LOL! Of course I would. You wouldn't even be held to a NDA. But if you talked, everybody would think you're nuts. I've been demolishing my master bathroom, lining up contractors, and buying materials. When I told my wife that I was going bear hunting, an argument ensued, and immediately after that she took a shower........which leaked into the garage downstairs. She hexed me. Witchcraft. I kid you not. I'm used to this. No, don't try the skeptic thing on me.........2 points

There is no possible way that a legit DNA lab CANNOT tell the difference between Human dna, Gorilla dna, Chimpanzee dna or a novel undiscovered species of upright walking primate dna. NONE. They can tell the difference between Humans, Neanderthals and Denisovan dna and then identify modern populations that still have a percentage of Neanderthal and Denisovan dna still in them. They can identity traits both good and bad that came from archaic cousins. Neanderthals-Autism, Diabetes, etc Denisovans-High altitude compatibility, etc They can tell the difference between Chimps and Bonobos, Siberian and Bengal Tigers, on and on. This is a stick a fork in it issue! Done! As far as the main topic? If you do not believe anything is out there? You don’t go look. And you certainly do not spend money on lab samples! This is why it’s a mute topic. Todd Disotell on the million dollar Bigfoot bounty? Does a great job showing people how to collect samples. Including catching mosquitoes to study the blood in their stomachs....very Jurrasic parkesque! E dna I’m sure is an up and coming game changer as well. The key to finding a low density, elusive population is to crunch the samples hardcore. Casting a wide net over promising habitat. Does Bigfoot get bitten by mosquitoes? Absolutely. So what are the odds that you can catch the mosquito that’s flying around with Bigfoot blood in its stomach? Really low. But you up the odds by dozens of researchers taking thousands of samples. At some point the winning lotto numbers are gonna pop up. Just takes cash. Or a lab willing to take the samples. Or start a undercover non profit for Lynx or Wolverines, an endangered animal that resides in the same habitat. With a back door agreement that any primate related dna gets a closer look too besides the target species of the study. Or just do what I do and pack a Bigfoot bashing capable caliber firearm every time you step off into the woods. Convince hundreds of buddies to do it? No lab fees. Just sweat, blood and fuel. I guess this is my problem with dna? I don’t know enough about it and I don’t know who to trust. Ketchum didn’t give me any warm feelings either. It’s beyond my control. You could be the best sample taker in the world and the lab could be screwing it up. And the worst part is you wouldn’t even know it. Especially E DNA. If I watch a Bigfoot take a poo in the woods? And I collect a sample? I would be suspicious if it came back as nothing or another animal. But just going around collecting dirt samples? How am I to know they are getting it wrong? In a shooter scenario? The shooter would control the “sample” from beginning to end. And it would be incontrovertible. Minus any black helicopters....2 points

So naturally I had to pit my obviously superior web searching skills against yours Hiflier. And of course I failed. You are correct. If there is information out there, it is not easy to find. To say the least. Here’s a suggestion though. I remember discussing this with you on the old thread on this topic and about the documentary of the recent Himalayan expedition to look for Yeti evidence. That was the first mention I had ever seen concerning eDNA, and it might have been for you too maybe? If you can locate that video, find out the identity of the female French researcher who brought that technology to the expedition. Find her, and where she is employed and you will have a substantial leg up. If you do, I know we can count on you to update us, and I look forward to hearing. Well about of the cost to having the eDNA done is really not that much. The would be is matching the sequence to some thing in the data base. And we all know that there is no DNA sequence of a Sasquatch in the data bank that it can be match to. I picked this all up off this PDF about eDNA and the process. Here is the PDF: http://www.spygen.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Environmental-DNA-review.pdf Now you cannot say that I am not actually looking into this since I truly have. The closest I have come to anything about of what you are talking about is what Dr. Meldrum Kechtum did on the samples she had. Well we all know the out come of what came from that. But heck I am on your side and have always been. There is a lot we can learn as the technology starts to get better the more chances we have of proving that these creatures are real with out bagging a body. The problem with eDNA is that you have to be specific to what you are looking for in the sample. If we tell the lab that we are looking for a bigfoot they may never find it since there is nothing to compare it too. With eDNA you have to be specific to what you are looking for and if it comes back as being human then they will call it contaminated. There is just nothing there that is going to scream out to them saying that it is BIgfoot. We have no idea if they are even close to being primate of the ape type. Since any sample that has been examine has screamed out Bigfoot. If it had we be hearing about it and so far we have not. It is like you have said @hiflier there is nothing out on the internet screaming about this creature being discovered. Or that they have found any new species through new techniques by gene sequencing like a bigfoot. If they have it or they would be screaming all over the place. My opinion is that if they were primate of the ape kind then they would have matched up some where in some lab. But because they have not matched up in some lab to a primate of the ape/chimp/orang type . Then this creature must not be in that gene pool and must fit in some where in the new species of Human. The ancient type of Human that has not be discovered and is living among us. Sure it sounds crazy but we are actually living with a live breathing cave man in a natural world that is not suppose to exist. That is very Si Fi in our world. There are movies made about icemen and caveman. Now we may have an actual iceman /caveman living in a modern world. Now we just need the proof. If I was a scientist I would be all over this trying to prove this.1 point

