  1. I am no lumberjack, but I've cut and moved timber regularly since about 1972. I once was the trail maintainer for a section of the Appalachian Trail, which required regular chainsaw work to remove blow downs and I've seen what the random chaos of a wind or ice storm does to trees and what forces are required to clear them away. I use wood as the primary heat for my home, and process it myself from stump to firebox, requiring me to cut, lift and move lots and lots of wood in a typical year. That said... Many of the tree assemblages I've seen on this page, other pages and in person lead me to conclude they were done either using equipment (either a grip-hoist, come-along, block/tackle or wheeled/track vehicles with hydraulic assist) or....what, exactly? They defy glib answers and that is what fascinates me about them.

  2. I still doubt Ketchum was able to get a clear sequence in the region of the Genome you were after. She might have some sequence data from the X chromosome in some of the samples which might be relevant. She was trying to target ancestry information in the samples from the amelogenin locus containing X and Y chromosomes.

  3. How much do you think those timbers weigh? Ordinarily I would agree that this type of structure is the result of bored teens. Not sure if 2-3 kids could actually place the logs in this manner without any tools other than perhaps a rope.

  4. No, YOU have missed the point. You're also getting things all messed up. Sykes was the one with 100% hair samples. Ketchum had a variety of sources: hair, blood, saliva, a fingernail. Apple. Bagel. Drain pipe / downspout. Is any of this ringing any bells yet? She also did not say it was human. Do you know enough science to know the difference between human and human hybrid? Ketchum said human hybrid, a cross between human and a different unknown ancestor. Ring any bells yet? I really think before you continue spewing more misinformation, you should take the time to go back and re-read the Ketchum threads and just about everything else here on BFF of the same time period because just as today, conversations drifted and went off-topic. Some of that info wasn't relevant to the topic it was posted on but it was very relevant to Ketchum's work. MIB

  5. Me and my buddies would yes. We played with making snares and structures and run off to the next thing. Sometimes half completed. Im not saying kids are responsible for yours. But its not outside the realm of possibility I believe. 3-4 10 year old boys can accomplish quite abit! At least we could
