  1. Or judgment based on knowledge you haven't gained yet? That lack can be addressed by spending more time in the field. It's faster to learn from people who know more but it is possible to do it yourself despite the "reinventing the wheel" component. MIB

  2. I have read in past BFF posts that some people who are hiking in the woods suddenly experience an anxiety/panic attack and run towards their vehicle or campsite or until they exit an area (or zone) deemed spooky or threatening. These zones have been called “death zones†in previous posts. These experiencers did not see a BF, but were speculating that it could have been because the hiking area was squatchy. I think even the original posters will agree that panic attacks in the woods (even squatchy woods) is not evidence of BF presence. The mystery of panic attacks in the woods is not new and has been written about before without any conclusion on its causation (whether psychological or attributed to environmental/external factors). An article that documented this mystery and used stories from Europe is titled the “The Landscapes of Panic†by Patrick Harpur (from 2001). See link below. https://www.scribd.com/doc/236245366/Landscape-of-Panic-FT141-Patrick-Harpur https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/mythfolk/conversations/topics/902 I find it interesting that some panic attacks in the woods appear suddenly with no obvious or seen external causation. I understand why some people want to attribute this panic and anxiety sensation to infra-sound from BF, but that is not the case in those European cases mentioned by Harpur where there has was never a claim of BF presence. The mystery of panic attacks in the woods is itself an interesting topic (without the need for BF presence). Has anybody done research on this area? How common is this phenomenon and what are the prevailing explanations for the panic? Are all panic attacks in the woods the same or are there many flavors? With regard to the relevance to BF research, we could ask those who claimed to have encountered a BF, how many had a panic attack and ran instead of just being frozen with fear or just reacted normally to an unknown encounter? How common is a panic attack with those who encounter a BF? Based on the cases that I have read, it appears to me that eyewitness experience fear, and the flight (not fight) reaction (especially with close encounters), but I would not call that panic. Panic defined as: a sudden overpowering fright; also: acute extreme anxiety. b : a sudden unreasoning terror often accompanied by mass flight).

  3. I think what MIB is saying is appropriate. Part of the reason any of us discusses anything here (or anywhere) is to sound out our own ideas, to see how other people react; to see if we can learn from other perspectives. And every perspective is valid, for the individual who holds that perspective. But the question for many of us is, how broadly does that perspective apply? We are trying to tease out the universal from the personal. It's fine to be afraid of things, if that's what you enjoy. Nobody would take that away from anybody. But it helps to be conscious of the choices we're making. It's a choice to be afraid, not a necessity. So, that's the piece of information that becomes more universal: that fear is a choice. Knowing that, being reminded of that, leaves us with more space to consider that we can choose some other feeling with respect to BF. Not to mention that the facts, the evidence -- the preponderance of it -- shows that most BF are not interested in killing people. Again, if most WERE, nobody here talking about their experiences would be able to speak. Or type. Or breathe. Thanks, MIB, Xion Comrade, and others for the reminder that we can choose fearlessness (another word for love) when we think about, talk about, and interact with BF.

  4. Sure, our Gov knows! So why should they even try to show proof of it's existence. There is no need for the public to know so why even say it does. If you believe that we live in a free society then why should anyone even express acknowledgment of their existence. It is no one's business what anyone knows and if that is how it should be kept then I am in agreement. The only time that they should be responsible is when these creatures are a danger to us as humans. I have no problem with this and as it stands it is none of our business ,if they do not wish to share. The more secrets that are kept from us is either for our own protection and or theirs. In which I believe that they do not need our protection, They have all what the need. They have do so for all these years and refuse to just stay from us. It is better to just leave things alone and never say on what one knows.

  5. You can find tonnes if you want to, or not as the case may be. It all depends on how you look and what you actually want to look for.

  6. Binary thinking is a mistake. The notion that they're all either gentle giants -or- murderous predators is overly simplistic. I see a quest for the emotional safety of absolutes in that dichotomy .. a natural response to fear,. Like a certain MIB whose friends trust their children with him precisely because he can be extremely dangerous if it is called for but would rather take a nap, I suspect the big guys all have the potential but few have the disposition. Don't put them in a position where they feel threatened and by far the most likely outcome is they'll leave without you ever knowing they were around. It seems a real human trait to get our panties in a wad over what COULD happen and forget to step back and look at the probability of that thing happening. One thing for certain, the true number of unsolved disappearances is much lower than the hand-wringers would have you believe. MIB

  7. You will have to define "life threatening" for me here because I have trouble with this term in this context. If I recall from podcasts and talking to him myself, Tim has said that these things have had more than ample opportunity to kill the crap out of him and those with him and haven't done it yet(obviously), and if you ask me there was zero opportunity for the bigfoot to sustain injury in the process more than likely. If I recall correctly he saw one on night vision taking a swipe at "Bear", which sounds menacing enough until you figure out that it could have hit him easily if it wanted to, If I remember right it was just a half butted swipe, more of a gesture telling them to bug off. You have to realize that they don't speak English, so the only way they can convey themselves is through gestures and the sort, problem is something as big and fierce as they are could just burp and melt most people's heart through their bowels.....Tbh I have only heard of people actually coming into physical contact with a bigfoot in anyway only a couple of times in the past 50-60 years, that out of about 10k stories I have been through, both related to me directly and indirectly. I suppose my experiences could have been "life threatening" if it tripped and fell on me (which seems to be how most people would have interpreted the encounter >.<), being as how it was about 4 feet from me, it had every opportunity to harass or kill me for two nights but never even touched me. The speed, strength, and just outright stupidly stealthyness of these things(I have experienced all 3 in a short and amazing time, and it made my jaw drop) makes me think it is pretty dang stupid to be afraid one is going to just kill you because if it is, you are toast and there is nothing you can do to stop it. I don't even think a good gun would even HELP if you were alone or just with another person. I remember Robert Morgan, a old time researcher of 50+years, talking about the only time he ever thought one was going to kill him. He and his group had managed to figure out where a family was bedding down in the PNW after a long time in the area and decided to go to the area to see if they could collect evidence. Once they got to a point where the nest apparently was (It was like a mountain of brush, I remember a guy who got the hell hounded out of him a few months ago from around Roanoke,VA who had a thread calling them 'trolls' talking about this sort of nest, funny thing is I believed the guy but everyone ran him off as fast as they could, that is the bigfoot community for you, mindless negativity) something big just jumped up a ways off and started booking it towards them with apparently near supernatural speed. If I recall it was a way off but closing maddeningly fast, they had some group members spotting for them in case something like this happened, and they were the ones who caught it first. Robert noted that the thing wasn't heading directly for them, but was deliberately headed for where their exit path was, they would be trapped between it and the brush but got the heck out of dodge! Robert seemed to think it was a big daddy and his babies were staying in that brush, it was a horrible ignorant idea. Besides doing disrespectful BS like what that group pulled in that situation, I would say a deadly bigfoot encounter just isn't going to be a issue for you out and about looking for them.
