  1. Catmandoo....for the record, the above quote in your post above was not made by me. It was made by HikingCoyote and I quoted him in my post. I'm not quite sure why there is an issue of firearm vs bear spray. Why wouldn't someone carry both? Each has it's merits.

  2. C'mon up to Alaska, Pilgrim. The bears are hungry, and they love your spray on seasoning.

  3. Something just hit me like a brick. Lets say that BF is a humanoid species but not human. We wring our hands wondering why the government would cover up its existence. Our laws may not apply to BF. It is not an animal that can be managed by law and not human, governable by laws meant for humans. . Should it have been in NA before we were, that complicates things even more. Perhaps the whole habitat, legal standing issue, is so complicated likely to go against us in court, the government has decided to ignore it as long as it can. If it ends up on court, humans may loose cases to the extent that we could loose access to huge portions of the country, especially if they are forested. Like tribal lands BF could establish BF law in lands that it claims. If you think about the consequences it is really complicated.

  4. You have a good point. Prior to the last two decades there was a lot of logging in National Forests. Now it is a fraction of that. I think logging is perhaps the most disruptive thing we do to BF habitat. If could be that the tree huggers are inadvertently improving habitat for BF. Certainly deer and elk populations are a factor. If bear numbers are increasing it is a good indicator than another omnivore might be benefiting also. Wolf increases may be a problem factor for that. Deer populations plummet when wolves increase.

  5. If there is a conspiracy that involves the government high moral ground means nothing. The government will investigate the individuals involved, find wrong doing or manufacture it, then start shutting things down under threat of prison time. All one has to do is look at the history of the discoverers of the T Rex Sue to understand how the government works. There is a movie available about the Sue discovery that everyone in BF research should watch. . One Sue discoverer, took the moral high ground, did not plea out, and ended up serving two years in a federal prison. Meldrum has a bunch of kids and would think about them before taking the high ground and doing jail time. Any discovery can be squelched if the government is involved in coverup. The finders and the testing labs can be put under pressure to keep a lid on it. BF DNA will be found to be bear.

  6. Sorta' like sasquatches. Yeah, you may not be able to find them, but that certainly doesn't mean they aren't there. Ed Wiseman found that out the hard way. Had to stab the one that attacked him to death with an arrow in southern Colorado.

  8. If you have a real body and your goal is public acceptance and whatever else comes with (which I do not), I would not rely on Dr. Meldrum or any current BF expert. Nothing personal, but I am more of a control freak and just don't trust the current BF establishment. I think your best choice is to book an interview with GMA or something similar for the reveal. You will need to make a very public, big splash before the authorities can react and get way ahead of the bad PR that is sure to follow. Make sure Drudge has deatiled pics to be released during the GMA interview, Your second is the most important and would need to be thought out way in advance. I would have an Asian lab do a DNA sequence, blood analysis, and other medical tests in advance and release them after the GMA interview in a drip drip like fashion over the next few weeks. I would also have a good, private lawyer retain the data outside the US. As a courtesy I would send detailed foot pics and measurements to Meldrum as part of Phase 2. And then I would go in to hiding for a year or two. I would also make sure my taxes were paid and bullet proof.

  9. Anyone going? Does anyone know how to get in touch with Keith Bearden? He's a hoot. Maybe he still checks in here or at least receives notification of a message received? Easier than social media to communicate. Please PM me if you know. Edit: found him on here. Thanks.

  10. Twenty six people killed by bears since 2010 in North America. Nine by black bears, fifteen by brown bears, and two by polar bears. Seven of the 26 (27%) were in Alaska, which has fewer residents than Denver, CO. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fatal_bear_attacks_in_North_America https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/the-truth-about-bear-spray-vs-bullets/

  11. This sign is currently posted 600 yards from my back door. Folks are still a bit cautious after two people were killed by black bears in separate incidents two years ago. And that doesn't count the ones killed by grizzlies.

