Welcome to the BFF, usmcjrhd10, Frank Piercy, Lam90, GhobiSquatch, William Egan, and Crtclthnkr!!!! Not only is critical inquiry tolerated here, it is encouraged! This can be a tough crowd at times, but they are fair.2 points

You have a point Huntster. Yes, if bigfoot is brought into the Fish and Wildlife Service in Oregon, their funding for animal studies would need immediate reorganizing. It would be worth the effort if bigfoot is brought in tomorrow. Oregon state and the DOI should all ready be in the process to stop any hunting of bigfoots with fines and jail time that gets the attention of the most stubborn hunters. The federal government and state would need to pass premade laws regulating entry into bigfoot habitats. Areas where bigfoot resides with its family would be closed off until the DOI gets a handle on the situation. Yes, funding of less important creatures would be pushed to the back so bigfoot could be funded and studied.1 point

Hiflier you have done much to further our knowledge of bigfoot. Thanks. I support your efforts to use eDNA to track bigfoot. The Center for Disease Control gets funding to study HIV, Cancer, and other dangerous health conditions. The public demands this. I believe the public demands to know about Bigfoot and what dangers are associated with them. Bigfoot has been reported to be aggressive and sometimes dangerous. We don't know how many citizens have been carried off by a hungry bigfoot that can be aggressive like a Black Bear. Funding to get to the bottom of the bigfoot natural science question is imperative so hikers and hunters can be alert and remain safe. When coming face to face with a bigfoot you need to know what to do. Has the DOI failed to inform people?1 point

I thank you for that. I would also like to thank many other members for their encouragements and support since I began this venture. It has all helped greatly in keeping me motivated to stay the course. Anyone wishing to embark on a particular path of discovery, whatever it may be, there is much to be said about learning as much as one can ahead of time should an opportunity for follow through ever occur. In the confidence-building department it can't be beat and allows one to start out so much further along in any dialogue that may present itself. I can't tell you how glad I am for knowing what I now know. I owe the nudging to learn more all to everyone here on the BFF and am grateful.1 point

And I 100% agree as my facetious post demonstrates. Soil nematodes get funding for pete's sake. Federal funds are available for some of the most what the public would consider the most ridiculous things. An eight foot tall hairy biped running around National Forests is ANYTHING but ridiculous. IMHO, it's the most serious thing one could think of. Watch a stabilized version of the PGF and tell me it's not true. Yes, it's called money, lots and lots of very big money. The reason I'm personally going after academic science is to build the case. In order to do that I need knowledge and answers to some very pointed scientific inquiry. And it's a talk I'm ready to have. It's why focusing on e-DNA is so critical on a number of levels. I truly believe that the nuts and bolts of discovery lay in that technology and my dialogue is being shaped accordingly. It why I've learned about things like "phylogenetic inference" and other terms. DNA, RNA, genes, loci, alleles, base pairs, PCR, high throughput, BLAST, MOTU, metabarcoding, markers, phenotypes, and all other manner of understanding DNA testing and field sample protocols. If I'm going to sit down with someone I want to be able to debate the process of species determination as it would apply to something previously unknown/unrecognized. As it is, I don't know nearly enough, but I think I can hold my own given the chance, and that chance is coming in just a couple of days1 point

I ain't buying it There's something else going on. It has nothing to do funding for research .Grants are a dime a dozen if it's asked for by the right person or organization . So I raise the b#ll Sh#t Flag https://www.businessinsider.com/james-lankford-federal-fumbles-report-of-government-waste-2017-111 point

It could be a very promising site but what they are doing by acting surprised to find things they obviously knew were there (or could be found there) and possibly exaggerating distances makes the show less credible. In doing this they are not helping the community of researchers who are doing serious work in the field. I like that they are using the latest technology and less hollering and banging on trees.1 point

Love the stories guys.....bringing back many of those fiery memories! Here are a few pics from the weekend hikes......the first pic is a rock that I sit on at Gift Tree #2 for a rest when hiking through, and always gifting rocks, piling them a certain way, and I left the stick triangle the other day, but guess some critter didn't like it, took a dump where I sit, and circled in red, lol. The 1st print pic is in limestone, as old as the formation of the rock itself......of interest, there are Dino tracks nearby, and both covered by volcanic ash on the same day that has since water eroded away.....I left the print 'as is', leaving the heavier creek gravel in the print & toes. And a few fresh prints......a local buddy who has a mild interest in BF asked me why I find so many prints, and maybe some of you guys have the same question.......just been researching this one area near my home several times a week for 20 years, so I've learned some of their patterns of travel, have found their trails, plus they are using many of the ones that I have made over the years......add a lil rain, and giddy-up prints!!1 point

