  1. So far as consistency, I come at this from a biology background. I would look for averages, standard deviations, and large enough sample size for the data to be repeatable. If the data is too divergent, I expect it comes from cries for attention, not actual observation. If it is too consistent, I suspect organized hoax. For me, the bigfoot data .. height, hair color distribution, track distribution, etc .. all point to a biological species, not hoax of either sort. Especially given the prolonged timeline. There are consistencies in behavior as well though those are harder to quantify. I really don't know why more biologists are not seeing this consistency and getting curious enough to take a second look. MIB

  2. I am spring-boarding off another thread, prompted by an observation by OkieFoot (below): This was always the point made by a previous member, DWA, albeit in a somewhat off-putting fashion. I find it compelling, but I think what we need to ask are the following questions: 1 - Is there a real consistency in the evidence? 2 - What counts as consistency/inconsistency? 3 - How can we measure it (e.g., degree of consistency, percentage of sightings that are consistent) 4 - What mechanisms could account for this apparent consistency (e.g., organized society of hoaxers, hoaxers with access to the internet, shared delusion, ...., a real species, anything else.) 5 - Can we use the data base to help us identify and quantify consistency? I would be interested in seeing thoughtful responses to these questions. Undoubtedly there are other questions that I have not thought of.

  4. Just because Alaska has been warming doesn't mean it's global, it also doesn't mean it's because of CO2, it also doesn't mean that it has been man who "done it", it also doesn't mean that it won't reverse itself at any time, and it certainly doesn't mean that a tax scheme will fix anything. It also doesn't mean that long suffering Alaskans don't absolutely love warming climate, despite what the leftist media tells you. However, it has been my observation that as the jet stream shifts (just like the magnetic pole), and as the Pacific Decadel Oscillation swings, our climate in Alaska is directly affected. Now, show me why the PDO swings, and why the magnetic pole decided to start running southeast at an accellerated speed, and I'll pay attention (but not taxes).

  5. ^^ I thought the most interesting detail in the link was the son's observation of the creature "lifting up it's feet more than people do." That's the same thing we see in the PGF and also in the Stacy Brown thermal footage.

  6. http://mountainlion.org/faqfrequentlyaskedquestions.asp Many people have heard the term "black panther," but these are actually melanistic jaguars or leopards: a genetic trait that makes an individual cat's fur appear much darker than the usual coloration. To date there has never been a confirmed case of a melanistic (black) mountain lion. If you seen a black mountain lion it may be one of the most rare animals in North America.

  7. I saw a beautiful black mountain lion (cougar) in W. Oregon about 12 years ago. I was pretty close and have no doubt at all about what I saw. 17x7

  8. This isn't necessarily the best footprint but it's one that intrigues me because of three things shown in the track, plus a fourth interesting item shown in the picture. I've posted it before with a few more arrows, probably over a year or two ago; I think it's one of the BCM tracks that BH had posted on here in the past. 1. The yellow arrow and the blue line above the yellow arrow point to where the mid portion of the foot appears to slope very slightly downward, which makes the mid portion a little bit deeper than the rear portion. You can see this the picture. 2. You can see how the toes dug into the soil. It's the deepest portion of the track. 3. Right behind the toes, the dirt has been pushed up. I don't remember the length of the track. To me, the track had to have been made by a flexible foot. Now, as far as the track being made by a human foot; this is where the 4th item comes in. The white arrows point to a human boot print only about a foot away that barely made an impression, while the track above the tape measure dug much deeper into the soil. The only thing about the human boot print that made an impression was the tread of the boot sole. The impression is flat. I'm not sure if that is a bootprint at the bottom right corner.

  12. Apparently these cases go back 100 years or so. Because quite a few bodies have been identified, their causes of death have also been identified, and they're not the same. They're all "decomposed off", not cut, and apparently the shoes protect the feet so they decompose more slowly and stay in the shoe thus separating from the rest of the body. So ... sounds dark and mysterious but instead it's just sorta gross. I won't be picking up any shoes out of the ocean any time soon. MIB

  14. If the above post isn't as far from a thread topic it can get I don't know what is. Can we PLEASE stay with the subject? Take the non-existence debate elsewhere and stop disrupting and diverting the initial topic. I really get tired of constantly saying this but recently this methodology has been infecting too many threads. This is a Bigfoot discussion Forum so kindly allow it to BE one. There's no excuse for this sort of behavior. Please, dmaker and the rest of you, STOP disrupting dialogue every chance you get.

  15. I honestly do not understand why someone who hates Bigfoot reports would hang out on a Bigfoot website that features a frickin SSR!!?? I’m not trying to be mean here or pick on skeptics. I like Dmaker as a person! I also find many many Bigfoot reports to be quite frankly out there...... But the logic escapes me as to Dmaker’s incredulousness over why Bigfooters on a Bigfoot forum pour over reports? Explain that one.

  16. Agreed. When will MM figure out that the show isn't about bigfoot, but instead is a reality show about the people who look for bigfoot?

  17. Good points WSA but the internet also gives us accesses to things and people. And it can get a lot of minds working on a problem very quickly. The internet facilitates individuals' forming of a consensus and coordination a plan for action. There are groups all over the web doing such things. But not here even though there is potential for earth-shaking developments to occur. Remember that "random person"? It doesn't have to be that way anymore. What would it take (using what we already have and know) to get a movement aimed at getting an official answer to Sasquatch existence to go viral??

  18. You forget that they dodged out of public much like the Michigan Project when the heat got turned up and things didn't turn the way they would have preferred or *holes invaded their planning and staging areas or spilled internal strategy. It is that kind of cooperation that sinks many of these project ships. What choice do they have but go incommunicado?
