  1. So, while we're momentarily slightly off topic, it just goes to show you how reports and first hand eye witness accounts may fundamentally be true, but also contain false or skewed data and information due to "the human factor". If I can find an example of some of the bird activity we've had that's not too long to post, I'll try and see if I can post it here. I don't know what the file size limit is, but I should have an example of the "bird sounds".

  2. Insects will change their behaviors more based on temps and barometric reason than others. We've had nights where recording was extemely difficult due to their (insects and crickets) overwhelming activity. Then we've had nights where they were active until the weather changed overnight. In either case, we've had nights with no observable BF activity, and nights with much activity with different insect noises. As for people reporting that the woods went silent during an encounter, it's a medically established phenomenon that sudden bursts of adrenaline in a person's system can dampen the auditory system, and can create brief periods confusion and disorientation. There's plenty out on the net that talks about and goes into details about this. As for drawing a conclusion that ... Once again, people offer 2 choices of "how something must be" trying to give and "either / or" option, but let's get realistic: there could be a dozen reasons why something is or isn't a certain way and we just don't know what they are. Offering 2 choices and saying it's gotta be one or the other is overly simplistic.

  3. If the rest of my time I have to spend in the woods in my life turns up zero evidence of Sasquatch, all I have proven is that I didn't find any evidence, and it doesn't have any relevancy whatsoever to address all the other evidence. You, and the friend you reference Crow, are falling into the trap of believing it would matter. You've got to fight your cussed self-centered humaness on this issue if you want to see daylight. What happens to me, or doesn't, is no rebuttal at all to the evidence provided by others. Moreover, the lack of experience by tons of other people is no more of an argument...the addition of millions of other non-experiences still add up to "zip" for telling us anything meaningful. If you want to combine experiences to create weight, do it with the witness reports. Then consider why adding up a bunch of non-encounters is more meaningful to you than even a handful of encounter experiences...and there are not just a handful, as you well know.

  4. I had about five face-to-palm moments reading the recent posts. Can anyone really, REALLY refute the observation that you are very ulikely to find proof of something (even something inert and stationary) if you aren't looking for it, AND you don't believe it even exists to begin with? I mean...what is there about this point-beyond-elementary that gets so much denial around here? And Crow, we are all likely to be dead before some kind of proof lands in our inboxes. To which I offer a great "So what?" Wish the world operated on my personal timetable too. Crap, oh well.

  5. Many bigfoot sightings/activity go unreported around here in Oregon. When I'm in my study area or a new area I will talk to the people I come across, most of the time. I've talked to hunters, fishermen, hikers, bikers, campers, loggers, watchmen, goldminers, forest workers, BLM, state forestry, F&W, farmers, the last house next to the forest, etc. I once spent a whole day riding back and forth in a log truck from the landing to the mill talking about bigfoot. I've spent several hours one night with a guy running his hounds after a 400lb **** talking about bigfoot. That was fun. I've talked to a guy that lived next to the gate before entering private timberland about bigfoot. At first he seemed very angry. But then I told him that I've had bigfoot sightings and other people I know have too. He was silent for awhile then started crying and shaking. He opened up to me and said that he had seen a bigfoot years ago. It scared him so bad that he kept it to himself. Then when he finally started to talk about it people/family laughed and called him a liar etc. So he bottled it up for years. His girlfriend came out and thanked me. She said he needed someone to talk about his sighting that would understand. So every night after work I would come over and listen to him. I've come across more people when I'm out and about that have had a bigfoot sighting/activity or know someone that has that go unreported than reported. But now since Finding Bigfoot every noise and turd is from a bigfoot.
