Not Rogue, but from your post, I'm inclined to believe you've never ingested hallucinogens. Who's to say whether Native Americans considered their experiences after ingesting a hallucinogen real or subjectively imagined?
Personally, I've done so many times, and not merely in my misspent youth. It was rare that I wasn't able to discern fancy from reality, but there were a few times....enough to make me wonder, and become aware of the possibility of dimensions beyond this vale.
