The Cherokees took the state of Georgia to SCOTUS over such behavior and the ruling went in their favor. That's when the POTUS (Jackson) told SCOTUS to get their own army and enforce their own ruling. He did enforce the Indian Removal Act. What's especially ironic is the Cherokees & Yuchi's saved his arse during the Battle of Horseshoe Bend (against the Creeks) and then he double dealt them, after the fact. Many NA's won't carry $20 bills because of that SOB: You need to come to Oklahoma and see what's happening. As Tribal Sovereignty continues to be expanded via federal action, the shoe is slowly and surely headed to the other foot.
