  1. While I understand why you feel that way, I hold out hope that the creature will indeed eventually be discovered. However, I doubt that grandiose claims by OS and those like him will facilitate that event. There are just too many reasonable sounding accounts out there from people with no reason to exaggerate. They have too much to lose, like their social standings, credibility, and employment. Actually, it's the claims made by those that embellish that make it difficult for people such as those to come forward. There's been a stigma placed on the phenomenon by those making outlandish claims as fact. Nobody wants to be associated with a topic that's ladened with such claims.

  2. With all due respect... you have absolutely no idea what will facilitate that event, and for those who have had or are honest with their (what you might call) UNreasonable accounts or embelishments know very well between themselves just how silly your aparent voice of reason is in this regard. As for your claims of nobodies and outlandishness I would caution you on your use of such absolutes as a walk towards the line of foolishness and your determining though your own limited experiece what deems a thing outlandish I find to be full of an equal dose of hubris.

  3. Yeah I imagine with all the folks who hold him (KB) is such high esteem might find it a hard pill if he started going all paranormal on the forum and God forbid share anything that could not be substantiated as hard evidence or border on something akin to Mike Paterson. As to the Dyers of the world they are simply mechanisms for use or tools if you will. If we have done nothing else perhaps we had some small part in showing what is facing folks who come forward sharing their experience that is beyond the realm of what is considered generally natural with relation to Sasquatch. Sadly I feel though that those who embrace some ideal of goodness is coming from the Sasquatch and that they are perhaps our teachers...well Im sorry I cant help with that and they will simply have to go through what it is they are going to go through. I pray for them For me the longer the amount of time that passes from my last encounter, several years ago, the less I really care to engage the topic...but I hang around with the belief we can help be an empathetic ear and offer perhaps some insight to the experiencer for those seeking answers. We may each have a different view on the reality, but we each know what we know and there is a value in that beyond any notoriety or the monetary. Anyone who is discouraged I would just say hang in there, all will be revealed soon enough

  4. Put up or get out... I've already offered to pay for Sesquac memberships BF didn't bring me chocolate on Valentine's Day, Time for us skeptics to step aside and let the Footies show us how it's done. Find a Bigfoot. One simple task.

  5. I sometimes wonder if it would do this thread and discussion any good to actually present the full collection of recordings made over the years and show interested parties where and how to identify and understand what is significant in them. I often feel it would either end in a battle of wits before the first point gets across, particularly when the assertion made up front is that you can't know anything without seeing the vocalist, or it would go over too many peoples heads, or they wouldn't read the reference material, or they wouldn't comprehend it.

  6. Maybe not for all folks Gum. It's certainly highlighted high levels of naivety on the part of some of those involved. Gullibility aren't treasured attributes around these parts. Threads like this can unfortunately define some members.

  7. Great report BC. Having a grouse fly up from your feet does get the heart pumping. I have never understood the need to do calls or wood knocks. To many people in my opinion, getting these crazy ideas from the TV shows. I can just see it a group over here banging trees and howling to a group over there doing the same. When I'm out there I love to listen to what the forest has to offer.

  8. I keep coming back to just the proven reality of how with enough adaptive pressure, and enough time, organisms do some amazing things. We also know not all genes react at the same rates. Some (like canine ones, for instance) are malleable to an extent we might not have imagined before we looked more closely. Whatever is possible within the physical limits of body morphology...and we are continually surprised by how those limits can be stretched...will occur if given an adaptive pressure to go there. We sometimes might lose sight of the fact that for another hominid species WE are probably that adaptive pressure. Like a lot of things H.Sapiens do too, we go all-in, even when we probably don't even know we are doing it, even as we also adapt in turn. Although I've never subscribed to the Human Puppet Master theory of BF origins, I have no problem imagining a much more indirect influence with nothing more than from the good old Darwinian pressures we bring from just being the murderous locust horde we are. Any life form with the sense to stay out of our way will have that tendency reinforced over the millennia. What better adaptive strategy for surviving along side of H. Sapiens is there than just, "Stay away from them at all costs?" When you can't kill, breed or starve a competitor out of the game (and they have to know this by now), you are left with only this. You can get very good at this, and the genes select to get better and better.

