A friend of mine who drives charter buses had an incident a few years ago about 45 road miles from my home. He was driving a group from Helena, MT to a hot springs resort near Anaconda, MT. On I-15 about 10 miles from Butte, MT, in an area called Elk Park, elevation 6,200'. As he came down from the mountains on to the long straight road there was thick but patchy fog on the ground. He slowed the bus immediately and while in the first patch of fog, something covered in brown hair with head on a level with his eyes (this was a full sized charter bus, not a school bus) appeared out of the fog immediately in front of the left front of the bus. He couldn't maneuver and it bounced off the front corner and as he watched in the side mirror appeared to kind of roll down the left side before disappearing in the fog. He is a lifelong hunter, former Marine EOD technician and detailed observer. He had a quick but extremely close look and said it was no bear, elk, moose or any other animal he is familiar with. The blow was so glancing that none of the passengers noticed it and because of the fog he didn't stop until they dropped down into Butte. There was no visible damage or evidence of the impact so he continued to the resort and told me of the even the next weekend. There are a number of Bigfoot sightings in this part of the state, at least two within 15 miles of this incident, one of which was featured on Finding Bigfoot. In that case, a businessman returning to Bozeman from Butte was driving a Ford Expedition over Homestake Pass on I-90 in the afternoon when what he first took to be a hunter in a gillie suit ran down a steep embankment from the left, ran on to the highway on two legs clearing the center Jersey barrier without pausing then continued across the two eastbound lanes directly in front of the witness and up the bank on the right. The lady hiflier referred to actually hit a deer that veered in front of her car and she saw a Bigfoot in her rear view mirror pursuing several more deer. I drove by the spot in September of 2018 returning from a RV trip; it's about a dozen miles north of a sighting on Moscow Mountain reported by an airline pilot and his girl friend in 2005 in which they reported observing a female and young Bigfoot for several minutes.2 points

I've been watching the entire series, recording on DVR to FF through commercials and back up if something catches my eye. Last week I caught a camera man partially concealed behind a tree at the edge of a drone shot. I think what Ronny saw on thermal last night was a similar issue. I just brought up the recorded show from last night and found the part with the thermal image and took a photo with my phone which I'm posting below (the four lights and light rectangles to the upper right of the subject are reflections from my kitchen lights and window). The color fringed white blob to the right is Dr. Mayor and the figure on the left that appears to be partially hidden by a tree is what Ronny is describing to her via walkie talkie. That image appears much hotter on top and cooler yellow below and appears fairly slim. Dr. Mayor is wearing an unzipped insulated jacket and is sitting on the ground. When Ronny is describing his thermal contact he is looking through what I assume are thermal binoculars held to his eyes, but the view we see and I photographed is on a handheld screen like a phone. She is using what appears to be a phone to scan for the object he is describing. I understand how a thermal works but have never used one, so assume the 55 degree F is the ambient temperature. My guess is the figure behind the tree is a crew member due to the color variation. It's entirely possible Dr. Mayor wouldn't be able to see the figure from her position even with an accurate bearing My overall impression of the show is that, in trying to appear as a carefully planned expedition using an advance algorithm to calculate the best spot and time to search, they actually seem to be operating off-the-cuff. The whole "command center" thing with Bryce haring off to visit Jeff Meldrum, visit the wildlife center to see the tiger and interview witnesses seems very forced, almost like an entirely different show. While watching the show last night, I was thinking exactly the same thing that SWWASAS mentioned, he should be using either compass or clock face directions and it should have been planned and understood by all parties from the beginning. I read about half of Ronny's book "Monsterland" but he is so into the high strangeness it finally became tiring, especially his long interview with Mike Patterson (hope I have the name correct for Bigfoot Ontario). I have an open mind (we have had some "interesting" things occur in our home relating to a previous resident who died here) but try to keep whatever brains remain from running out. I've met Russel Accord and he strikes me as solid individual and Bob Gimlin speaks highly of him . IMHO, a much more interesting and effective dynamic would be to team Accord and Dr. Mayor. His woodsmanship and subject knowledge combined with her field experience and scientific background would be interesting and more likely to yield results.2 points

