  1. I admit I was in diapers when that article was written, so perhaps the magazine's reputation was better back then... I liked this part: I am indebted to Sgt. Jack Robertson of The Dalles Sheriff’s department for a bit of woodsy Omah lore. “If you should be out in the woods without a weapon,” he said, “and you see Bigfoot, just throw some crap in his face and he’ll run away. They hate that.” “What am I going to do if there isn’t any crap around?” “Listen,” Robertson said, “if you’re out in the woods alone and you see him, there’ll be plenty of crap around.”

  2. The difference has to do with film processing and the timeline involved.

  3. For sure it would not work with me. Meldrum knows me. And his college likely has enough security cameras that they could ID your face and your car if he does not. I think they have digitized passport photos and can match photographs of people to anyone that holds a passport. Might be better to find where he lives and knock on the door in the night and leave. Another tack would be to claim you found the body. That might cost you a gun you would have to get rid of because they would check what you have. I was at the first BF conference that Smedja attended after his supposed shooting. I think he thought he would be some sort of hero but most treated him like scum or a hoaxer. I think there are plenty around who would treat any BF killer the same way. Past instances where someone claimed to have a body usually did not get enough interest to have anyone like Meldrum come and look. All to date have turned out to be hoaxes.

  4. The article mistakenly claims that the Patterson Gimlin film was filmed during "the early afternoon hours" of October 7, 1967. I would be curious to know where that "alternative date" came from.

  5. Here is an excellent video (two parts) of how to rig a quick shelter in frigid weather that can save your life. It is from Dave Canterbury of Dual Survival. It involves a 2 mil painters plastic and a space blanket. Very little cost and next to no weight to carry with you in the backcountry. A fringe benefit is that fire will help keep some predators away and keep you occupied so your mind (and imagination) doesn't run wild.

  6. I think that is going too far. Having a known hoaxer, as Marx is reputed to be, involved or even nearby should rightly raise red flags, but that's all they are, red flags, NOT proof of hoaxing any more than lack of such an individual in the area is proof of authenticity. A person doing honest and competent science investigating a report is going to be exactly as thorough without a "Marx in the woodpile" as they are with one present because to do any less is not doing their due diligence. If you consider his presence an indicator of "loud and clear" hoaxing, you're letting your emotions interfere ... not an indicator of doing good science. My opinion only of course. I don't know what to think of the Bossburg tracks. I can't prove them authentic or hoax. The best data I have is interpretation, not raw info, presented by people who have already taken one side or the other of this issue. I can look at photos but they're not that great. I can't go back in time, see for myself, examine for the things that might have been missed, examine to address questions raised later. Best I can do for now is stack them in a very large "hmmmm" box. Costs me nothing, gains me nothing. MIB

  7. California has some new ammo laws that I don't understand, never mind gun laws. I don't think my Sig p226 is cali legal. Plus I don't think I can bring a handgun into that s___hole anyway. How can anyone want to live there?? The liberals have destroyed the state beyond repare.
