  1. Bigfoot on the Brain: The tendency to attribute to Bigfoot things that are, in fact, not at all attributable to Bigfoot or highly unlikely to be attributable to Bigfoot. BFOTB is a real syndrome for those of us who are open to the existence of this creature. I know BFOTB is a real syndrome 'cause I had it and still fight the tendency to this day. Rocks being thrown at my wilderness cabin turned out to be a squirrel dropping pine cones from a tree high above the rooftop. Bowling ball sized rocks being thrown at me, narrowly missing my boat, while night fishing on remote wilderness lakes turned out to be a territorial beaver. Blood curdling screams in the middle of the state forest late at night, well, who knows for sure, though probably produced by an animal very common to the area, most likely a bobcat. In each case, I was convinced these were full fledged BF encounters. However, upon further rational investigation found there was absolutely no cause for any sort of alarm. I simply was suffering from 'bigfoot on the brain', concocting a narrative that fit with similiar stories commonly found in today's BF media. BFOTB syndrome is not rational and causes us to reach conclusions about things which are attributed to BF circumstantially, with the dismissal of far more plausible explanations. Not sure the psychology underlying BFOTB syndrome, but fear it's very common in the BF community. I continually fight it myself. So, who else here believes in the thing called Bigfoot on the Brain? Are you aware of its effects on perceptions, your own included? Do you guard against it? MNSkeptic

  2. I don't have to have bigfoot on the brain to know it takes hands to do this. Wood knocks are heard and reported throughout bigfoot research and always will because they legitimately do occur and sometimes in conjunction with other sounds like foot steps and vocals. These things start to pile up when people actually go out there and put in the effort. The picture forms itself after a while. woodknock_0439hrs_3-13-10.mp3

  3. Post #303: http://monroetalks.com/forum/index.php?topic=27514.300 Here on the forum: http://bigfootforums.com/index.php/topic/49226-monroe-monster/ Gum presenting the picture in another thread: http://bigfootforums.com/index.php/topic/41129-tree-manipulation-wood-structures-what-is-the-evidence/?p=898859 Where I earned the undeserved appellation of "troll" by Gum: http://bigfootforums.com/index.php/topic/41129-tree-manipulation-wood-structures-what-is-the-evidence/?p=900285 I challenge any honest and objective person to read my above post and call it trolling, and I ask those same folks to read through Gumshoeye's claims while noting his reaction to honest criticsm and questioning. Frankly, I'm sick of being attacked here for asking legitimate, relevant questions about claims that contain logical inconsistencies. It is utter BS, and in classic form, notice that the detractors of honest questioning offer nothing in return but snarky, sniping comments that don't contribute anything to the debate. For the record, none of my posts in question here were intended to malign or annoy (although I admit that my bluntness can sometimes be taken that way, unintended as it may be), but were instead meant to elicit a clarifying response from a member who gave two discrepant accounts of how a claimed bigfoot photo was taken. To this day, Gumshoeye has refused to address the issue, and instead diverts attention from, or ignores the query, or simply attacks the questioner. So much for open dialogue, eh?

  4. Definition of BOTB - Someone with absolutely no connection or experience with the creature finding himself or herself unable to find something better to do in life than attempting to belittle and disparage those that have had real experience with the creature and have a desire to share and learn more about their encounter usually in the hope that it will benefit both other humans as well as the BF species. 5. Agreed Bobby. If someone actually sees one, that's a different thing. I do agree with the OP somewhat in that we can sometimes attribute to BF what shouldn't be, at least without corroboration. I still don't know if I can properly explain what I thought was throwing small rocks at me all those years ago. At the time, I attributed it to birds in the trees above me. It wasn't until years later I learned that there are a lot of BF reports of them doing the same. I don't, however, automatically jump to BF being the explanation, I still think it was birds, but who the heck knows.

  6. Chele calls it confirmation bias, I call it a lack of critical thinking in many cases. A certain TV personality hears a "kersplash" in the dark lake behind him, out of range of the IR and starlight scopes and thermal imagers, but it must be Bigfoot. Couldn't possibly be a large fish jumping (or hey, a beaver). BobbyO, I don't see any contradiction in the OP and your post. If you're inside a tent and something (that the person doesn't see) is hitting the outside of the tent, it could be rocks thrown by a Bigfoot or it could be large pine cones dropping from the overhanging tree. Concluding its Bigfoot w/o more is BOTB. What you're describing is much more detailed and you (or whoever saw the large hairy man) have more information to use when drawing your conclusions. It is still possible that some strange set of factors let to a miss-identification, but that doesn't rise to a case of being BOTB. I was walking home on the outskirts of our medium sized town one morning when about 1/4 mile away I saw a brown, incredibly tall bipedal creature walking toward me. How tall? A street sign, which I later measured as 6' tall at the bottom of the sign, was clearly visible under this thing's armpit. I stopped in my tracks, very confused ... it was broad daylight, way to close to town and this (now that I could see it better) two-tone brown bipedal creature was casually strolling along the street - it didn't make sense. As it walked closer, it shrank dramatically. Turns out that the guy who was also out walking was walking uphill and the street sign was another 50' behind him, and 20 feet lower than him when I first saw him. I originally fell prey to, but ultimately avoided, BOTB.

