climbed to the top of the main peak which usually takes several hours, and made it in one hour due to the lack of underbrush, but the footing in the loose soil & rock was treacherous. Since this particular mountain was the center of my research, I will have to find another area, as it is burned from the river bank, all the way to the top, and down the other side.

I also made a video of the destruction, showing the distruction & the new life that is coming, and will post a link to that in a few days.

A picture of Izzy in my Kayak, and the now barren research mountain in the distance, the other picture is my 'lush' campsite as seen from the river.

Already getting hot, and the creeks are drying up.........need some rain please!

Had a nice hike yesterday, found an older print, with a bit of (my) dog overlay, but still showed outline, and 3 toes.

Also ran accross a Hognose Snake, and he went into full display for me, starting with his best Cobra imitation, with load hissing, followed by rolling over & playing dead......pretty snake though.

And for the ladies........a fresh cactus flower.

Nice guardian for your Grand-daughter BeachFoot......she looks safe with him.

Did some hiking this weekend.......and a nice rain storm Saturday night. Was out early Sunday morning, and found a few fresh prints.

A rather large Hog, and what appeared to be a large barefoot 'human-type' print following, with the best print shown in a gravel area near the creek.......both hours old, and after the rains.

Empted the fringe........and set up a little feast in a very secluded area. Trying out my new Bushnell HD video Game Camera.......should be fun to watch!

I just read a report at www.texasbigfoot.com that was recently added, and is right down the highway from my main research area, centering around the game preserve mentioned........there's his foot print in the above post!

The print pictured above, and others not good enough to photograph, appeared to be trailing and after the hog, print also pictured above. The hog left plenty of sign, which included sign of evasive hiding maneuvers twice, and running into thick brush before I lost track. Here are some pictures of the area, and taken the same morning; the creek both were walking down, and an area where the piggy was hiding for at least a few moments.

Went down the road a bit, and located the area of the Texasbigfoot.com sighting. It certainly fits into a pattern of behavior, and is in very close proximity to the Power Lines that go through the area. Plus, I know the hills well, and think I know where he may have been heading. At any rate, will be hiking that area soon, and the little private man-made lake he may have been heading towards.

Pictures of the road both ways, the creek he must have been hiking down where the btidge is in the photo, and the high Game Fence mentioned in the report.

Some good rain over night, and new prints always waiting.......great hike this morning, and a nice print right buy a creek, wasn't there yesterday. And just beyond this print, along the same creek, this perky grass from the rain, showing where something heavy came through just after the rain early this morning, and laying down a nice path. The grass will perk back up within a few hours, so it was relatively fresh when I came through there. Also, a cool picture of Lucy......she really just blends in to the surroundings.