If the creature is known about. then why would they laugh? Don't they realize that if the public is told that the creature is real that public pressure to get the necessary funding would save the day? Think of the publishing that could be done just on that creature. AND it would easily fall under all categories like climate change, conservation, habitat creation, habitat monitoring, and a myriad other department supervisor purviews. There would be so much mileage that could be had just because of the nature and needs of such an animal. And there it is. Bottom line, nail on the head, The very thing I've been pushing to find out....from academia....from F&W. That answer has NOTHING to do with funding, habitat preservation, climate change, monitoring, OR publishing. All of those tie-ins would come later once the public is informed. So I will reiterate Norseman's question: Does government know about it? Because most, if not all of us, don't see how the government WOULDN'T know.1 point

Look at the Homo floresiensis find. Right off the bat came several years of argument over whether ir not the skeletons were diseased. When that was over, and despite the obvious link to Ebu gogo and/or Orang Pendek, no flood of funding, research, or interest followed. In fact, the usual dismissal of "cultural memory" is how these cryptics were immediately re-swept under the rug. Science is completely corrupted just like everything else.1 point

You have chosen deliberate ignorance by failing to avail yourself of the definitive technical work regarding the most important visual evidence in this field, "When Roger Met Patty". I refuse to waste any more of my time reading ignorant drivel so from here on out I will not longer be aware of your posts. I invite my companions on this journey of discovery to join me in saving a bit more server memory for thoughtful discussion or at the least questions from those who are educable. I just discovered that for some reason the system will not allow me to add Foxhill to my ignore list, so I'll simply have to do it the old fashioned way.1 point

Hey norseman & SWWASAS.....hope you guys are doing well! LOL, playing with fire is a part of a boys life for sure:) I remember playing toy solders with my older brother once....it was outside and he spent hours setting up all his plastic solders, tanks, and planes, while I only put out a few guys. When the war started, I told him my guys had flame throwers and pulled out mom's HairNet spray, flicked my dads zippo lighter, and melted his army..1 point

AM I certain? Absolutely... and this area is not remote at all. They just want us to think they are out in the "130 square mile" wilderness. Here is the post that really proves it. (link) 6 and 8 mile trips are lies... There are no two points more than 4 miles apart. I suppose step for step on a trail could add distance, but all of these spots can be driven to. I don't know the exact location of every incident, but of the sights we know, none are more than 4 miles apart as the crow flies. I do suspect some of the sites were on the ridge south (not north as mentioned) of basecamp and Rock Creek Lake. That south ridge appears to be unaffected by logging, so it is primo territory. I'm certainly not saying there are no sasquatch there. As I examine terrain, I think it's very possible, but as a keeper of the SSR database, I have to think whatever algorithm gave them this spot is also a lie. No Public BF data supports this area at all. Maybe the algorithm highlighted available filming dates on land they had permission to be on. Every time they said East, they likely meant West. If they said North, they likely meant South. The "bigfoot highway" trails shown in LIDAR are old logging roads that are mapped. The fold out map that Russell pointed to was spot on. The map on the wall that Bryce marked up is inaccurate. I looked and could not find that area on the maps anywhere around. Detail that is normally available on topo maps was all scrubbed. We saw enough that we should have been able to read the name of a creek or a mountain. The coordinates on Bryce's notebook are a lie. I believe they expected that nobody could figure out the real location, but we did. Joe Public doesn't care if they exaggerate. The producers care about entertainment, not truth. They wanted the narrative to be that they were in a much larger area than they really were. This goes right along with the "manufactured drama" that they also gave us. It's not all bad though. They had some good ideas. Maybe our next trick should be to find the cabin Bryce was in. I'll bet it's not really 39 miles away.1 point