  7. The NAWAC has never received a dime from Wally - where in the world did you even get that? There isn't even a rumor of Wally being involved with us. If Wally had given us $250,000 - we'd already be done with the deed. But as it sits, we scrape by with member dues and an occasional donation of very little. The Falcon project never got any money hence why it folded. Where in the world did you get a figure of $400,000 for Meldrum? Wally gave equipment to the BFRO - the cash went solely to Matt Moneymaker (and there is no way to know that total, so don't even bother). I know Wally bought the film rights to the "Squeeky" film, funded Melba's failed work, and supported Matt Moneymaker and the Olympic Project. Adrian Erickson spent money on the Pancake video/property (again associated with Matt Moneymaker). There is very little "money" going to serious researchers and groups. Most, if not all, goes to very few individuals. To me, this thread is pointless. There is simply no way to know the who's and/or the amounts - it will all be unfounded rumors. If people want to list amounts and who the donator was and to whom it went, it needs to be properly cited to source.

  8. Actually the PGF is shown to be an unknown creature. We don't know if its BF or Sasquatch since we don't know what those things are. But- given the nature of things its a pretty good bet that all three are the same thing. At any rate, the PGF has been well analyzed and its apparent that no human could have made a flexible suit do what Patty does. The joints are simply not in the right places and this is easy to see once you get into it. But you have to cause your hand to move as they say in legal circles. If you make no action to at least debunk the film (disproving a theory being a very accepted form of science) then you really are not in a position to complain (although that never stopped anyone on the internet...). So, if you look into it, you should be happy as you say above. IOW I am saying that the PGF is showing you the bigfoot; you should be happy. If not, please please show your work about how the joints that Patty expresses really are identical to those of a human.

  9. I'm not so sure, I think rocks being thrown at a tent would be rocks being thrown at a tent and pine cones being dropped from a tree by squirrels would be pine cones being dropped from tree by squirrels personally. Looking at a big, large, hairy man like thing that is unlike anything you've ever see in your life in the natural world, in clear unobstructed daylight hours for the best part of a minute on the middle of the Florida Everglades, would be a big, large hairy man like thing that coincides with thousands of other big, large hairy man like things across the same continent. That's how I like to live my life anyway.

  10. I also anylized it, Gumshoe, & interpreted it as actually saying: BFOTB is a fake syndrome for those of us who may have accidentally been near a bigfoot and are too afraid to accept the reality of it. We are grasping at any and all other explanations because the mere thought is so horribly scary.

  12. in other words you accuse people of attacking other posters and when you are asked to back that claim up, you can'tAre you even aware of the level of personal attacks that M.k.Davis and his supporters did against John Green and a few others? If you are not then perhaps you need to research it to find out if the folks you are supporting are worthy of it You stated that they are good people, others pointed out reasons that make them believe otherwise You stated that people on this forum engage in the same behavior Myself and others disagree with you and stated as such, some by pointing out that the forum rules do not allow for it You made the accusations about members of this forum I may also point out that myself and others that are supporting John Green do so knowing full well that John is a believer and a pioneer researcher that deserves respect This may shock you As I stated before, I do not believe that sasquatch exist now or at any time in recorded history HOWEVER I have a tremendous amount of respect for the early researchers such as Green, Gimlin and others I have had the pleasure of meeting them and feel better for it. I may not agree with some of Bill Munns conclusions, but I do respect the work he does I don't respect the work of people that simply say this is what I know, believe me and it you question it you don't deserve to see the evidence I can understand how someone could look at the same evidence that I have and come to the conclusion that sasquatch exist, it is all based on how you weigh the evidence What I don't understand is why the same cannot be said for many of the believers

  13. There is a certain climate and tone that has been set by you and other dissuaders like you that will keep folks from post anything of significance here. I am not alone in thinking this arena has gone a really sad direction. I guess your mission is accomplished - out.

  14. I've been checking into picking up a thermal device for some time now. Flir for years owned the market, but with the introduction of the "The Seek" - Thermal Camera, I knew that we may soon be exposed to a whole new line of ThermalCams at a price-point that wouldn't require an arm and a leg as a deposit. Problem I have is that it's just another BlobSquatch when it comes to anything at a distance. Then I saw this comparison of the The Seek-Thermal vs the Therm-App cameras ( Long Distance Comparative here ) & ( another closer distance comparative here ). Difference in price is The Seek around $300.oo, the therm-App cameras around $1000.oo. Seek thermal website Therm-App website Between the two i like the resolution and focus better on "the Therm-App" and it has a more secure attachment to your handheld device than "the Seek Thermal"
