If I had only one wish to be granted, it would only be that we could move past the firearm safety uber-analysis. If I had to predict one of the straws that broke the back of Bipto, this would top the list. They feel they are acting responsibly (and they are there, we aren't), they have permission from landowners, they are all adults, and they've repeatedly confirmed they are willing to face the music if the unlikely does occur. If they were deer hunters (and I know plenty who don't take the precautions they do) they'd probably be getting an NRA paid Attorney to get injunctive relief at this point. Enough with the gun safety "concerns."5 points

@ Inc, as far as what it has produced "it's called discussion" which is why I thought a forum like this exists. I do believe the people who frequent this forum come here to "discuss" what they've experienced. Ask questions, compare notes, what they've experienced, etc. Seriously, if any of us had hard core, set in stone evidence and the mystery was solved then we would be discussing what "is known as fact" until then this is all we have "discussion of what we have experienced" . Hypothetical as it all may be, it's still discussion.3 points

I believe there are at least 2 types like Nathan said earlier, big differences in body and facial features. I do not believe they are different species as a matter of fact I do not believe running the DNA is going to prove a new species. They will be either a subspecies of Homo sapien or a new Haplogroup. The researchers should demand the DNA to be fully tested and checked and not thrown out as "contaminated" as soon as human DNA starts showing up. They are closer to us than any other primate. The 3 toed tracks could be from a genetic mutation. It is found in humans and was not infrequent in the east in the past. The person does not have just 3 toes they have 5 toes but the skin grows together between the toes fusing them into what looks like one toe. It tended to effect the two toes in the middle of the foot and the two toes on the outer foot. This person going barefoot would leave a track that looks like they only have 3 toes.2 points

norseman & Wv Footer Chasing these creatures with dogs is a good idea ,but the dogs will not have a chance and will end up dead or be running back with tails tuck between their back legs. I have always had this idea that these creatures have always runned with coyotes or have used them as hunting partners or maybe even as pets. I know that this sounds strange but I am sure that there are otherswho can relate to to this. I have always taken my dogs with me and they always seem to be on that high alert and when these creatures are around my dogs seem to stay closer to me and not wonder. I also have a bond with my dogs and believe me if these creatures were to ever hurt my dogs. I would go after them with venges and they know this. I have no problem to ever kill one of these creatures if it ever come down to it. Even though I might have said some strange things about them and what I have expierance I have no problem of killing them. I have thought about it many times and have talked to certain people that I know about it during bow season. I understand what Bibto has gone through and some times there are things that are hard to explain. People some times want to much from what was observed. These creatures realy do not leave to much as evidence unless you are able to get a shot in with a rifle or a cross bow or a bow. Yes, a body is all that it will take to prove their existance and the problem with that is ? How human they look. The longer you take aim the more time you have to think about what you are about to do. I sure as heck do not want that guilt do be on my soul or heart. I would rather wonder the woods looking for a corpes to bring that back then to kill one. I just can not agree that these creatures are wood apes.2 points

gun safety should always be a concern....firearms handling 101 and basic knowledge among most credible outdoorsmen / hunters , or should be. fwiw, that " willing to face the music" stance might vary depending on which end of the weapon you're standing on.1 point

FWIW, I have observed several trees "break" for no apparent reason with the first (~1968) being a lateral limb (~18" diameter) on a large hackberry tree while we were at the swimmin' hole on Big Cypress creek in north Alabama. Loud creaking/cracking shortly followed by a snap and crash as it fell to the ground. No wind or rain, sunshine day. ~2 summers ago, while up on the Rogers county (Oklahoma) lease, we were riding in a Bad Boy (electric ATV) and observed a hickory tree swaying and shaking some 30 yards off the ATV trail. Thinking a bobcat (or something similar) had saw us and fled up it, we stopped to check it out. Nothing was it it and the swaying continued for a few more seconds before the tree snapped at ~10' from the base and crashed into an adjacent tree. Last August, one of the pecan trees out back basically did the same thing in that a large (~24" diameter) lateral limb (~10' up from the base) began to creak/crack before just snapping and taking out a section of fence as it hit the ground. The arborist that came out said it collapsed as a result of the overabundance of fruit on it (we had a very wet spring last year) coupled with the 2007 ice storm damage and subsequent drought (we're technically still in it) simply had culminated in a series of stressful events the tree could no longer tolerate. SE Oklahoma has been in the same drought over the past ~5 years as well.1 point

That is truly alarming. If their recreation was accurate, I would be very concerned for anyone in that area.1 point

There are posts in this thread of Bipto chastising people for not reading back in the thread, so I was disappointed when he decided to leave after admitting he didn't read the posts in question. I thought the tree break discussion was what should be expected when the claimant leaves for a week, it was repetitive, but polite for the most part. Mostly physics related banter, but certainly not what I would call antagonistic or belittling of any one.1 point

If Area "X" is indeed the Branson place (as listed on the official LeFlore county plat) then, it is 10 acres, period. The closest public land (Honobia Creek GMA) is ~1/2 to the south, after you cross 300 acres of (other) private land, to get there. The above reference link (video(s) from the presentation) is disturbing in that several of these people act like they're extremely frightened when noises/things are seen and begin to shoot first and ask questions later. The scary thing is none of the situations covered in them is anywhere close to a condition red, much less black. No bueno.1 point

Personally, I don't consider letting a pack of dogs loose on an animal as hunting. It is Barbaric, JMO. No, I am not anti-hunting, just believe in giving my quarry a sporting chance. But, that is a good question Norseman, how do you train dogs to hunt a Bigfoot. Meldrum tried baiting with ape pheromones, without any success. I don't see how you could train dogs to pick up a scent that can't be reproduced for training purposes. But, I say that even if a Pack of dogs did corner a Bigfoot, which is unlikely, they would be in serious trouble. A bigfoot, agitated now from the dogs, majorly pissed, would just break off a nice bat sized tree and begin the Home Run Derby. Dogs vs. Bigfoot, my money would be on the Bigfoot.1 point

I know you hunt the area all around Area X's vast 10 acres. Your perspective on that part of the world is appreciated! t.1 point

Why on earth would somebody weep? You think that sounds like a whoop? Wow.1 point

What if the wrong one gets bagged though? If we only talk about Type I and a Type III gets shot, that will cause some confusion. ;-)1 point
