  1. I want to share some good fortune. Maybe not all that relevant but things on this forum have been kinda slow lately. Last week (July 17, 0800 hours) my nephew and I were leaving Goat Lake headed down to Snograss Flats. Progress was very slow because I was cutting steps across the snowfields. We had a lot of rain and lightning the night before so things were just treacherous. We had a short segment of clear trail allowing us to get round a corner when I saw an adult wolverine running straight up the snowfield ahead of us. It ran with a characteristic lope and turned its head in our direction as it ran up the 60 degree slope from our lower right to our upper left. It had already seen us so I yelled to the nephew and he was able to get his binoculars up on it right away. My binocs and camera were stowed away for protection while I cut steps. The wolverine ran with a lope that made it seem almost happy. Despite running straight up the icy snowfield it kept turning its head watching us. Then it was joined by a second that had already been above and to our left but not at all noticeable. And then I lost sight of both. Total time of sighting was maybe 10 seconds. I have read there may be 300 wolverine in the lower 48 states. I contacted a wolverine study group and gave them the details. We really felt fortunate. We had good success the previous night counting mountain goat but it was seeing the wolverine that really made our day. Goat Lake July 17 Red circle is site of wolverine encounter Mountain goat inventory.

  2. I think bigfoot has built in protection within our own minds. Hear me out........Most people don't believe they even exist, so the witnesses don't get taken seriously even when there may be physical evidence. When there is evidence, it either tests out human or some other known animal and if they are human, they are protected already, ........if not through the law, then with secrecy or both. I don't believe they could exist today without recognition if the above wasn't the truth. Habitat? Well, who say's it's not protected and managed for a plethera of other reasons already? I'm not anit-proof, I just think it should be done in a non-destructive manner because I think they are closer to us than what most scientists would wish to debate over when it comes to classification and ultimately determining their rights as beings. persons and or a separate species.

  3. Nope, but I do go Grendel hunting, and get stung and bitten, and fall down and get bucked off..........and you make jokes about it. Eye witness testimony is weak in science............but not the law. People are convicted of crimes all the time based on eye witness testimony.

  4. ^^^^^ Absolutely, except for one crucial aspect. With no attempt to collect a body? They can remain "experts" forever, and write books and sell Bigfoot "expeditions"........... That may be fine for some or most, but I want the mystery to be solved.

  5. I just read through this thread again. A BF killed by a log truck is never going to be seen by anyone. Loggers in this area will privately tell you that if they see a BF and report it, they will be looking for a job and blackballed from the profession for the rest of their life. They will tell you that but not tell you what they have seen. Law enforcement is nearly as bad. Any accident involving BF, DNR or Fish and game will be called. Anything they get will just be taken away. Chances are a driver would not survive any more than a glancing blow on a BF. If they do, how many drivers are going to tell law enforcement they ran into a BF if it survives being hit and hobbles off? Not many unless they want to do a field sobriety test. I thought I saw a BF way up in a clear cut one time along a country road and stopped and climbed into the back of my pickup to get a better look. A deputy sheriff stopped behind me and asked what I was doing. I told him I thought I saw something moving up on the ridge and stopped to get a better look. He paused a couple of seconds and asked "An animal?" I paused a couple of seconds and responded that it must have been an animal. I think we were both on the same page but neither one wanted to say BF.
