  1. I have been monitoring the site since the beginning of march until now. I am glad to report that the spring time nests are back, although moved due to human encroachment, and the bigfoot themselves are active again. FTC

  2. Hello. Im new to the forum and am just a casual interested layperson on the topic of Bigfoot. I have two freinds who have had direct sightings of bigfoot and have known both of them for long enough and well enough to really trust them and what they saw. Over the years I have become convinced that Bigfoot do exist. I am not really on the fence about that anymore due to hearing too many credible accounts of people having interactions with them. I wanted to share something that happened to me twice years ago in the Wasatch Mountains in Utah and hear any perspectives on the chances it was a bigfoot encounter. I'm not looking for definite answers as obviously these cannot be given for my experience but any insight and/or knowledge about activity in this area would be appreciated. I used to live in a pretty rundown neighborhood and there were a few boys whose parents were not doing basically any supervision at all with them. No curfew or bedtime, they could run around all day and night and even didn't go to school often and these boys were only 9 or 10 years old. Anyway I took these boys under my wing and we are all freinds to this day. My wife and I used to take them camping and hiking all the time. I used to love going hiking at night (I know now that is not very smart) and so one night I went hiking around 10 at night with a friend of mine. We were at the top of Big Cottonwood canyon and the hike started at a lake called silver lake right off the main road. It was around 10 or 11 at night and we hiked up from that lake to another smaller lake about a mile and a half up into the mountains from there. That whole area is a famous ski resort area and there are even houses at the base where the hike began. There is no camping allowed up these trails and no road that goes to the lake we hiked up too. When we got to the top we sat at the side of the lake, its more like a very big pond actually. Anyway while sitting there enjoying the evening and solitude we heard the sound of a large boulder being thrown into the water and this spooked us because there are no cliffs or steep hills a boulder might be thrown from. It was dark but there was moonlight and we could not see anyone standing near the lake all around. It was not a fish jumping and it was not a beaver slapping its tail. The sound had that bass to it from something big being thrown. I yelled out that I had a gun and then we decided to leave because it was weird that someone was messing with us so late at night out in the woods. I did not think much of that after leaving. About a month later I decided to take three of those boys with me on the same hike again around 10 or 11 at night. We got to the lake and were sitting by the waters edge and the same thing happened. A boulder was thrown into the water judging by the sound of it and this time I was more spooked because it just seemed so strange for it to happen again to me a month apart from the other experience. Another one was thrown and I yelled out that I had a gun and something about not messing with us. I decided we better leave and so we started hiking out of there. This time though something followed us out off trail and behind us a ways. It was breaking sticks and branches loudly. The kids were terrified and one of them "Little Chris" was shaking so badly he could barely walk. Whatever it was was getting closer as we walked down the trail. It finally got close enough that I thought we were in real trouble. This part lasted about 5 minutes with the breaking of the branches and the following and getting closer. I had made sure to be behind the boys and so put myself in danger. At this point I picked up a softball sized rock and prepared to face whatever this thing was. I really thought "it" was about to happen and prepared for the worst. I started yelling loudly to try and intimidate whatever it was and waited for it to happen. I was very scared and kicking myself terribly for taking these boys out into the woods so recklessly. But nothing beyond that happened and the breaking sounds stopped happening too and we made the hike all the way back to the car without incident. Back then I did not have internet and so it was puzzling and scary and we never could figure out what that whole situation was but a few years later when I got on the net I happened across a Bigfoot forum or blog or something and danged if what happened to us did sound like a typical Bigfoot situation. Anyway any thoughts on this would be appreciated and especially any thoughts on if they are thought to exists in the Wasatch Mountain range in Utah or not would be welcomed. Thanks.

  3. I can understand some evolution of theory. It has sure occurred with me over the long term. For years I considered these creatures as bipedal apes. Now I consider them to be hominins.

  4. That is a heck of a story man!! I wish that had happened to me. Can you expand on why you think there is only one of them and how that is possible given the sightings people report all over the country and on other continents?

  6. I haven't checked any of the episodes out yet but looks interesting. A lot of theories that point to geomagnetic anomalies. Nothing definitive to prove it though. I see what is going on here. It is a ratings battle. Discovery Channel w/Destination America has Finding Bigfoot and Alaska Monsters. Travel Channel has Expedition Bigfoot and Alaska Triangle. History channel has Missing in Alaska and MonsterQuest.

  7. I see that point but I don't really notice him doing that about himself. I think he is making the case for believing OTHER honest people who have encounters and we should trust basic hard working people in general. In either case you seem like a good guy and we sure as heck don't have to agree on everything.

  8. Must be a character flaw on my part, because when someone feels the need to continually tell you how honest they are it raises suspicion.

  9. No way! Bullies in the BF community? I can think of a few cases of that. What tends to happen is people get intimidated and influenced by the court of opinion. FB encourages an "us vs them" arena of conflict. Bigfootery has always been contentious so the mud slinging fits right in. People with valid experiences can be swayed by organized communities of strangeness like Dr. J and dummies like MK and all kinds of people who like to influence others with rubbish.

