  1. I like coming here because I knew zip about Sasquatch back in 2012 when I had my first experience. I know a bit more now, but some of you are very knowledgeable and interesting folks! There's not enough mentors willing to share their knowledge; there's very few folks you can call up and ask for advice. I appreciate those here who have done so, or provided encouragement!

  2. Oh, you must have misunderstood me! I would definitely consume what I could from this forum and the general public through even the mass media. In fact, I do that now. As I've pointed out, this forum in its premium offerings boasts the SSR, a queryable database linked to Google Earth, which I consider the best sasquatch database now available, even though the one critical aspect it lacks is fresh, real time reports which BFRO and some regional sasquatch organizations can get. What I would NOT do is write articles for that fishing magazine outlining the fish caught and seen, bait used, seasonal catch rate, water levels, etc. I might consider sharing some of that information with others who might be able to give me good tips, info, etc in return, but not the general public. The risk is just too great. I am confident that people who were open about their activities here and publicly through the mass media and who were severely burned have continued their activities under a cloak of near anonymity. I am extremely interested in finding information about a few of these people. My bet is that they may achieve pay dirt soon, if they haven't already, and we may not know of it for years.

  3. Does a professional fishermen disdain the opportunity to read a fishing magazine marketed to the general public? Or is he "above" such media? After all, he's a professional.. I get the sense from some of you that a "researcher" wouldn't find any utility from reading a lowly forum that welcomes the public. Methinks you're selling the BFF short with such an attitude.

  4. In the spirit of the season, what are your bigfoot gifts to other bigfoot enthusiasts this holiday season? I like this Steenburg design but not sure of those prices even with the discount. (wasn't sure if this should go in the marketplace or not)

  5. If so, if it's me you mean, that's not my message. My sense of NatFoot's post was that he wanted them to contribute, not just read. Anyone can lurk and read. My intent was to suggest that charging them to provide the content contributions we want might be counter-productive. Instead, if we could entice them to provide that content, perhaps we could draw more people into paying for premium memberships. In other words, the forum invest in the premium memberships for some number of contributing researchers in order to draw even more readers into the premium section. Hopefully there would be more return than investment. MIB

  7. I worked in television and film production for a decade. Unless it's NatGeo, it's ALL about entertainment and bringing in viewer numbers and advertising dollars. It could never be about real research, because mostly, imho, really looking for evidence is boring, uncomfortable and as exciting as watching paint dry for 55 minutes of every hour and 4 minutes of really cool stuff and 1 minute of wondering if today is the day you're going to die. Not very watchable television, that! Studios don't give a darn about exploration or finding a new species. People at the top don't go outside, lol! They work 12-18 hours a day and eat, sleep and live by numbers. I know. I worked for them. My former boss is now President of a major Studio. Any show they create MUST be monetarily successful, and the uncertainties of bigfooting would be unproductive, literally.. Anyone starring on a show is an actor first, and a researcher second ( or third, or fourth...). Any Bigfoot show you watch is, first and foremost, ENTERTAINMENT. Nothing more, nothing less.

  8. I haven't reviewed those, they sound outdated. Changing them is not a problem. I disagree, the BFF does facilitate research. We could do better though and I'm open to it.

  9. A professional camera crew following you around the woods is folly. One or two men and a GoPro would work.

  10. Why should I care who is winning the Bigfoot popularity contest? I will grant you that some organizations are self sufficient. But many are not. Just count the people in this thread that go by the title “field researcher”. The BFF is a VALUE to the average researcher. I think it is you who is not paying attention. Ive sent a bone to a bone study because of this forum because of rubbing elbows with other researchers. Hell I just recently got to go to lunch with Nathanfooter and had a great talk. If the BFF didn’t exist? I would be sitting at home watching Finding Bigfoot reruns..... This is not to say that the BFF doesn’t have room for improvement. But I think Gig has done a spectacular job with revamping the forum. I would pay 20 bucks a year just not have to deal with FB and look at the Field Trips 2.0 section. Never mind all the friends I’ve made on here. The insight, the SSR for my area and the acceptance I’ve received for being pro kill. Not gonna find that on the blue forum.... If your not a fan? Your not a fan I guess.

  11. Although OLYMPIC PROJECT put a hiatus on expeditions it was stated that was due to research emphasis and not a total abandonment of that process. They did more group projects as a force multiplier once they had some success with possibilities like the nests. I would in no way compare the arrogance of the old BFRO with the OP. Quality people have left BFRO over the years en masse. This is not the case with OP as far as I have followed them. At least the Co-Founder of OP has a daytime job unlike the BFRO King. Sure it is a status symbol to collect professors and scientists to your team, sort of like real life science and academia in that respect. I will say that some researchers hedge their bets and have their toes embedded in multiple research efforts/groups. You know I just listened to the latest podcast from Area X and they are regurgitating the same stuff they poked others on BFF 1.o over, like,--wait for it, "faux speech" -- translation: vocalization/verbalizations that sound human, despite continuing to call things gorillas and apes when viewed from satellite imagery from Google Earth no less. It sort of pained me to listen to the former owner of the BFF backsliding and describing things that others were castigated over in a previous life. Full circle baby, full circle. Hope the formula for a quality show learns some humility from previous failures in the field which pretty much describes status to date.

  12. Central Oregon is anything from the Cascade Crest east to where service starts to come from US 395 rather than US 97. There is an epic amount of forest on the east slope of the Cascades extending out to the edge of the basin and range sage country. The east slope of the Cascades has a huge number of bigfoot reports. Head of the Metolius River, for instance. There are also quite a few from the Ochoco Mountains NE of Prineville and around Paulina and East Lakes SE from Bend. Lot down towards Klamath Falls / Sprague River area, too. Funny thing .. there are some reports from out in the sage. They mostly come from areas around stock watering areas. I wonder if human activity, adding stock watering troughs in the desert which are filled from deep wells via propane pumps and wildmills, have created "islands" by which bigfoots can now leap-frog across what was previously uncrossable desert. I have lots of ideas ... but no certain knowledge. I'd guess either head of the Metolius, Camp Sherman, Tam McArthur Rim, or a little south around Century Drive / Mt Bachelor. I vaguely know Russ. Russ often transports Bob Gimlin to events. There was another bigfoot notable who did that until somewhat recently. That guy .. I won't name names .. seemed to be milking the relationship for every $$ he could. Russ **appears** to be treating Bob more respectfully, less as a resource to be leveraged for cash. I can change my mind if things prove otherwise down the road, but for now, I think Russ is ok. MIB
