  1. I saw three in one evening during my Class A. There was a game cam set off that could not have been one of those three, so at least four probably present. Noises heard coming from another area could have made five in one night-time encounter. I saw the green eyeshine(glow) of three on another occasion Class B, definite green coming from heads on shoulders.

  2. Went to see the Rayster at the VA hospital today. He sends his finest regards to all his friends and associates in the Bigfoot community. He also said to post that he is not long for this Earth, but for you to know he has had a fruitful life. Always positive, he laughed, chuckled, or smiled as we talked about the BIgfootin' life. He said to say a prayer for him, that he probably needs it. At this time, I think it is best to remember the Western Bigfoot Society, The Track Record, the symposiums and camps Ray sponsored. Maybe someone has favorite photos of Ray to post? I took some time to plainly explain to him that he has left a great legacy in the Bigfoot community. This seemed to relax him. It is very difficult for him to take telephone calls, so please don't call. I am, Joe Beelart, West Linn, Oregon

  3. I'm sure it brightened Ray's day to see and spend time with you today and to know that he was such an influential force in your life, Cliff. My thoughts and prayers go out to Ray and his family.

  4. I was in the woods when I received a text telling me about Ray's hospitalization several days ago. I returned home last night, and today was the first opportunity I had to visit Ray. I just walked in the door from doing so. Ray is in good spirits, and for a dying man, he looks great. He is ready for the impending transition. We spent our hour and a half together talking about bigfoot, astronomy, interesting people, his rich and unique life, and other stuff. He told me about his books, some of which have yet to be published. He shared insights and stories. It was great. Back in 1997, I was road tripping with my soon-to-be (and now ex-) wife. I subscribed to the WBS newsletter, the Track Record, at the time, so I took a chance and called Ray Crowe when we were in Portland, OR. I was hoping to see the bookstore and some of his sasquatch artifacts kept in his bookstore's basement where the WBS met every month. Ray told me on the phone that all that stuff was over at Larry Lund's home because of a flood or something or other in the bookstore. Ray gave me Larry's number, which I called, and my ex and I spent four or five hours with Larry that night. The evening blew my mind. The thought that there were actually people into this stuff I guess hadn't really occurred to me at that point. I credit (or perhaps "blame" would be a better word) that night with accelerating me to wherever I find myself today. It started with that phone call. It started with Ray. Today, I thanked Ray for this. I'd be lying if I said I did this with dry eyes. I feel like we in the PNW all owe Ray a lot. He started the monthly meetings here in Portland, of which echoes can now be seen in HopsSquatch. He carried on the tradition of newsletters pioneered by the Bay Area Group and the Bigfoot Co-op (am I showing my age now?). He suggested to us that we always wear our "skepticals" while reading his newsletter, as it was raw data, no filters added, which is good advice for all bigfooters. He's not dead yet, but he is on his way to check out. He is/was not only a catalyst for my life path, I am happy to call him a friend. Think positive thoughts for friend of the 'squatch, Ray Crowe.

  5. That's just not true. Eureka has been making tents since 1895 and introduced the Timberline series in the 1970s. REI and Sierra Designs had their version of nylon/polyester tents back then too. Gerry Cunningham is known as the father of lightweight camping and was making one-man backpacking tents in the 1960s. Others include Alpine Designs, Holubar, Mountain Adventure, and many more.

  6. I have spent a lot of time in tents too, and almost always under the canopy of trees, and completely disagree with this.

  7. Over my scientific lifetime, human and prehuman origins have been pushed further and further back. Not much I was taught in college is even valid any more. Nothing in human history would really surprise me because of fragmented, and huge gaps in the fossil record, and the fact that most of what we know about human history is constantly found to be wrong. Beyond that the Sumerian culture was supposed to be the dawn of civilization and before that mankind was groups of wandering hunter gatherers. Fast forward to now, and we know that complex civilizations predate the Sumarian's by thousands of years. Gobekli Tepe, a complex megalithic site in Turkey, may date back to as much as 14,000 years ago. Those structures of massive monoliths adorned with modern looking sculptures were hardly thrown up by hunter gatherers. Either known human history is wrong, or we have been sharing the planet with alien intelligences. I have to think that we are pretty much clueless about human origins and even more clueless about the history of other primates on this planet.

  8. If Bigfoot is alive and lacking classification, the focus should not be on fossil digs in Africa. the Focus should be on collecting a specimen from anyone of the 48 States, 7 Provinces and Northern Mexico, in locations accessible to any person with a pick up truck or a jeep. This is all just window dressing to the fact that a Live large mammal, is far easier to classify and obtain a type specimen for, than a new Genus of human, from southern Africa.

  10. You may be "wondering" Hiflier, but you certainly are not wandering. This is what turned the dogs loose on Dr. K: Presidential Memorandum on Scientific Integrity (March 9, 2009). Notice the "issue" date? The memo puts EVERYONE involved in scientific research in this country under the thumb of government. The government has tried to cover up the existence of the feral primates in this country for hundred of years, Now they have a tool to effectively shut down any scientific research involving the creatures. Any laboratory, person, university, contractors, subcontractors or vendor to any entity that accepts a penny in government funds or grants can, by one phone call, be "urged" to review and make public their opinions about "perceived errors" in the written reports of other scientific. You can bet that if the other DNA experts working on BF samples are from this country; their work will catch hell from the "thumb controlled" scientists. (I suspect that the good Dr. S from the UK may have been convinced in Ashland that a DNA sample from an unclassified primate that was native to this country should not be made the subject of a scientific report.) There are other things going on that may force the governments hands on the BF cover-up. Involved agencies have been making preparations for the disclosure for many years. When push comes to shove, and it serves the interest of those in control, they may drop the other shoe. (Before any of the elite nay-saying skeptics kick off their agenda about this post, I suggest they read that Memo, and the resulting procedures, polices and protocol that every department of government (and private or public entities covered by the memo) was required to devise and implement. It may take a few days.)

  11. Hello Bodhi, I do sometimes find myself wondering if character assassination is a good method for refuting DNA testing. For some maybe it is. It can be very effective, especially when there's a claim that an independent lab supports the results of 12 other labs. Character assassination, yessireebob, that's the way of science.
