  1. I think this is being over thought really. I just think they are just a higher level of troll. More evolved than your garden variety internet troll, but a troll none the less.

  2. But perhaps the seeming conflict of population total numbers vs population density patterns observed in other top predators lay in interpretaion of what the data implies... it could serve as evidence that these beings are more sentient than those they are being grouped with in terms of predicted population density/distribution. Any creature will as a population with abundant resourses, and suitible habitat expand its numbers, presence and distribution endlessly(just look at us!) Especially so, should the species posess a knack for cognitive behavior....meaning...maybe those models that demand numbers too small at that level .of the food chain doesn't apply to the species in question...we ourselves transitioned from the standard population model found in "nature", perhaps they have as well

  3. We will always have to deal with both sides of the coin.

  4. I can't narrow it down to one but I would say that there are other forums and message boards that have some very believable posters. One I can't subscribe to because of their pro kill stance so I won't mention them but here on this forum, there are too many and would hate to forget someone. Bottom line, this is not a popularity contest which is a primary reason.

  5. Jiggy, I agree with your assessment! Airedale, the biggest problem is when your new to the forum your still trying to figure out what's what and who's who! But I am learning quickly.

  6. Crowlogic brings up good points, even though I don't agree with most of them. Opposing opinions and view points are what challenges us to think "outside of the box" and examine things from different angles. If we all agreed on everything, this would be a very boring forum. Some people have questioned Crow's motives for posting, even though he's not a believer. I would question the same people for even responding to Crow's post. If you don't value his opinions, just ignore him.

  7. Thanks for that clarification, JKH, and sorry I got that muddled up. Nightwalker, that's cool, that you're seeing so much 'sign'.... I really love the tree bends, too, and the little shock you feel when things are rearranged or missing altogether. I don't have any theories about the tree bends, but the water thing is a possibility, for sure. I think there's a thread going right now, in the General section, about stick formations and tree stuff. What I really wanted to say, though, is that I think you're pretty caught up with the state of the art about now.... You're the expert now, as much as anyone else, and we'll be learning from YOU, hearing about your adventures. Divergent, I can't answer your question directly, for several reasons, but I think I can address your larger question, if we back up a bit.... The hairy guys have been connecting to us for a long time, including during times when there wasn't much difference between the way they lived and the way we lived. First Nation peoples have been exchanging things (and food) with them for a long time, and it isn't always about providing stuff that the other one doesn't have. BF eat a lot of what we eat. Did you see the recent video the Browns made, about the people who helped heal a BF's broken leg, and got all kinds of game as a 'thank you' on a regular basis for quite a while afterward? The people who helped the BF could've caught their own turkeys and deer and whatever, which the BF clearly understood. But that wasn't the point of the gifts. The point was to communicate something -- and to me, it seems pretty clear it was gratitude the BF were expressing. So I'm just saying there's a shared consciousness, a shared awareness that food is a sign of friendship and connection. It doesn't matter whether the party getting the food really likes the food or not, or has ready or limited access to it. Not at first, anyway. As you get to know each other, you might get to understand better what an individual's tastes are, and then the gifts can become even more meaningful... But nobody will mind if you give them an apple they could pick themselves off a tree somewhere. Here, as in most places, it's truly the thought that counts.
