  1. Well, I had a big ol' post written up, but it was somehow lost. So, I'll be more concise with this one. Bipto, I hate to see you leave, but I also hate to see you take pot shots at the BFF. Dude, we didn't make the claims that were made, you did. The members make the forum what it is, be it a sideshow, full of sound and fury, etc. Maybe that's about it because your claims are unsubstantiated. Do you honestly expect everyone to believe you based on your word alone? Surely you wouldn't do likewise of others claiming to see some of the things you've claimed. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. On the BFF we accept very little at face value. We may have a tendency to over-analyze claims and be more skeptical than some other forums dedicated to this topic, but we think that is preferable to the alternative. Don't blame the forum for your exit. You could present evidence to substantiate your claims at any time, as well as giving the skeptics something to chew on. I want to wish you luck with your endeavors, and I hope that you find the evidence to accompany your claims. Science demands solid evidence, so no amount of conjecture or storytelling will bring the creature to light. Whether it's here, on Facebook, or anywhere else, a tale with supporting evidence will hold up much better than a tale without.

  2. Statements like this are exactly why this field needs skepticism.

  3. The real shame is folks who don't ask questions when there are discrepencies in the information being claimed and who interpret others who do as trying to cause trouble. No one here has attempted to cause trouble as you say and if it is obvious they are then that's why there are mods. If you "gotta know" then you have to ask the hard questions. t.

  4. ^No offense but I think you're just in serious denial here. I wouldn't go that far. The results at least did come up with a very unconventional animal as a culprit for the Yeti, and people have described it as not looking like any conventional animal. Sykes is even planning an expedition to obtain a specimen. Just goes to show that there really are strange things out there, maybe not what people think but still. Maybe there's something similar running around here too? Could be an unconventional animal or maybe someone with hypertrichosis shying from society. Who knows? Could be a lot of things. Just because the dogma says it should be a certain thing doesn't mean it can't be something totally unexpected.

  5. In his defense, DWA may have lost his "compass," Bipto. If anyone was wrapped up in and enthralled with all things NAWAC, it was the report-reading self-proclaimed scientist.

  6. ... and that's fine, but you have to expect questions from both the proponent and the skeptical. That's what a forum is all about, really.

  7. Bipto could have put me and all other 'dissenters' lmao on ignore. He could have kept the information train running for those who buy into what he's claiming. But then even proponents began questioning his claims so he took his ball home altogether. I predict this will be the beginning of an exit strategy from area x by year's end. Unfortunate for those who follow his chronicles, but I think the 2ft oak tree will turn out to have been his own undoing.

  8. Interesting, about your GF's parents house. Yeah, that type of thing is what concerns a lot of people. And some BF hunter types are not very scrupulous and not very nice. I would be very concerned about someone digging around and getting info that they shouldn't have, and that would have appeared to have been "safe"... Seems to happen all the time. I've appreciated what you've been saying recently about not worrying about BF in the woods. I think your attitude is great. People, however, are much scarier to me than BF, so I have a lot of sympathy for anyone who doesn't want to share photos (which, of course, is their right). And there is nothing "life or death" about any of this. This is not about curing cancer, or curing anything -- except the fear-driven behaviors that keep us attacking each other for things like not sharing photos. That's what all this BF stuff is good for: illuminating those not very developed parts of ourselves that could use some developing.

  9. Folks, the simple matter is that Nawac will likely continue to encounter what most other witnesses and researchers report happening. Discussions about it get tiring when there is no evidence to go with it, and in the absence of proof, it all starts to smell bad and becomes pointless to continue. This is the cycle that so many encounter when trying to "educate" people on a forum. There are many that just won't be educated like that, some of which know better, and some just deliberate cynics.

  10. Man, I'm really disappointed to see Bipto go. But as evidenced by my own need to put people on Ignore, this place has become a sideshow of sorts. I can't blame him in the least, but I wish he could have just ignored the ones so obviously working to get a rise out of him and/or derail dialogue. Really and truly, a shame. Still, there are good people here exchanging good ideas and research and encounters. I look forward to the day we can all raise a glass to Bipto and say, "Job well done. Now let's get to cataloging this species and learning all we can to protect its habitat." I imagine then he will be back. And all the cockroaches will have fled with the lights of truth burning so brightly. Good luck, Bipto.

  11. Never saw the dogs again after that night, in which case the bigfoot did our neighborhood a service.

  12. Look at these skeptics on here, they are hilarious. 5 posts from Drew on this page alone, absolutely hilarious people. Beyond sad.

  13. Did you know that Matthew Johnson regularly goes to forest locations with his "helpless" family and friends to share sammies and convos with the forest folks? It sounds like he's gotten over his fears pretty well. I'm scratching my head over this desire for the death of an innocent animal in order that everyone may be afraid of the dangerous forest. I think Cotter said it well. Think it was the recent Friends or Foes thread that shows the consensus among many long-time researchers is that they're USUALLY afraid of us/not a threat. In fact, large groups of people pay good money to go play with them in the dark.