The big question is .. who is going to pay for it? Whoever pays for the testing controls release of the results. If it doesn't suit their politics or economics, even if they find evidence .. or outright proof .. it will never see the light of day. It can be obvious, direct financial threat like a timber or mining company, but it can also be a gov't agency whose budget comes from managing an extracted resource. We saw the USFS shrink considerably when they were no longer managing timber sales. So discovery is a threat to them as well, plus a threat if anyone is getting payola on the side to not-find. So who, with money to spend on the testing, with a need for the testing, also benefits from discovery? You gotta be brutally honest, not foolishly optimistic, in that assessment. MIB1 point

Since you put it like that. I concur . Not being done and not likely will be. Which means for documentation and conservation only a body will suffice. I know . Dead horse.1 point

I'm not your downvoter and I have no desire to search the net to prove you wrong or right. I just think it's a dead end. Science has shunned this topic for more than 50 years but you want science to accept existence off of their own science? It's just not going to happen. That's why I said this was silly to get worked up about. Even if they found what you said, it doesn't prove Sasquatch to anyone (but maybe the fringe of us). Nothing is solved until someone gets a body/bodypart and gets it mainstream before it can be shut down. You're spinning your wheels here, pal. And I say that with a great deal of respect for your efforts.1 point

The exact argument that you just made against strange phenomena that you call "woo" could be appropriated and used by a skeptic to argue against the existence of Sasquatch. Any piece of evidence or experience could be explained away by a skeptic. I don't have any answers as to the cause of the phenomena that I have experienced, but I did experience it. I just don't automatically attribute it to Bigfoot. Or ghosts. Or aliens. Or anything else that people are quick to assign as the culprit. But, it happens. It can't be blamed on Chinese electronics, unless they build in the capability of shutting off or malfunctioning only when certain external circumstances arise. I honestly don't understand the mindset necessary to discuss infrasound and 'zapping' in one sentence as an absolute given, but then to dismiss other activity as impossible in the next. Bigfoot is just an undiscovered North American ape...but self illuminating eyes, infrasound, and apparently wood ninja skills are ok. But, at the end of the day... believe whatever you want. I don't have an explanation for any of it, and honestly don't think that it is caused by what we would call Sasquatch. I used to think that accounts of that sort of stuff was the product of overactive imaginations if not outright lies. I also didn't put much faith in stories of infrasound or zapping either. Nowadays I am not so quick to try and explain away things that I personally have not experienced. I am out in the woods every week looking for evidence of a 7 foot tall hairy biped. People think that I am crazy, so I try not to instantly cast doubts on others for their own personal experiences. Scott has experienced these things, and he thinks that a supernatural Bigfoot is the cause. I have experienced some of these things, but since I believe that Bigfoot is flesh and blood...I do not believe that he is able to cause orbs to appear, cloak, affect electronics, etc. Again, who knows what is really going on?1 point

I am not here to debate. You seem to have gotten a burr in your saddle about me for some reason. Yes we have hijacked the thread too much.-1 points

Thank you, NatFoot, and I mean that. Actually, if you think that, you're mistaken. I don't want science to accept existence with their own science. I want science to simply go and sample for it. Everyone knows, including me, that science needs proof. Solid DNA, corroborated and peer reviewed would be proof. Proof enough to convince science to go look for it if they want or need a body.As long as they have proof, they will do that. Everyone wants a body, and a body would be great, but for years science has been telling us that e-DNA is non invasive and that because of its accuracy they no longer need to go out and get physical specimens. That's what they've been telling us is the beauty and chief advantage of e-DNA. It's good enough for science, it's good enough for me, it's good enough for Derek Randles, its good enough for Shane Corson, it's good enough for Dr. Disotell, it's good enough for Dr. Meldrum, it's good enough for Dr. Mayor it's good enough for academia and it's good enough for F&W.. It just isn't good enough for this Forum. Do anyone think there's anything wrong with that picture? All I'm saying is that Sasquatch and e-DNA need to be put together in one room, and that isn' t happening anywhere on the internet, or on this Forum for that matter- unless I bring it up. This Forum needs to embrace this technology. And it needs to realize that this technology will find Sasquatch if it's anywhere out there. Solve For Bigfoot. And that's exactly what e-DNA will do. And it won't take sixty years to do it.-1 points

I don't downvote anyone either. At least I don't remember doing so TAs to the quoted above, then whever one takes samples, even if right after a claimed sighting, nothing will show novel primate, Bear maybe, or Human? If the sample shows Human though, then it should be put through a more rigorous process that targets the Human NOTCH2NLA, B and C variations to see if the genetically expressed proteins are present. If the samples are Human then those proteins should be there. If they are not then the source must be a different kind of primate. On the hand, if the assay has been designed to look for the NOTCH2NL gene and it's defective copy (primitive ape brain) then it will, or should be, a different kind of ape. Either result can be run against the GenBank and neither result will match a Human or a Great Ape. That's the point I've been trying to get across. Regardless of all of that, nothing on the internet even comes close to talking about that- or even looking for Sasquatch, real or not, with e-DNA technology. Which is the point of this thread's topic. Plussed you, Huntster, YOU DA MAN!!-2 points
