  1. The date has been set for the 2020 Oklahoma Bigfoot Symposium, it will be held March 7-8, 2020 at CC Camp in Stilwell, Oklahoma. More details will be forthcoming as we get this site back up to where it was before. http://www.okbigfootsymposium.com/ This symposium is separate from the Bigfoot Festival held in Honobia, OK each October. Stilwell is in Adair County, which is in eastern OK and borders on western Arkansas. Sequoyah Co. separates Adair from LeFlore Co. I've been to Adair Co numerous times. and Stilwell a few times and it's heavily wooded and hilly. The county to the west of Adair is Cherokee Co. which was the location of a sightings report that was recently added to the BFRO Reports 2.0; it's the Lake Tenkiller report added on Jan. 14. One interesting part of this symposium is they hold night hikes; they're led by researchers and visitors to the symposium can join in if they wish. They set up listening posts so I'm guessing they do vocalizations. Speakers are: Jerry Hestand - author - NAWAC Jim Whitehead - Biologist - MABRC (Mid -America Bigfoot Research Center) Randy Savig - Audio Specialist - MABRC Robert Swain - APES (I don't know what this stands for or just who they are) D.W. Lee - MABRC

  3. The more boxes they checked, the more suspicious the show became. The fact that each of the usual signs of Bigfoot activity occurred and occurred only once (to my recall) made it seem like they were just working their way through the Bigfoot Lore Checklist.

  4. That would be a good idea to see if there is sign. Of course if he is unscrupulous he could arrange for you to find sign. If he arranged for you to find everything known by man to be associated with BF, like Expedition Bigfoot did, I would be really suspicious.

  5. I also enjoy reading these old accounts. I spent a slow night at work reading several of them. Even found some near where I live . Thanks for sharing.

  6. Would NOT want to be on the business end of that baby. Lewis and Clark had a lot of good things to say about their espontoons. A kind of half pike about six feet long with a foot-long spear point. Revolutionary War militia were required to be outfitted with them at Valley Forge.

  7. I'm a fan of ESEE and carry two knives when out in the woods. One is a neck knive, the IZULA. It is on a lanyard and can be accessed instantly. The other is an ESEE4. Great all around knife for survival purposes. I've been looking for a large knife although I don't find them as nearly as practical for every-day use in the backcountry. My 4" ESEE batons wood nicely. TOPS has several large knives I've been looking at. Having enough choils, especially in the right place for your hand size, along with an adequate amount of upward-sloping jimping makes all the difference in comfort and control when bearing down on it. Also, don't forget to make sure is the knife is legal in your state.

  8. I hope to get a chance soon to go back and read these. Old encounters are always fun to read but back then I can only imagine that some print was akin to news today, a lot of entertainment with a wee bit of fact checking.

  9. Kirafu makes a great pack BUT they are heavy. Let's compare my Seek Outside Revolution Fortress 6,300 with the Kirafu Cavern on a 26" tactical platform frame. The SO would be fully waterproof but the Kirafu would need a pack cover Cost of the Kirafu would be $764 and weigh 7lbs 1oz. (with pack cover) Cost of the SO would be $529 and weigh 4lbs 2oz. https://store.kifaru.net/all-frames-c38.aspx https://seekoutside.com/hunting-backpacks-breakaway/ Kirafu makes a gazillion add-on items (pockets, pouches, etc) so you get more to chose from for customization, no question about it. Check Kirafu. SO is significantly lighter. Check Seek Outside SO costs significantly less. Check Seek Outside Kirafu is a more recognized name in the hunting pack industry. Check Kirafu. You could lighten the weight of the Kirafu by 14oz if you choose the Ultralight frame but I don't know what you're giving up in the process. You should check it out to be sure. I think comfort is paramount so if you can try both on first before buying, I would do so. If not, I'd suggest buying both and returning the one you like the least. A lot of people like the SO Lanner 5,400 and Saker 7,400 for a hunting pack. Me, I like simplicity with minimal pockets on the outside. It depends on what you're looking for from a pack. If you're looking at Seek Outside, Kirafu, Exo, Mystery Ranch and Stone Glacier, you're going to get a good pack. I'm partial to Seek Outside because it is the lightest of the group , can be customized, is waterproof, and rides like a dream. You'll get excellent discussions and information about the packs from all of these companies here: https://www.rokslide.com/forums/forums/backpacks.16/ One last thing about the SO Revolution Fortress 6,300. The volume is 6,300ci for the main bag, the Talon (center pouch on outside) is 800ci for a total of 7,100ci or 116 liters of storage. I added two belt pouches and a top lid for another 16 liters of storage. The main bag rolls down into a small bag when you're not hauling volume so it is not bulky at all and can be used as a day pack.
