  1. My son, grandson & a friend were down at the river driving around, doing whatever they do in those "mud trucks", a couple of years ago, and they got stuck. There was no one else around & no cell phone service there. So they sat around awhile & waited, hoping somebody would come by, but it got dark, & nobody showed up. It was about a mile to the road, where the cell phone would work, & my son decided to walk out & call somebody. The others didn't want to go, so he set off by himself. He said he wasn't even out of sight of the truck before he heard footsteps just to his right. At first he thought it was his son messing with him, but then he realized that he couldn't have walked through the thick brush without getting tangled up. Then he thought it might be a cougar, but ruled that out because it was taking steps that matched his steps. Finally, it dawned on him what it was. He said it was a little creepy, but he just decided that it must be one of the friendly ones walking along with him to keep the cats & alligators off him. After he made his call, he sat there on the road waiting, & he said he could feel "somebody" out there until the truck picked him up. I asked him why he decided that it was a friendly one, & he said it was just better than being scared all the way to the road.

  2. No flailing on our part, my friend. Your word was filtered by the forum's automated language filter. If you'd have used the slang term for "raccoon," the result would have been the same. Unfortunately, the innocent use of some words gets filtered due to the not so innocent use of the same words.

  3. I remember reading your report. I truly don't know, best I can do is guess. I suspect many sightings are just as you suggest, distractions to keep your attention on one while the others make their exit. 1) I remember an incident Thom Powell relayed in "The Locals". 2) I would not be entirely surprised if that were the situation that lead to the Sierra Kills. I don't think (in other words, less than 50% probability) that it would have taken David. I don't think (again, in other words, I think less than 50% probability) that you were in significant danger. Because as big as it was, it would have done whatever it wanted. Since it didn't do anything but leave, it didn't want anything. I can't remember if you participated in the conversations about that sense of lethargy / calm / non-concern that comes over us sometimes when dealing with them or not. I've been through that several times. Twice I've rolled over turning my back on them and gone back to sleep. In the moment it seemed perfectly reasonable, it wasn't till mid morning the next day when I reflected back on the previous night that I realized how out of character that complacency was. That's spooky. But the point is, if they'd wanted me, those two nights they OWNED me. And nothing bad happened. I can't guarantee anything about next time but I feel more confident it'll also turn out ok than I did two "events" ago. MIB

  5. ^^^^^^ Absolutely, but not all tracks can be explained away with stompers and a pickup and a rope

  6. Just to make sure that I understand this, you are not going to bother trying to gather any physical evidence at all? Other than a corpse? So it's either anecdotal observations or a corpse from your group, nothing else? That seems like a strange approach. You do not think that DNA, properly gathered in a biological sample, could bring the necessary scientific attention to this topic? Why would a serious organization adopt your approach? It makes no sense.

  7. Surely you have taken a picture of an ape, only to have it not show the ape, whether you were too late, or the ape was hidden when the photo was snapped. I am interested to see how close you have come to getting a clear photo.

  8. I've met Bob, and he showed me the spot where the torn up tent incident occured. While I respect his efforts he may have misinterpreted what had occured there concerning the tent. While I think there may have been other wildlife involved "a snake" in the wrecked tent, he did relate one of his own personal encounters there at the same spot, and I've seen the area, and kinow of other encounters close by, so am open to what he can offer.

  9. Out of the box, and it should leave just enough DNA and bones to confirm species.