Keep in mind, my own criticism is based on 1 1/2 episodes. Looking for hair in a nest was a cool idea. It seems better as it goes along, but I'll always be bothered by the stupid background music. So here is some manufactured drama I spoke of. Russell had to rappel down a cliff to save time... or somebody could've driven a jeep to within 100 yards of where he was. Every distance they mention about their positions is greatly exaggerated. Russell's '3 day climb' was west of the base camp (44.437298, -119.814284) , not east, and there are logging roads going up there. That whole graphic that shows the ridge east of base camp is BS. At minimum, it is flipped left to right, but it also doesn't indicate accurate N-S lines. It's tilted. That's probably all done so that nerds like us can't figure it out. I guess they underestimated us. Russell on the ridge is at about 44.438740, -119.866810, overlooking Rock Creek Lake, which is Southeast of his position at 44.428260, -119.830200. When Russell points on the map at water sources, his finger is at about 44.435300, -119.878090, which is West Branch Rock Creek. This may be a meaningless gesture for the camera. The lake with the name scribbled out is Rock Creek Lake (pictured above). The 6200 ft peak he was on is slightly above, and to the right of his finger. "W" is the ridge, and "X" is base camp. "Z" is where his finger is at. "Y" was that little lake noted in the LIDAR scan.1 point

The lake (apparently near base camp) seen in the drone video at about 15 minutes into episode 1 is at 44.436920, -119.815090 I was browsing through the episode looking for the notepad (not even sure it's in this episode) and saw the lake right after they set up base camp. I figured finding a lake with that shape of shoreline with a green field behind it should be fairly easy... it was. Apologies for using a picture of my tv. I have better skills than that but was in a hurry. "U" is the topo location Explorer noted the other day. "A" is the location just noted for the trail map location by 1980squatch "B" is the lake I just found. Methinks maybe those maps are not decoys after all.1 point

I'm not watching the show, so no idea how this matches, but as I laugh out loud at the suggestion this is a bigfoot hotpsot. I think it could be a dummy map. The area Explorer found is Wheeler County, with a grand total of ZERO entries in the SSR. With a little digging I found two Oregon Bigfoot Reports that potentially can be added. (I have not read either report yet)1 point

OMG... the drama.... How could a cow skull get underwater in that remote swampy area? Here's the answer... You are on a ranch. Ranches have cows. "Abandoned truck in the middle of nowhere?"0 points

It really does not matter about the funding . How much does it cost for a bullet to place one of these creatures on a slab and have it sorry butt carried out off the forest in a helo by the gov. I am sorry but I am not going to listen to your bs on how these science freaks work. A little woody wood pecker means nothing to some thing as large as what we are about talking that has high value to the military like darpa. But again I have to keep to my silence. You are the gov. route is not easy so why should we trust you. There is so much conspiracy that it is hard to trust anyone. Like you said if we shoot one federal land the gov takes possession of the body. We shoot one on state land the state land takes over . If we shoot one on private land the county will then take possession of it which well then go to the state which will then go to the feds. Either way the creature gets shot the feds are going to get their hands on it . Science will not have control over it since the corpse will belong to the feds. Either way there will not be no funds in research since it will be buried in secrecy. If you want to keep pushing the issue you may due so but be prepared to be laughed at like you have . This is normal to stop the issue .They already have done the research and have the specimen/specimens. My question is what is it that brought you here ?-1 points

If it turned out BF was a general threat to humans and was an intelligent hominid kidnapping elderly, women and children...or some sort of alien species... Should we really stop people from going out and stacking up bodies? Shoot, some people here think the military is already doing this. I don't believe either of the two points above to be true, but I'm playing devil's advocate against your absolute point(s).-1 points

Georgerm See Georgerm this has already happen when St Helen erupted which was a natural disaster . A lot of wild life did die in that eruption and this includes these creatures . Our Gov was able to get their hands on these creatures after the eruption. They were even able to get there hands on some live ones that were burned and treated for those burns. So there right there was their perfect case to confirm that these creatures were real. What makes it also so good is that that it also makes it perfect to deny that what people witness never happen. So do you really believe that you can trust the word of some government official who has no authority to speak about what our gov knows about these creatures . One who is all of a sudden coming on a forum talking about funding to study these creatures when the funding has already been given into the study of these creature and has been hidden from the public. If he is coming on a public forum and talking about these creatures and works for the gov then why should we PM. Why not make it public on what he really knows . Just come out with it and not make it so secretive . There is not a lot to hide that we might not already know now. Make it public knowledge on a public forum. Let people know what is really going on . Dugas cajan See I am for Open Disclosure.-1 points