Behind Lake Ellen today. Lake is froze over but it was 34 degrees today and wet snow. Out of 3 batteries on my drone only one worked. Got about 20-30 min of flight footage. The new drone rules are dumb. It has a 350 ft ceiling. It takes into account the take off point elevation. So flying up the mtn I was running out of airspace! Need to launch from the highest point available. Saw deer, moose, rabbit tracks was it. Would love to find some Moose sheds! Checked out the “swamp” were the skunk cabbage grows in spring. I think the "no road kill yet" conundrum is explained by a couple of points. The first of which is to question the presumption that this is actually the case. I'm not convinced there hasn't been more than one collision (several reported), with some individuals injured (ditto) and possibly even a death, or several. One thing that I am amused by is the idea that if anything momentous happens regarding confirmation of the species, everybody across the globe will see it on the news the next morning. If there truly have not been any...again, highly doubtful...or that they are exceptionally rare, it is probably explained by how lightning fast, massive and durable these animals are. Experience teaches us that even an animal as seemingly frail but fast as a deer can take a pretty good wallop, and unless it is killed or disabled outright it will have the ability to run pretty far off the road before succumbing. No way to know of course, but I''ll bet a significant percentage of deer that are struck each year wind up recovering from their injuries, or at least surviving them. These factors and a highly adapted intelligence makes it highly unlikely a BF is going to "buy it" this way, or that there is going to be a body we can find if it does. Think about this too...if you are on a lonely country road at night and something on two legs bolts out in front of you and you hit it, it is possible you might elect to flee the scene in a panic, thinking you've hit a human. If so, the person probably lives in terror of LE coming to his door, while scanning the local papers and the internet for confirmation of his crime..which never happens, and of course nobody is ever the wiser, and he just explains to his insurance company/body shop guy that he just hit a deer/elk/moose/dog/cow. Wonder how many confessions to family members and friends there have been, describing such a scenario, and which will never reach the public?1 point

Seems like with such compulsive behavior, we would have a roadkill corpse by now. Like you said, it just doesn't make sense.1 point

I have to say that is the point. Of course one doesn't have to have the volume wide open either. The volume control has large knurling that I could actually count to know how much would be comfortably enough. I don't need to hear a toad at 50 ft. LOL. The goal is heavy footfalls at say 30 yards give or take, and the direction that they might be at. The thermal and NV both are good out to 100 yds,, so 30-50 yards for good resolution is what I'm thinking of. Having a buddy walk heavily at different distances while I pay attention to different volume levels via the fingertip notches molded into the control knob would be helpful. That's why I purchased them this time of year. So I could experiment BEFORE I am at camp. Otherwise I would just turn the device up to the max........and end up just hiding in my trailer all night because everything sounds like T-Rex Thanks, BRB, that's good to know because in the past it was a risk I was unwilling to take. I should have guessed no one would buy these things if they didn't do what you said. I too thought about the audio input jack. I doubt recording is feasible except for the way I mentioned. Unless My electronics genius friend can tap in on one of the ear speaker circuits. That guy can do anything! But I'm not ready for such a mod at this time, even if it could work. Maybe after the warranty period is up.1 point

Seems like a promo video for some folks looking to get on TV. He saw eyes, conical head and nose...but didn't shoot.1 point

Well, rather than focus on proving, you can focus on understanding, so that when someone does prove existence, you can answer the followup questions like how, why, when, what. MIB1 point

I have fired many rounds through an unsuppressed AR pistol wearing them and have never noticed a delay in when they kick in. You should be good to go. I could never figure out a way to record with them using the input jack. If you devise a way please let me know. It does make you aware of every faint sound around you. It definitely takes some getting used to.1 point

BobbyO, They did report (not in the show but in other articles) that they were near the vicinity of the Ochoco National Forest,. That is why I posted the stats above earlier. My guess is that when they say that they used an algorithm to find the best location to investigate BFs, that does not imply to be using BF reports per se. They might be using other parameters that they think correlate with BF habitat - like food availability (deer, elk, berries, etc), water availability (creeks, rivers, lakes), vegetation type (old growth forests, etc.), snow level in winter and spring, etc and generate an index of BF habitat per time of year in a US GIS map. That could explain why the SSR stats does not find this location worthy of investigation, but other correlates might. Explorer1 point

We will never know. I still cannot figure out the role of the guy in the cabin other than he is the producer. It could be as simple as he hates camping.1 point

The FLIR image was probably someone that had to relieve themself and forgot all about the FLIR camera. The other thing I thought strange was that when they were trying to give Mayor the position of the image relative to her they said left and right. How could they know what direction she was facing to know it was left or right? They should have given her a bearing and estimated distance from her position. Example: NW of your position at 100 yards. You could see her confusion trying to figure out where to look. I wonder if you could hire Seal Team Six on their days off?1 point

Something else that they may do is jump "big" things in their path. My son was out one night, standing uphill above a creek. He said he heard some coyotes headed his way, yipping. He stepped behind a shed to keep out of their sight, & when they got to the creek, they all went down in it to get across. He said that there was "something else" with them, running on all fours, that was the size of a big yearling calf. When it got to the bank of the creek, it easily jumped across, & ran on off beside the coyotes. That creek is about 16 feet across where it jumped.-1 points