  9. I had the afternoon off, so I called up a newbie to our group, who I had met last week at the Finding Bigfoot townhall meeting when it was shooting here. I picked him up at his home in Agassiz, and we drove east for some distance to the location of a rock lobbing/sighting that was reported to Thomas Steenburg and Bigfoothunter very shortly after it happened, back on Sep. 18, 2008. The site is well off pavement, on a logging and powerline access road. The gist of the report was that a bear hunter was walking past a marshy area, on the road, when a noise from his left made him look that way, and he saw a football size boulder tumbling through the air towards him. As the rock splashed into the water and muck just yards in front of him, he caught a glimpse of a large dark shape fleeing through the heavy underbrush on the far side of the wet area, about 60 feet away. He was baffled by this behavior, and left the spot, back to his truck, drove to his nearby home, and after some online searching, contacted Bigfoothunter to report the encounter. I believe that is was the next day, or very shortly after, that BFH and Thomas accompanied the hunter back to the site to investigate. Thomas skirted the far side of the swamp, and found a series of large tracks in the softer ground near the water, becoming trampled grass and plants, as the trail reached firmer ground. He has photos of these, though I'm not sure if they're posted anywhere. He even waded through the fetid marsh muck, at least waist deep, in the area where the hunter said the rock landed, and found a few rocks, non of which the hunter felt were big enough to be the one he saw in the air. I related the above to Jim, the new guy, as we stood at the very spot, and he was enthralled. We took note of the huge amount of cat tails and skunk cabbage growing all over the marsh. I had parked the truck off the main road, as there were logging trucks active today, and we noted the spot I had parked was an old spur road that led into a 5 or 6 year old clearcut on the hillside above the marsh, so we hiked up there to get a good view over the terrain. After some time there, we turned to come back down, and spotted 3 blacktail deer feeding in a spur on the opposite side of the cut, 150 yards away. They had seen us, but seemed to feel we were far enough away to be safe, but as our path took us to within 60 yards, they became edgy , and moved into the sparse cover. Two of the three were bucks, with 3" of velvet covered antlers sprouting between their ears. Back at the truck, we had seen no further logging trucks coming down, so we proceeded up the road to the end of the active area, where we had a good view over the creek valley to the opposite slope, where there were a number of old , reforested cut blocks. We got out to scan the hillsides with our binocs, and heard a raven calling in the valley. Jim asked if we used calling as a ploy to get responses, and I answered in the negative, explaining that we had no idea what our calls might mean to any Sasquatch in earshot. I could see that he was disappointed, so I invited him to give it a try. He cupped his hands around his mouth, and let go with a very impressive whooping bellow! It echoed across the valley, and as the echo faded there was a very clear "WHOOP whoop whoop" from the far hillside. He repeated the call, and got the same response again. I then told him that he was now officially engaged to the barred owl that had answered his mating call. ;-) It was now getting to be time to head home, so we headed back down the mountain, and as we approached the marsh, I spotted a grouse at the edge of the road, stopped, and pointed it out to Jim. He spotted 3 chicks just in the grass ahead of the hen, so we watched as they crossed the road, one after the other, with mama doing a tail spread display to distract us from her babies. Once they had safely crossed, I eased the truck by slowly, as far to the opposite side from them as I could get, worried that the hen might spook and fly away, leaving the chicks vulnerable, but she held her ground as the tires passed within 3 feet of her. We drove back to the main road, with Jim telling me how pleased he was with his first "Squatchin" outing, and we went home to dinner. I was so into my role as "guide", that I neglected to take any pictures, so all you get is text on this one. I'll try to do better next time out.

  10. JDL - Sure, there are plenty of topics that get dismissed more easily. Pretty much anything featured at a Texas bigfoot conference. Lake monsters, lizardmen, dogmen, chupacabra, fairies (tooth or otherwise), elves, faking of the moon landing, etc. Do you believe in everything DWA does or in everything ever claimed in every thread here? Crow's topic stands on it's own without regard to one's personal sighting history - all the stories about sassy aren't true. It's not everywhere it's reported. It's not riding the caboose in overalls while smoking tobacco. There are many witnesses who were mistaken, lying, or hoaxed. You can be sure that there are members here who routinely lie and embellish their encounters. EVERY habituation scenario so far examined has been proven to be misrepresented. Pretending that there is hard evidence available for study is silly. The majority of lay researchers don't even try to collect evidence. They collect stories and draw sketches. The vast majority of scientists who have looked into the subject have come away unimpressed. Same for most in the media, print or otherwise.

  11. I say he is a bald face liar when he says he was questioned by private investigators. No bodies turning up or missing persons reported so therefore he has absolutely nothing to back up his claims. Therefore it seems obvious he tore the camp up himself then filmed it. He used the convienient "the feds threatened me" bs because he new the guillble of the BF world would then eat it up. I called him a hoaxer because he is. I have no problem labeling him. This ain't my first rodeo.

  12. The Bigfoot aren't the only ones saying, "Bless their little hearts." Many of the same folks that are buying this nonsense bought Dyer's claims, too.

  13. There is also the issue of jealousy........ Hoaxing does not make any sense when I can easily get my butt to the woods and have an encounter. It could be a photo, a sound, an interaction, etc. Too bad there are some that would rather sling mud than do some work.