  10. You just don't understand his motives. I don't mind if you disagree but disagree with what he is doing not what you THINK he is doing. I have watched every video he has put out so its easy to see his motives for what he is doing-- like them or not. He is already accomplishing his goal by providing comfort and solace to people who normally would not have been comfortable sharing the stories. Many of these people have found the courage to use their full names when before Steve came along they were afraid to do so. These people already feel unafraid and unashamed when before they did not. Goal accomplished. He also really doesn't like bullies and so when he heard that there were certain members of the bigfoot community (I don't know who) that slander and bully, intimidate and change the testimony of witnesses to fit a particular narrative (anti woo) he decided to start calling them all out. On the evidence. Steve is just a fly by the seat of your pants guy. This has created some inconsistencies with his approach. I think he has put his foot in his mouth a number of times and will have to eat crow because of it. He is way too hard on researchers and people out there looking for evidence because that is not HIS stated goal. I see this as an immaturity on his part. He is not interested in gathering data because he knows they already exist and people ought to be able to trust the world of good people withing their community. I agree with these sentiments but not the part about researchers being useless. That is just a dumb point IMO and he picks on Meldrum which is one of my favorite people within the community. In this respect he is being narrow minded.

  11. I have looked at the various wilderness areas in Washington State from the air and quite frankly cannot figure out why some were designated Wilderness in the first place. Sometimes chunks of land near them are far more interesting. Indian Heaven is one of those. I have wondered if they are simply BF hotspots and by the wilderness designation, logging is avoided, road travel does not happen, and only a few backpackers make it in there every year. Back packers are easily avoided by resident BF and even if seen, the backpacker probably would just think it cool that they saw one. I have even wondered if the prohibition of low flights over the wilderness area is more to keep something from being seen from the air than bother a few backpackers who probably are bored with the trail anyway.

  12. Jevning is an odd duck. He left SQ because he was so worried about his reputation, but his Mr Black/Bob Garrett stuff did more to torpedo his reputation than SQ ever could. His show intro is flat out amazing and he usually has pretty interesting guests on. However, his personality and voice doesn't lend themselves to radio/podcasts. That, and the continual name dropping gets old fast. I don't find many of the well known researchers that interesting, so I am not interested in hearing their names continually dropped in order to get some sort of weird Bigfoot street cred. I enjoy listening cryptozoology podcasts while I am working, but there are honestly so few of them that are done well. I couldn't do any better myself, so I understand the difficulty in making a good show.

  13. When I popped into Rictor's Instagram page he was challenging people to fist fight him at conventions. He deleted those posts and reposted the artwork again without the comments. Between that and the vulgar (albeit funny in a juvenile manner) artwork, all I could think of is that Bob Gimlin is lessened by this idiot's support.

  14. I do not think georgerm is so naive as to think THAT. There are people all through Oregon's federal wilderness areas, not in large numbers, but they are present at various times of year and their sign, though often faint, is there to be seen by anyone with eyes and experience. Hunters. Fishermen. Off-trail backpackers. Photographers. Geez, that almost describes ... me. Yeah, it does, 'cause that's what I do, that's where I do it, and I see people .. not lots, but now and then .. doing the same things. Wilderness does not eliminate humans, it merely eliminates motors. If a place was truly set aside for sasquatch it would have to be done in a way that completely eliminates public entry. The only publicly owned land that I can think of which is off-limits to the public in Oregon is the Boardman bombing range and a couple of municipal watersheds. Those still have plenty of people in them, just not "mom 'n' pop out walking the dog". .. so I am really curious what georgerm was thinking when he typed that. MIB

  15. Hello everyone. Just joined the forum to discuss bigfoot with people. I know two people who have had direct sight of them. One of them saw a bigfoot while we were riding four wheeler in central Utah. I had an experience that I think was very possibly a bigfoot but did not see it. For a long time I was in the maybe camp but the last year I have spent a little more time listening to other peoples accounts and considering more deeply if I trust the two people I know who say they saw one. This has put me in the camp of being sure they exist. Looks like I might be in the minority because i do think they have some "abilities" that might place them partially in the paranormal camp. I am not saying they don't have real physical bodies but there are too many accounts of mind speak and disappearing tracks and other oddities from people who I think are very credible (Less Stroud is one) for me to discount that possibility. If I found out they were a totally paranormal experience I would not longer be interested as I dont want that kind of thing in my life and would not want to draw any of it to me. This had kept me right on the fence as far as how interested I am. If I KNEW there was no paranormal connection my interest would be great enough to go out and look for them sometimes but not in any serious way.

  16. Well, I'm not a friend, but I am neutral on his standing, pun intended, because of the great work he did in ripping a new one for Todd Standing (did you ever review the extent of his work on that historically I might ask?); support against the MK Davis blood bath and others. I am not feeling a need to be defensive as there are certain elements of his SOP I would not choose to emulate but the reality of his Hall of Shame effort is there is real work behind it that others chose not to do or were too lazy to do comprehensively and if nobody does it then the same clownshow continues with added clowns ad infinitum. Rictor is an attention whore and BF no nothing, just piggybacked onto others bootstraps, Kulls is yards away from that end of the continuum, but those that know don't need arm-twisting for sure. I am a no kill researcher and don't broadcast any other image personally and I have no "skin" invested in this game and nothing to prove. People can research these personalities on their own, I sometimes feel a need to place some history to my posts since I have been here since BFF 1.0 which has been long enough to forget alot of names.

  17. Radical skeptics certainly consider themselves illumined, but they seem switched to the "off" position to me.

  18. Wow, Madison, those are beautiful handles. How are they when you work with the knives? Are they slippery at all? Over 25 years ago, I had a woods knife that had a rubberized handle. My hand stuck to it so that even in the rain, there was no slippage. It wasn't attractive looking but my hand was not moving. If I knew where to go, I'd have the micarta handle removed from my ESEE and replaced with that sticky rubberized handle I remember so well.
