Sasquatch Summit

I wish I could go to this event. All of the best will be there!

Meldrum, Gimlin, Barackman, Paulides, Noel, Randles, Ellis, Baker, Powell, Townsend, Edwards and Johnson.

Sadly, no skeptics are scheduled to present a counter point of view for this event, so it will be a one sided affair. Still, it should be a treat for those who can attend.

I highly recommend it if you can make it.

I beg the presenters to please post a synopsis of the event in this thread after it is concluded so we can discuss it. It would also be beneficial for everyone if the presenters would make themselves available in this thread to answer questions from the membership.

Thanks!

p.s. I'm sure the admins will guarantee a question/answer format that prevents trolls from harassing  the presenters....

I dont know that it is necessarily sad.  That comment sparked many thoughts in my mind in favor of "skeptics" being there and not.

On the not side-- just because a "skeptic" inst there does not mean no one there will be practicing skepticism.   Skepticism is a trait that many have even if they do not define their identity as such.

The other thought in favor of not inviting a skeptic is around the question of what kind of discussion are they wanting to have and who is doing the discussing and presenting and who are their intended audience?  IF a significant percentage of people there have had class A experiences with Bigfoot and there are a good number of people there who know these men and women and can take them at their word, then a skeptic might not have a place in that kind of conversation -- although skepticism around examining evidence still would. It says nothing about the worth of the skeptic.  In this case it would just be a matter if some people having knowledge that is certain, but which cannot be proven indefinitely at the present time.

There are just different kinds of interesting conversations to be had.   If there are people there who KNOW and they want to get on with the how and where and why of it, then skepticism around the existence of Bigfoot would just be in the way of that conversation.  Someone who knows for sure there is Bigfoot could still deeply enjoy an enriching conversation with a skeptic-- but it would be a different kind of discussion.  Certainly the people putting on the event have the right to choose the kind of conversation they want to have.

On the other hand if the whole shebang were put on by a group of neutral people wanting to hear evidence and arguments from both sides of the debate then in that case there would have to be skeptics involved.  When I first got into this subject i watched a video showing the tops of pine trees being broken off about 13 feet in the air and Bigfoot was offered as an explanation for it.  I did not believe or not believe it-- I just took it in.  Then later I stumbled upon another explanation that seemed more likely to me-- snowmobiles in the winter.  But that explanation could have come from a "skeptic" or a person who had had a class A experience who was capable of being skeptical.

I think it just depends on weather or not a number of people there really do know there is Bigfoot.  If yes then they are perfectly within their rights for furthering their knowledge not to invite "skeptics" to present there.  It all comes down to that big IF and neither you nor I know the truth of that.....

I dont know if there is Bigfoot or not, having not had a class A experience.  I do know two people who have had these and I believe them.  It would be fine by me if it all turned out to be bull%#+* but I dont think it is at the moment.

Just affirming what gigantor said.   Anybody can post events to this thread as it is a community calendar kind of thing.   I know there are several that want to keep this thread pure.   I am not averse to discussion of philosophies of Sasquatch, but in this thread it will NOT be about whether they exist or not.   Trolls and discussions of that manner/matter will be edited or deleted.  Threads about Sasquatch presentations in the conference room/the field and what the opinions are of the presenters may be welcome but this will not be a Denialist Fest thread.   Thanks and I will do my best to make personal contacts at the conferences letting people know what the BFF would like to see from them in the way of follow-up to this thread on gigantors suggestion.   If this is not in keeping with what the director and admin wants please feel free to edit my oversight..

Sorry for sitting on my haunches lately and not being as active posting to the thread of late.  Thanks to gigantor about the suggestion, I will work on it in advance of the conference and try to print up a business card for the BFF (humor).

I'll be in Hawaii this year. We rented a house on the beach last year just up the coast from the casino and saw lots of Elk and the worlds largest Sitka spruce as well as played on the beach and ate good seafood.

We also got to meet Bob Gimlin, and buy some goodies.

It was fun.

That's a good line-up.   The timing conflicts with deer hunting which is a higher priority.   If I tag out early and they're still selling tickets, I might go.

I think the stars just aren't going to align for me by, hopefully/unfortunately, a matter of a couple of weeks.

I'll get out in Spring though.

Any chance they will upload some footage of this to YouTube?  I've been trying to find recent interviews from many of these people and haven't really come across much.

BobbyO--  thanks for posting that up I am just getting ready to watch it.

I am new to this subject as far as really starting to look more deeply into it so actually ANY links to credible people would be greatly appreciated.   Also it occurred to me to YouTube Sasquatch summit and indeed there are some links that have come up.

Well I'm registered, looks like rooms at the Resort and Casino are not choice at this time.....   but tickets will be at the door.   I'll stay elsewhere in Ocean Shores and travel in....   but the good news is I'm planning on going and enjoying the beach and state parks nearby.  Not much of a casino kinda person either.....

I will say though if you have questions for any of the guests, I will be sure to get in to get some answered.   Hope to see a few old faces and some new ones.

If you post up questions in this thread to any of the speakers, I will see that I make all of the socials to get them asked!

Line-up includes:  Paulides, Noel, Meldrum, Barackman, Thom Powell, Olympic Project personnel (Randles/Ellis/Baker et al), M. Townsend (bones), Guy Edwards (hopsSquatch/BF Lunch Club) et al