  12. Thats what they tell you so that the bear is never harmed in the encounter. I don’t know about you? But the mountains are a windy place. Hard cast bullets do not care about wind. Again? What if the bear spray fails? What’s yer next step in defense? Ultimately it could be you or the bear. It don’t make any difference to me whether or not the Bears eyes are burning while he is eating me feet first. And just like Black Bears? Not all Grizzly Bears run away. You have been lucky. And good for you. There have been cases in which the bear knew full well it was stalking a human and killed and ate them. I too have been lucky with Grizzly Bear encounters, as well as Black Bears. Even hunting them. With that said I do not step foot in my woods or even go out on my ranch without packing a gun. This bear is basically in my yard and didn’t give a hoot about me yelling at him.

  13. From what Dr. Meldrum has shared about himself, his scientific balance with his religious beliefs, my speculation is he has too much moral high ground to be swayed by a conspiracy. He has taken so much flak from so many angles over the years, he has nerves of steel to even stay in the career niche he is in. I further speculate that he has more than a scientific interest in the BF phenomena. Guessing there is some Mormon historical/archaeological/anthropological reasoning in the mix that he keeps on the shelf to be pulled out "if/when."

  14. Happy Monday....blah, blah. Had some great hikes this weekend, been having lots of rain, VERY usual for June in Texas, but loving the cooler temps, running creeks, and the prints being left behind. First is a nice print with some toe definition. The others are interesting in that they are underwater.......I was hiking one of the bigger creeks, and to the left of the waterfall shown, there is a small pool where these Sardine sized fish (3-4 inches) were collecting, maybe to get up the falls? Anyway, at least 2 different sizes of prints, Daddy & Junior which I find all the time....tracks were everywhere, and in a random pattern that would lead me to believe they were after the fish, no sign of dead fish or parts thereof anywhere on the shoreline or surrounding area, very cool thing to run across!

  15. I’m in the camp that believes they’re able to project the light from the inside of their eyes. How this is done- I have now eyedea, but I’ve just read, seen, and heard soo many reports where this is what the witness saw. These post also make me thinks it might be a good idea to start putting cameras on as many of these power line clearings as we can (if it’s not already being done), and this theory has some truth to it.. Who knows- we may end up getting the next best PGF of our generation doing something like this... Cheers!

  16. Want to mention some facts about BF's movements as they relate to the South/Southeastern states. Typically, when it's normal weather, they will leave their bedding area about an hour before dark, and move as slow as molasses, stopping dead still every few yards looking forward and listening. Numerous witnesses have watched them from elevated hunting stands and say that they remain so motionless in open woods with some under story brush and small trees that they just seem to disappear from view. I personally believe they depend as much on their ears as they do on their eyes for detecting movement of people or other animals. When it gets dark or very close to it, and they intend to join others to hunt, they will start, or respond to the "gathering calls" of others of their kind. Basically clock time to them is immaterial, its the time darkness falls which determines their movements in the evening. Their movements during the day time hours - and days of the week - may be related to one or many other factors they have no control over. One of the most common conditions that causes them to move more frequently during the day is the very hot summers and drought years that have plagued the South/ Southeast many times in recent years. It is a dead certainty that during such periods the individuals and family groups establish bedding areas within just a few minutes walking distance of fresh water, when possible, a cold water spring will be their first choice. Many times the animals have had to move as individuals and family groups because of the commencement of the clear cutting or controlled burns of large tracts of land on private lands or in the National Forests. (Timber companies actually own the land and harvest the timber off of huge tracts inside National Forests.) Such work typically is done Monday through Friday, and Bigfoot families will not remain in those areas, although individuals (most likely males) may slip in to watch the action from cover and from a distance. For some reason, they are known to be interested and curious about the work of humans; from their construction of homes in remote areas, cutting and moving timber, or watching people on tractors making food plots for deer and turkey. A friend of mine called me by cell phone one day about three years ago to tell me that he was using a tractor, disk and seed spreader along a river in central AR. He said he was being watched from one part of an adjoining pine thicket by a female Bigfoot "with the prettiest red, shiny hair I've ever seen!" He said the animal would partially hide each time he turned the tractor in her direction, so he pulled his cap down low and slightly bowed his head so he could hide his eyes a little and watched her until he finished the small food plot. He has seen more Bigfoot than I, and spent WAY more time than I in those river bottoms.
